Bug#575471: ITP: libskeleton -- A library for reading and writing Ogg skeleton data

2010-03-25 Thread John Francesco Ferlito
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: John Francesco Ferlito

  Package name: libskeleton
  Version : 0.1
Upstream Author : Viktor Gal (wiking)
  URL : http://wiki.xiph.org/Ogg_Skeleton
  License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C
Description : A library for reading and writing Ogg skeleton data

Ogg Skeleton provides structuring information for multitrack Ogg files.
It is compatible with Ogg Theora and provides extra clues for
synchronization and content negotiation such as language selection.
 .
Skeleton bitstream version 3.2 or above specifies an indexing
method for Ogg segments. The index headers of the skeleton bitstream
provide an index of periodic keyframes for every content stream in an Ogg
 segment.

I Jonathon Hill intend to adopt this packge.
Upstream Website: http://www.radscan.com/conquest.html

The package description is:
Conquest is a predecessor of netrek.
 .
The object of the game is twofold. The short-range goal
is to accumulate "kills" by shooting down enemy players.
You get one kill point for each enemy ship shot down,
plus some extra if the enemy had kills too. The major
weapon used to shoot down ships is the photon torpedo.
 .
The long-range goal is to conquer the universe for your
team by taking every planet. You take planets by killing
off the enemy's armies via bombardment, and then

 beaming
your team's armies down. When all the planets have been
taken, the game ends, a new game begins, and the player
who actually took the last planet gets his/her name up
 in lights.

The status of all the OpenSER derivatives is pretty much the same; they
all need a thorough license check, and on such a massive codebase it's
not an easy thing to do.

There are a number of license incompatibilities in there, and a
significant number of them can't be fixed (original authors disappeared,
are uninterested or unwilling to fix the license for one reason or
another...).

Additionally, there are some nasty GPL/OpenSSL issues involving some of
the plugins and libraries they use.

That was the situation last I got involved in this, from the top of my
head.

Good luck,

JB.

Well, I'm active on other fronts, so absolutely not MIA.
However, I haven't progressed with the ITP yet, so it's logical to
"demote" this bug to RFP.

Thanks for pointing the presence of the package out to me.

As for the usefulness, I think that it can't hurt much, but I'd rather
not let down my guards and then be hit by a new wave of an old spamming
technique. My personal impression is that spammers cycle through an
ever-increasing arsenal of methods to slip their spam by user's
filters. I don't have statistical evidence to back up this statement,
however.

Yes, this is a mistake. My goof up. I had filed a RFA earlier and looks like
google spam filter ate all the follow up mails on that RFA bug. So I didn't

Bug#472802: Status of limesurvey packaging (Was: Bug#472802: What's happening?)

2010-03-25 Thread Andreas Tille

On Tue, 23 Mar 2010, Nicolas Barcet wrote:

I am sorry, but since I have been failing getting this package in Debian,
without any reasons displayed or communicated,

What did you actually tried to get this package into Debian? Did you
asked for a sponsor? I have seen several people (including DDs)
interested but there was no such signal like "I'm read with packaging,
it works, could somebody please test and upload."

I don't see any reason to
keep on updating this package except when I need to use it, which happens
about once or twice a year.

That's fair.

There is no reasons why this is not in collab-maint appart from the fact
that I don't have time to research how to get commit rights on it.

If I'm not missleaded you just need to ask for an alioth.debian.org
account. A short Google search leaded me to

   http://wiki.debian.org/Alioth/PackagingProject

which seems to be a good starting point.

So that you know, configurations files of limesurvey have never been
identical from one version to the other and I have always had to redo the
patches.

I guess that's a bit boring and makes maintenance harder - it would be
nice if somebody who really uses the package would take over maintenance.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

It would be nice to get a statup update for the emerillon ITP!
It seems people are currently standing in line to get this package
into Debian. I guess an ITP hijacking isn't far away...

Bug#556131: pkg-voip status? OpenSIPS ITP status?

2010-03-25 Thread Paul Wise
Hi all,

Starting next week my paid work will involve some VoIP stuff, including
running OpenSIPS on Debian servers. I'm wondering what the status of the
OpenSIPS ITP is? Also, probably OpenSER should be removed from Debian
after squeeze since OpenSIPS is one of the replacements for it?

In addition I'd like to join the pkg-voip team to help maintain it,
asterisk and other VoIP stuff. I notice on the pkg-voip qareport.cgi
there are quite a few pkg-voip packages that have open RC bugs, what is
the status of the pkg-voip team?

Bug#575355: ITA: conquest -- a real-time, multi-player space warfare game (curses client)

2010-03-25 Thread Jonathon
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

When all the planets have been
taken, the game ends, a new game begins, and the player
who actually took the last planet gets his/her name up
 in lights.
