I have orphaned the xaos package.

My git repo will remain available for a while. If it's not available and
you need it, I can pull a backup..

The package description is:
XaoS allows you to zoom and pan around a fractal in
real time. It can display the animated fractals in graphical
 or even plain text mode.
 .
It displays the Mandelbrot set or many other fractals and
allows you to zoom smoothly into the fractal. Various coloring
modes are provided for both the points inside and outside the
selected set. In addition, switching between Mandelbrot and Julia
 fractal types is provided.
 .
Other features include autopilot mode, palette changing,
image saving, fractal inversion, filters, and a built in fractal
 tutorial.

Hi,

I'd like to give away the xpdf package to someone who can care for it.

It's been a while since the last maintainer uploaded so it's a bit of a
mess. The source package uses dpatch and should be migrated to a VCS
really as we have a few ongoing differences from upstream.

Bug#576409: Packaging termit for Debian

2010-04-04 Thread Thomas Koch
Hi Evgeny,

I've just compiled termit and love it. The fact that it uses lua makes it the
perfect terminal to use together with the awesome window manager.
I filled a Request For Packaging in Debian:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=576409

Maybe I'll have time to package it myself some day.

Two notes to make life easier for the packager:

* Please add license headers to every individual source file

* Maybe you'd like to make fewer major releases, now that you're on github. A
version number of 2.4.0 would indicate a very mature project, but termit is
only less then a year old.
So I recommend to increase the version number only every three to six months.
This way the users and the packagers know, when it makes sense to make an
upgrade.
The power users and developers can still download every commit as a tarball
from github or compile directly from the git checkout.

Thank you for Termit!

Bug#542009: RFA: ispell-et

2010-04-04 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
What does maintaining that package involve? Actual linguistic work or just
packaging the stuff in a plausibly correct manner?

The packaging pretty much works already. Not much work is required to
keep that part updated.

However, the word list is rather small and outdated. Many words that
are factually correct end up marked as wrong. This needs to be
improved.

Tervitades,

Description: Python ctypes bindings for NET-SNMP with Twisted integration
pynetsnmp is a set of Python ctypes binding for NET-SNMP, an

Description : USB device viewer with GTK+

This application is based on USBView of Greg Kroah-Hartman but
uses GTK+ as graphical library. Additionally to the functions of
USBView, it implements three list views with extende device infos
   and a new properties dialog.

The package looks nice, but it to use /proc/bus/usb, which seems to be
deprecated nowadays (it isn't mounted on my system).

You are right! The usbfs is marked as deprecated now (I have checked it in
the mainline kernel), but on my running system it doesn't (I have here a
 Lenny kernel).

I haven't investigated that much, but I thought I should warn you before
you invest too much time in this tool.

Well, I will update the tool for supporting the new device nodes too.

Also, the package description should be reviewed. It should mention that
the tool provides low level (technical details) of the devices.

Good, I will add this info too.

I will start working on the new support and report it when it's done.

It took some time, but now it's done: I have updated Usbview2 for supporting
Libusb. In its default configuration, usbfs is disabled, but it can be enabled
with ./configure --with-usbfs. Whit usbfs enabled, the user can always switch
between usbfs and Libusb (dynamically configurable).

The new version '0.4a' of Usbview2 is available under the following link:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbview2/

Now, I would appreciate if somebody test the SW and give some feedback (change
requests are welcome). On the other side, I would like to know the next steps
for coming forward.

Thanks a lot,

Luis

HTTP::Server::Simple::PSGI is a simple standalone HTTP server, based on the
HTTP::Server::Simple module (see libhttp-server-simple-perl). This module can
be easily used as an embedded web server for development purposes.

NOTE: this package is needed for packaging Dancer (libdancer-perl),
and probably other stuff too.

Bug#535429: [PATCH 2/6] configure: Add --disable-firmware option to avoid building firmware

2010-04-04 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Allow usbboot to be built on systems without a mipsel cross-compiler
by passing configure the --disable-firmware option.

Before using the resulting binary, one would need to grab the firmware
from another machine.

Bug#535429: xburst-tools for Debian

2010-04-04 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi,

I would like to see xburst-tools available on Debian mirrors.
The packaging is not ready for that yet since it has an undeclared
build-time dependency on a mipsel toolchain, making it impossible
to automatically build.

Worse, there is no mipsel toolchain packaged for Debian except
the native one on mips machines. Sigh.

Here is a workaround. The idea is to include a compiled copy of
the firmware in the Debian source package (but not the upstream
source or repository). Since it is built with free software,
I think this would still meet Debian’s guidelines, and most
importantly, it would work. :)

Meanwhile I will look into packaging cross-compilers for Debian,
but that might take longer.

What do you think?

debian/rules: rewrite as a minimal debian/rules file (using dh)

Bug#535429: ITP: xburst-tools -- tools for Ingenic XBurst CPU USB boot and NAND flash access

Thanks Jonathan

Thanks for advice, [3] will be great.

Plus there is some simple dh_make-generated packaging in the debian/
 directory upstream, nice to see.

Requires a mipsel-targetted assembler; more precisely, it expects
to be able to use mipsel-openwrt-linux-gcc and friends.

Options:

 1. Package a mipsel cross-compiler. All I can say is it would be
great (and unusual) if this happens. The easiest way might be
as a patch for the gcc-4.5 source package, though that method
doesn’t scale well to multiple cross-compiler targets (it is no
good if each gcc version takes forever to build).

 2. Split into two packages: one for the usbboot binary and one
for the firmware. The usbboot binary would be Architecture: any
and built the same way it is already. The firmware would be
Architecture: all and built on mipsel only, using the host
compiler. Downside: this makes it difficult to contribute,
since one needs access to a powerful enough mipsel machine.

 3. Include a compiled copy of the firmware in the Debian source
package. Since it is built with free software, I think this
would still be okay for a Debian package, though it’s not ideal.

Thoughts?
Jonathan
