ahead with your packaging work on chromium-browser to at least have the
*possibility* of getting the package in squeeze. That means having it in
unstable first, then we'll use the usual rules for transition to testing
of all other packages.

It's a bit of a pity that this argument of yours was not in the bug log
of the ITPs of chromium, or else I've missed it blatantly (in that case
I apologize in advance). The only counter argument I've found thus far
to upload was a licensing problem, which seems to be solved now.
Regarding security issues, I duly notice that Giuseppe is a full member
of the Debian security team, so I believe we should trust his judgement
on that.
All in all, it would be an incredible pity not to have chromium-browser
in Debian and probably a good argument for a lot of desktop users to use
another Debian-based distribution (say, Ubuntu). I don't think we should
block the packaging of chromium lightly; if there are clear reasons to
do so they should be clearly stated, and well communicated.
No matter what, we've clear processes for this kind of issues and I
think we should use them rather then simply not uploading the package
and stopping other developers motivated in doing that, by fiddling with
the owner of this ITP.
If you ask me, I'd like Giuseppe to take back ownership of this bug
report and go ahead with the packaging work.

noowner 575614 thanks I've finished my packaging efforts together with my AM. If anybody is interested in uploading this packge into Debian, the packaging files can be found at http://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/timer-entropyd.git/ Some remarks: 1) The source files don't contain any license conditions, there's just the GPL2 included in a separate file. I've asked upstream whether that means GPL2 or GPL2+, but didn't get any answer. 2) The daemon doesn't create a pid file. I've worked around this using pgrep in the init file, but a better solution should be coded in the upstream code (I'd guess this code could be taken from about any other daemon). 3) When started, the daemon prints a copyright line. This disturbs the output of the init.d script. Again, this should be changed in the upstream code (perhaps by introducing a --quiet option, or similarly). Bug#457075: Salomé packaging
Thank you Andre, the debian-science entry looks terrific! It's very frustrating that bug 510057 against hdf5 is nearly 16 months old, and there has been a simple patch available for 3.5 months, but they have just added a new upstream version, with no progress on this or 571453. :-( I'm going to send a reminder to these two bugs. I've tagged what's on lyre as -5 in alioth, and am working toward -6. I'm also trying to get NETGENPLUGIN working, and have started a port to the nglib 4.9.x API. But I'm having trouble, as you'll see if you try to build with it enabled (I disabled it in debian/rules for now). I did notice a post on "Netgen and Salome" on the Netgen forum [1] indicating that Salome developers are porting to the 4.9.x nglib.h API, so I guess we'll be able to see that in the git repository [2] soon. But the repository currently doesn't test for the new API, so if a port is in progress, it's not in git yet...
