I' also involved in the development of a Python/Django based server-side
component[1] for Weave and I can say that the server is content-agnostic
i.e. it only cares about two types of objects:
 WBOs:
  Weave Basic Objects: Stores ID, parent ID, username, sortindex and a
  payload which is plain JSON.
 Collections:
  Stores a subset of WBOs.
All the logic is on the client side and changes in the storage format
should only occur in the JSON payload. The only problem I can see is if
people use different versions of the Weave client as this could lead to
different formats for the payload getting pushed to the server (which
would mess up older/newer clients). Plus, the server API is designed to
handle different (read older) versions by placing the Weave API version
in the URL.

My main concern now is how we support this for the duration of
squeeze. It seems likely that at some point the version we ship will
cease to function with the mozilla.org servers, in which case the
package either needs updating or removing. We could of course work
around it by packaging the server-side components as well, but I
suspect most users will be interested in syncing with mozilla.org, not
running their own server.

Bug#537247: qoauth ITP

Hi. Do you still ITP qoauth?
Qwit (and I guess some other packages) is now using qoauth in order to
match the new Twitter authentication policy, so the unavailability of
qoauth in the repositories is quite inconvenient.

If you're not planning to upload it please rename it to RFP so that
any other interested people can take it.

Thanks.

Coin,

This package has at least 2 major bugs which render it totally
unusuable and block PHP 5.3 transition for people using it. It will
probably be out of Squeeze if we don't act quickly.

Guillaume, you claimed to be willing to adopt this package in #530621,
but to lack a sponsor. If you still intend to work on this package, i
would be glad to sponsor you.

Bug#579147: package should be called cpanminus

2010-05-21 Thread Christine Spang
I'd also like to request that the package be called
'cpanminus' rather than 'libapp-cpanminus-perl'. While this
is the default naming scheme for software from CPAN, it is
not required and makes no sense for the App::
namespace---these are meant to be standalone applications,
and having their package names start with 'lib' is confusing
and ugly.

I request an adopter for the bzr-loom package.

The package description is:
 Loom is a Bazaar plugin to assist in developing focused patches. It adds a
 'loom' to a bzr branch.
 .
 A loom allows the development of multiple patches at once, while still giving
 each patch a branch of its own.

This package is currently being maintained as part of the Bazaar
packaging team, but the team has shrinked and that has increased
the workload for the remaining members maintaining the various
bzr-related packages.

Bug#582321: TAG: dirsum -- commandline directory summary

2010-05-21 Thread Joey Hess
I'm unsure if this ITP was filed as a reaction to my closure of #571575,
or without knowledge of it. But ..

a) I am really suprised that many people would care that du -h | sort -h
   doesn't list files in strict order of size. Does which of two "1.0G"
   files is largest really tend to matter? Enough to have a whole other
   package?

b) If you do care which "1.0G" file is biggest, then an option to have du
   include some additional precision in its -h output would easily solve
   your problem. Or there's the small modification I suggest to du at
    would allow sorting its output
   exactly by size, without the ugliness of needing a sort -h, and while
   still providing human-readable file sizes.

c) I'd certianly be willing to consider for moreutils a filter that
   converts block or byte sized input into human-readable sizes.
   That would be the full-on unix way to go.

Bug#582552: ITP: haskell-statistics -- A library of statistical types, data, and functions

2010-05-21 Thread Marco Túlio Gontijo e Silva
Package: wnpp

Owner: "Marco Túlio Gontijo e Silva"

* Package name: haskell-statistics
  Version : 0.5.1.0
  Upstream Author : Bryan O'Sullivan
* URL : http://darcs.serpentine.com/statistics
* License : BSD3
  Programming Lang: Haskell
  Description : A library of statistical types, data, and functions

 This package provides a library for the Haskell programming language.
 See http://www.haskell.org/ for more information on Haskell.
 .
 This library provides a number of common functions and types useful in
 statistics. Our focus is on high performance, numerical robustness, and use
 of good algorithms. Where possible, we provide references to the statistical
 literature.
 .
 The library's facilities can be divided into three broad categories:
 .
 Working with widely used discrete and continuous probability distributions.
 (There are dozens of exotic distributions in use; we focus on the most
 common.)
 .
 Computing with sample data: quantile estimation, kernel density estimation,
 bootstrap methods, and autocorrelation analysis.
 .
 Random variate generation under several different distributions.

This is a dependency for haskell-criterion.

Well, honestly I'm partial to bzr, and I thought it was a good idea as
upstream is developed in bzr as well. But as you both would rather use
git, I'll go ahead and deal with it. I've never used the debian git
tools, so it will be a good opportunity to learn.

I don't know how long it usually takes to get approved for
collab-maint, so if one of you wants to set up the repo feel free. I
imported the Ubuntu history and the changes I've made for the new
Debian package on gitorious. So you can just grab that and push it to
Alioth:

 benchmarks, and to analyse their results.

 The fastest way to get started is to read the documentation and examples in

Yes, i've already make some changes in the package.

But i intented to clean debian/rules to be more close than others
php-related packages. I'm afraid, i didn't have the time to devote to
accomplish totaly since March [1].

Because the freeze date approching, this might be great if we can upload
it soon to close 7 bugs.

Bug#582578: ITP: buildcross -- Build Debian cross toolchain.

2010-05-21 Thread Hector Oron
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Hector Oron

* Package name: buildcross
  Version : 0.0.1
  Upstream Author : Hector Oron
* URL : http://www.emdebian.org/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Shell
  Description : Build Debian cross toolchain.

`buildcross` is a tool to build cross toolchains from Debian source packages.

I would like to upload to Debian archive (experimental at the moment) a tool I
have been using to build cross toolchains. This tool will eventually gain more
functionalities and capabilities. This package is meant to replace `emchain`
script from `emdebian-tools` package (also deprecated).

Kind Regards,

Ok, will do.

Ok, that is a very good reason. Please, since you will be the maintainer
you can decide, and using the same vcs as upstream is a good thing
anyway.

Best wishes

Thanks for the answer.

Those names do not ring a bell. But if nobody adopts it, its not going
into squeeze right?
I can start by adopting a few other packages I use, but I can also
learn quite fast.

Pedro

Bug#575645: flashplayer 10 with pulseaudio works ok for me with proper /etc/sound.conf configuration

2010-05-21 Thread Bryan Cebuliak
Setting the /etc/sound.conf to use pulseaudio as default fixed the
problem of no sound on Flashplayer 10 for me. My sound.conf is below.
The last two stanzas are the relevant ones to set the default to
pulseaudio:

pcm.pulse {
type pulse
}

ctl.pulse {
type pulse
}

pcm.!default {
type pulse
}

ctl.!default {
type pulse
}
