* URL :
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/geronimo/specs/tags/geronimo-osgi-support-1.0/
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Java
Description : Java libraries providing OSGi lookup support for Geronimo
projects

These Java libraries allow the use of OSGi framework with Geronimo existing
projects. They allow lookup and registration of components.
 .
 - geronimo-osgi-locator.jar: Allow performing class and components lookups
   with OSGi support.
   .
 - geronimo-osgi-registry.jar: Facilitate the use of Geronimo specs providers
(components typically plugged in to the JRE through META-INF/services
resources) like geronimo-validation-1.0-spec (Geronimo JSR-303 Bean
   Validation Spec API).
   .
The service created by this library will maintain a registry of factory
class that can be used by the spec bundles to locate factory classes that
   reside in other bundles.

This package is needed to package geronimo-validation-1.0-spec,
which in turn, it is needed to package OpenJPA library and
Spring Framework 3.0.

bup is a program that backs things up. It uses a rolling checksum
algorithm (similar to rsync) to split large files into chunks. The
most useful result of this is you can backup huge virtual machine (VM)
disk images, databases, and XML files incrementally, even though
they're typically all in one huge file, and not use tons of disk space
for multiple versions.

Description : Tools to manage Xen virtual servers

Since I didn't notice in time that xen-tools has been removed from
unstable[1] and testing, this is an ITP instead of the ITA which it
would have been otherwise.

  [1] http://bugs.debian.org/561667

I don't think it's obsolete yet -- at least not until xen Dom0 support
itself has been removed from Debian. Which is currently estimated to
be the case after squeeze unless Xen dom0 support gets into mainline.

I know that upstream stopped development since Steve doesn't use
xen-tools (nor xen) anymore.

So I'm currently evaluating how much work it would be to get xen-tools
back in shape for sid and possibly squeeze (partially by doing some of
that work of course :-) -- including looking through all previously
open bug reports and taking over upstream development.

So if anyone else wants xen-tools in squeeze (or for how long Xen will
be available in Debian) please get in contact with me. I'm happy about
any further helping hands to join the effort.

Regards, Axel

Well spotted! Have many thanks.
Also are the .pdf/odf files created from the source?

Well, from what I understood the OpenOffice files are the source
to the PDF, but I can ask/check again.

The next upload will then have some more work invested and go to unstable.

Many greetings

Bug#583861: RFA: apache2-redirtoservname

2010-05-31 Thread Simon Richter
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

as announced last week, I'd like to find a new maintainer for
apache2-redirtoservname, which would also come with upstream duties. The
package is easy to understand, and ideally suited for a beginner.

There is currently one open bug, which is marked serious as the
package failed to build on what I perceive as a broken build environment
(so I think this is not a bug in the package itself).

Other than that, the package is fairly low-maintenance, given that its
core functionality works and Apache's plugin ABI has been stable over
the years. Documentation could be improved though.

I request assistance with maintaining the chromium-browser package.

In reality, the team mentioned in the Maintainer field currently consists of
 me.
This package really needs a team to work on it.

How about grouping with the webkit team, already ?

Bug#583862: RFA: asio -- cross-platform C++ library for network programming

2010-05-31 Thread Simon Richter
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

as announced last week, I'd like to find a new maintainer for asio.

The package description is:
asio is a cross-platform C++ library for network programming that provides
developers with a consistent asynchronous I/O model using a modern C++
approach. It has recently been accepted into Boost.

The prospective new maintainer will need significant C++ skills, given
that this is a header-only library (i.e. templates and inline
functions) with lots of preprocessor use.

There are currently two open bugs, both of which require changes to the
actual code.

As the package also exists within Boost (albeit in a different
namespace), it may be worth considering creating a metapackage that
pulls in the required packages from Boost and redirects the namespace
appropriately; this should of course be coordinated with upstream.

Bug#583866: RFA: asterisk-prompt-se

2010-05-31 Thread Simon Richter
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

as announced last week, I'd like to find a new maintainer for the
Swedish voice prompts for Asterisk.

The current package is technically the newest version available, but I
doubt that Asterisk hasn't gained a significant amount of new features
in the last four years, so several standard prompts may me missing
now.

The packaging itself is simple, as only a bunch of data files needs to
be installed, so it is suitable for beginners. The major difficulty in
maintaining the package is that you cannot easily fix problems in
upstream's data, given that they are voice recordings -- so apart from
packaging technicalities, the central maintenance task is communication
with upstream.

There is one open bug, related to voicemail prompts; I'm currently
unsure whether it is trivial or would require upstream action.

The packager should ideally speak Swedish natively, both to verify
issues with the package and for easier communication with upstream;
also, experience with Asterisk is a major bonus.

It should be possible to maintain this package as part of the VoIP team
or on your own, depending on your preference; as far as I know, the team
does not have a native Swedish speaker, so they can only help with
technical issues (their build system is not for the faint of heart,
though).

yesterday, pykickstart entered in the archive.
I could take care of of MIC2 with you.
Do you want a co-maintainer or help on MIC2 package ?

Not really, afaik. Evgeni (cc:ed) started to work on it, afair, but it
has never been uploaded. The packages seem to be somehow ready in our
svn but I don't know the state for sure. Evgeni, any news?

I've prepared .debs for the latest (0.3.8) libindicator release. Mostly
based on Ubuntu ones, but with droped cdbs and without GNOME in
package description.

You can find source and debs here:
 http://people.debian.org/~evgeni/tmp/libindicator/
Or, if you are familiar with the pkg-xfce svn layout, here:
 svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-xfce/goodies/trunk/libindicator

Kartik, how should be proceed? Who wants to be the final maintainer of
this one? (I/we[pkg-xfce] could, but don't have to :))

Regards
Evgeni

Can we put it under collab-maint (svn or git) repository? It looks
that it fits there and we can have more eyes to contribute.

There are short docs on http://pkg-xfce.alioth.debian.org/

Description : Geronimo JSR-303 Bean Validation Spec API

Apache Geronimo implementation of the JSR-303 Bean Validation Spec API.
 .
JSR 303 defines a metadata model and API for JavaBean validation.
The default metadata source is annotations, with the ability to override and
extend the meta-data through the use of XML validation descriptors. The
API is not tied to a specific application tier or programming model.
 .
It is specifically not tied to either the web tier or the persistence tier,
and is available for both server-side application programming,
as well as rich client Swing application developer.
 .
This package contains only API of JSR-303 spec. Hibernate Validator is the
 reference implementation of this spec.

This library is needed to package Spring Framework 3.0 and Hibernate Validator
4.x.

Description : A setproctitle implementation for Python

The library allows a process to change its title (as displayed by system
tools such as ps and top).

Changing the title is mostly useful in multi-process systems, for
example when a master process is forked: changing the children's title
allows to identify the task each process is busy with. The technique is
used by PostgreSQL and the OpenSSH Server for example.

Description : Geronimo JSR-317 Java Persistence (JPA) 2.0 Spec API

The Java Persistence API is the Java API for the management of persistence and
object/relational mapping for Java EE and Java SE environments.
  .
The goal of this specification is to provide an object/relational mapping
facility for the Java application developer using a Java domain model
  to manage a relational database.
  .
Persistence in this context covers three areas:
   - The API itself, defined in the javax.persistence package.
   - The Java Persistence Query Language (JPQL).
   - Object/relational metadata.
  .
The Java Persistence 2.0 specification addresses improvements in the areas of
domain modeling, object/relational mapping, EntityManager and Query
interfaces, and the Java Persistence query language. It adds an API for
criteria queries, a metamodel API, and support for validation.
  .
This package contains only API of JSR-317 spec. Apache OpenJPA and Eclipselink
  are implementations of this spec.

This library is needed to package OpenJPA and EclipseLink, which in turn,
they are needed to package Spring Framework 3.0.

Description: PAM module for local authenticaction with bluetooth devices
pam_blue is a dynamically loadable binary object for the PAM security
framework in Linux. It is presented as an extension for the common PAM
modules, gives the user the ability for authenticate via a
Bluetooth-compatible device like a cell phone or other bluetooth
dongles (e.g. epox-presenter). Due to the fact that a whole part of
the Bluetooth stack is implemented in hardware-side it is relatively
difficult to change the Bluetooth hardware MAC address which makes
 this module more secure.

Bug#583943: RFA: udav

2010-05-31 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi

Due to lack of time maintaining this package (udav) I request an
adopter for it. I missed to take well care of udav (and as a strict
dependency first the currently orphaned mathgl package). It needs more
care as I currently can give to both, as my main interest ist still
focused on other packages in Debian, in the Debian Perl Group.

It would be best, if someone with more interest in it could maintain
it and get back mathgl and udav in a up to date shape for squeeze
release (They are both in 'good' shape, but not up to date!
udav 0.5.2 0.6.3
mathgl 1.9 1.10.2.1).

Upstream (Alexey Balakin) is really interested in getting udav and
mathgl into Debian and Ubuntu and helped often really fast on request
from my side (specially I can say that from udav point of view).

It would be great if someone could take care of udav (but needs too
to adopt mathgl as they are closely related).

I would also suggest to maintain both under the umbrella of the Debian
Science team, thus I'm Cc-ing that list. D. Haley worked too already
on mathgl a bit to get it into the debian-science repository and
Manuel Prinz announced that he would sponsor the mathgl package if
there is somone to work on it (I'm Cc'ing both too directly).

Bests
Salvatore

Bug#583944: ITP: libexception-class-trycatch-perl -- Syntactic try/catch sugar for use with Exception::Class

  Version : 1.12
  Upstream Author : David A. Golden dagol...@cpan.org
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Exception-Class-TryCatch/
* License : Apache
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Syntactic try/catch sugar for use with Exception::Class

Exception::Class::TryCatch provides syntactic sugar for use with
Exception::Class using the familiar keywords try and catch. Its primary
objective is to allow users to avoid dealing directly with $@ by ensuring that
any exceptions caught in an eval are captured as Exception::Class objects,
whether they were thrown objects to begin with or whether the error resulted
from die. This means that users may immediately use isa and various
Exception::Class methods to process the exception.

In addition, this module provides for a method to push errors onto a hidden
error stack immediately after an eval so that cleanup code or other error
handling may also call eval without the original error in $@ being lost.

Description : A command-line program to download MP3's from Amazon

Clamz is intended to serve as a substitute for Amazon's official
MP3 Downloader, which is not free software. Clamz can be used to
download either individual songs or complete albums that you have
purchased from Amazon.
Usage:
When you buy a single song from Amazon, you have the option
to either download it in your web browser (the default behavior)
or via the MP3 Downloader. When you buy an album, Amazon gives
you no choice: you must enable the MP3 Downloader.

To enable the MP3 downloader in the web store, visit the URL
http://www.amazon.com/gp/dmusic/after_download_manager_install.html
(Ignore all the instructions on that page, of course.) This works
by setting a cookie in your browser; it seems to be completely
separate from your Amazon account.

In any case, when you actually go to download the file(s), if the
appropriate cookie is set you will be directed to open or download
an AMZ file. This file is basically just an encrypted list of URLs
plus additional information (artist, title, and so forth) about the
songs.

Save the AMZ file somewhere, and run clamz on it; by default this will
just download all of the linked files into the current directory.
More control over where the files are downloaded and how they are named is
available via the command line, as well as the configuration
file, ~/.clamz/config.

Description : bootloader for embedded PowerPC, MIPS, and ARM devices

Das U-boot is a cross-platform bootloader for embedded systems, used
as default boot loader by several board vendors. It is intended to
be easy to port and to debug, and runs on many supported
architectures, including PPC, ARM, MIPS, x86, m68k, NIOS, and
 Microblaze.

Note that debian already has uboot-envtools and uboot-mkimage which
work with this bootloader.

Note also that the debian u-boot packager may be interested in some of
the development branches of different subsystem custodians (such as
u-boot-marvell, at git://git.denx.de/u-boot-marvell.git, which
currently has guruplug support) if the goal is to support certain
devices for debian before they are adopted into the u-boot mainline.

Bug#583982: RFP: swftools -- collection of utilities for working with Adobe Flash files (SWF)

2010-05-31 Thread Nelson A. de Oliveira
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: swftools
  Version : 0.9.0
Upstream Author : Matthias Kramm, Rainer Böhme, De Clarke. Contact:
swftools-com...@nongnu.org
* URL : http://www.swftools.org/
* License : GPL, LGPL
  Programming Lang: C
Description : collection of utilities for working with Adobe Flash files
(SWF)

Copy and paste from its homepage:

SWFTools is a collection of utilities for working with Adobe Flash files
(SWF files). The tool collection includes programs for reading SWF files,
combining them, and creating them from other content (like images, sound
files, videos or sourcecode). SWFTools is released under the GPL.
The current collection is comprised of the programs detailed below:

* PDF2SWF A PDF to SWF Converter. Generates one frame per page. Enables you
to have fully formatted text, including tables, formulas, graphics etc.
inside your Flash Movie. It's based on the xpdf PDF parser from Derek B.
  Noonburg.
* SWFCombine A multi-function tool for inserting SWFs into Wrapper SWFs,
contatenating SWFs, stacking SWFs or for basic parameter manipulation
  (e.g. changing size).
* SWFStrings Scans SWFs for text data.
SWFDump Prints out various informations about SWFs, like contained
images/fonts/sounds, disassembly of contained code as well as cross-reference
  and bounding box data.
* JPEG2SWF Takes one or more JPEG pictures and generates a SWF slideshow from
them. Supports motion estimation compression (h.263) for better compression
  of video sequences.
* PNG2SWF Like JPEG2SWF, only for PNGs.
* GIF2SWF Converts GIFs to SWF. Also able to handle animated gifs.
* WAV2SWF Converts WAV audio files to SWFs, using the L.A.M.E. MP3 encoder
  library.
* AVI2SWF Converts AVI animation files to SWF. It supports Flash MX H.263
compression. Some examples can be found at examples.html. (Notice: this
tool is not included anymore in the latest version, as ffmpeg or mencoder
  do a better job nowadays)
* Font2SWF Converts font files (TTF, Type1) to SWF.
* SWFBBox Allows to read out, optimize and readjust SWF bounding boxes.
* SWFC A tool for creating SWF files from simple script files. Includes
support for both ActionScript 2.0 as well as ActionScript 3.0.
* SWFExtract Allows to extract Movieclips, Sounds, Images etc. from SWF files.
* AS3Compile A standalone ActionScript 3.0 compiler. Mostly compatible with
  Flex.

Bug#469626: gstopenmax: changing back from ITP to RFP

The package exists in maemo/meego.

I am not sure about usefulness in Debian. Perhaps we should close that
bug if nobody is interested in Debian..

See http://meego.gitorious.org/maemo-multimedia/gst-openmax

 Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of gstopenmax back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 18 months.

If you are still interested in adopting gstopenmax, please send a mail to
 cont...@bugs.debian.org with:

retitle 469626 ITP: gstopenmax -- a GStreamer plug-in for OpenMAX IL
  owner 469626 !
  thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing 469...@bugs.debian.org.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

If you have a collab accout or a git server somewhere, you can try to

I have not looked at it for so long now, the issue last year was with
incompatible releases of gtksourceview. That is probably fixed by now.

Feel free to take ownership of the bug as well
