Bug#584091: ITP: libtemplate-plugin-cycle-perl -- Cyclically insert into a Template from a sequence of values

  Description : Cyclically insert into a Template from a sequence of
values

Sometimes, apparently almost exclusively when doing alternating table row
backgrounds, you need to print an alternating, cycling, set of values into a
template.

Template::Plugin::Cycle is a small, simple, and hopefully DWIM solution to
these sorts of tasks.

It can be used either as a normal Template::Plugin, or can be created directly
and passed in as a template argument, so that you can set up situations where
it is implicitly available in every page.

Bug#457075: Salomé packaging

2010-06-01 Thread Andre Espaze
Hi Adam,

 I've installed your patches, but still have the same build error:

 ./.libs/libVisuConvertor.so: undefined reference to `vtkIntArray*
 VISU::GetIDMapperVISU::TGetPointData(VISU::TFieldList*,
 VISU::TGetPointData, char const*)'
 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

 It seems like if the problem were the missing -L...TOOLSGUI then there
 would have been a missing library instead of a missing symbol... But
 then, you were able to get it to build with these changes, so there must
 be something I don't understand going on here.

 I did install your patches in pieces, not all at once, so I may have
 missed something. Can you compare the tree currently in git with your
 own, to see if there are some significant differences which would cause
 it to not build?
I feel really sorry for the wrong patch that I sent you, the reason
is that I forgot to add the CXXFLAGS=-g in the configure command, I was
building VISU without optimizations. I hope that I did not make you
loose too much time. Since my last successful build, I have looked
deeper into the problem and I found that g++ inline small template
function with -O2. Here I imitate the GetIDMapper definition found in
src/CONVERTOR/VISU_MergeFilterUtilities.cxx:705:

$ cat test.cpp
class Data{
};

template class TData
void
GetIDMapper(TData data)
{
}

void test(void)
{
GetIDMapper(Data());
}

When compiling without optimizations, the GetIDMapper symbol is built:

$ g++ -c test.cpp  readelf -s test.o | grep GetIDMapper
... _Z11GetIDMapperI4DataEvT_

However -O2 will inline the template function:

$ g++ -O2 -c test.cpp  readelf -s test.o | grep GetIDMapper

For not loosing optimizations on the whole build, I have finally
found that I can control g++:

$ cat test.cpp
class Data{
};

template class TData
__attribute__((noinline))
void
GetIDMapper(TData data)
{
}

void test(void)
{
GetIDMapper(Data());
}
$ g++ -O2 -c test.cpp  readelf -s test.o | grep GetIDMapper
... _Z11GetIDMapperI4DataEvT_

So the good new is that I will provide a VISU patch and we can again
configure VISU in the for loop of debian/rules. Will it be possible
to reset the last commit? I deeply apologize for my mistake. For not
reproducing the same problem, I am going to build a new Salome version
and send you patches carefully once everything works.
By the way, is the 'git-builpackage' command that exports CXXFLAGS
to '-O2 -g'? I could not yet understand that step.

Best regards,

André

  Hello Adam,

  I have just succeeded to make a 5.1.3-9 release with VISU, I have
  enclosed the 2 patches. I also wanted to let you know that I have
  understood the runtime problems of VISU but I need to progress
  by steps (my solution is still too messy for being published). I will
  first be glad if the -9 release works for you too.

  With a fresh sid version, I got a problem on /bin/sh now linked to dash
  because autoconf publishes configure scripts with /bin/sh at top but
  the KERNEL configure.ac script uses 'function' which is a bash command.
  I could not find a solution yet (even by tweaking SHELL and
  CONFIG_SHELL).

  Then I wonder if doing a:
  chmod -x debian/tmp/usr/lib/python2.5/*-packages/salome/*
  is a nice idea because you can not list directories any more. I got
  this problem while debugging. I will try to provide a solution on that
  point by listing required scripts.

  Best regards,

Hi Adam,

Sorry for the lack of news, I was focus on making VISU work. I have
succeeded to build a Salome package however the current result is
unfortunately split from our development line. That's why I will first
explain my steps and then ask your advice on the merge as I saw that
serious reorganizations are also pending.

My goal is to provide a functional Salome package for mechanical
engineering even if incomplete. As a consequence the necessary modules
are for me KERNEL, GUI, GEOM, MED, SMESH and VISU. As VISU was failing
in the build process of debian/rules, I decided to build it by hand by
exporting the necessary environment variables. In that case I only had
to modify the gui-build-in-tree.patch (attached to the mail) for making
the libVISU linking work by adding the path to libToolsGUI.
However, back to the complete debian/rules process, the compilation
was still failing in the VISU CONVERTER library because of an absent
template symbol (probably the same problem described in your mail on
the 25th of January). So I needed to investigate the configure and
build steps of debian/rules but those steps take lot of time. For
easing my researchs, I decided to work on a package building
only the necessary modules which I called

Bug#584107: RFA: iptables-persistent -- Simple package to set up iptables on boot

2010-06-01 Thread Simon Richter
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

As announced last week, I'd like to find a new maintainer for the
iptables-persistent package.

The package description is:
 This package contains just a system startup script that restores iptables
 rules from a configuration file.
 .
 Since this is aimed at experienced admins, there is no configuration
 wizard.

The package itself is really simple. One init script, one dependency.
You should be somewhat familiar with the init system, including its
multitude of variants.

Bug#584108: RFA: libopenusb -- alternative userspace USB programming library

2010-06-01 Thread Simon Richter

Severity: normal

Hi,

as announced last week, I'd like to find a new maintainer for
libopenusb.

The package description is:
 The Open USB library provides a platform independent API to USB, including
 synchronous and asynchronous transfers and thread safety.

The package is a mostly standard library package with a fairly inactive
upstream. The thread safety bit is sort of an exaggeration, as there is
a race condition somewhere, so be prepared to handle a bit of C
debugging.

Upstream Author: Gábor Horváth

Description: A free RAW converter and digital photo processing software

RawTherapee is used to adjust some of the most often changed parameters when
optimizing digital images. A normal user often just wants to adjust the white
balance or brightness of a photo he took. Instead of using a big and expensive
image editor you could use a small and fast (specialized) tool like RawTherapee.
More and more cameras also support RAW formats. RAW files usually offer higher
color depth than JPGs (JPG is limited to 8 Bit per color). So the adjustments
are
done with the high color depth and then afterwards converted to or saved as
JPGs.
RawTherapee supports JPG (8 bit), PNG (8 or 16 bit) and TIFF (8 or 16 bit). All
image processing is done in 16 bit/channel mode.
Different to other RAW converters it can use EAHD as demosaicing algorithm. The
raw loading engine of RawTherapee is based on dcraw (RawTherapee 2.4.1 uses
DCRaw
8.97).

According to http://rawtherapee.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9181 (last post) it
will
be GPL'd. The GPL'd version it the one I intend to package.

Bug#584110: ITP: nose-cover3 -- Coverage 3.x support for Nose

 This package is a plugin for python-nose that adds python-coverage
 support, providing coverage reports for nose tests.

Hrm, somehow that already works for me with python-nose containing
this:

  /usr/share/python-support/python-nose/nose/plugins/cover.py

When I set this in setup.cfg I get a coverage report when running
the tests:

  [nosetests]
  with-coverage=1
  cover-package=debian

That's python-nose 0.10.3-1 (i.e. lenny), FWIW.

But maybe a newer python-coverage is different. *shrug*

Kind regards,
Philipp Kern

Description: Haskell portable sendfile library

This Haskell library exposes zero-copy sendfile functionality in a
portable way. sendfile is a non standard system call that copies data
between one file descriptor and another. This library uses the native
implementations where possible (for example, under Linux or FreeBSD) and
provides an Haskell replacement in other cases, thus providing a
portable interface.

Rationale: it is a dependency of happstack (bug #569501).

  Description : LV2 vocoder plugin
This vocoder plugin has 2 AUDIO inputs and 1 OUTPUT (of course). The first
INPUT is the Formant signal which is usually someone's voice. The second
INPUT is the Carrier signal which is some sort of continuous synth sound.
The Carrier signal is modulated to the Formant.
There are a number of controls ports. The first one is the Number of bands
which is how many frequency bands to use (current maximum is 16). The rest of
the controls set the level of each individual band and should have a value
between 0.0 and 1.0. The lower numbered bands are lower in frequency the
higher numbered bands are higher in frequency.

Hi Niko,

Thank you for letting me know. `apt-file search CGI/Application/Dispatch.pm`
probably did not return anything at first due to me not updating apt-file cache
after I switched to testing and unstable. Updated it now.

Regards,

Bug#572545: ITP: usbview2 -- USB device viewer with GTK+

2010-06-01 Thread Hector Oron
Hello Luis,

2010/4/4 Luis Felipe felip...@gmx.net:
 The new version '0.4a' of Usbview2 is available under the following link:

 https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbview2/

 Now, I would appreciate if somebody test the SW and give some feedback
 (change requests are welcome). On the other side, I would like to know the
 next steps for coming forward.

Are not you going to package such software for Debian? So people can
provide feedback and change requests (via BTS -- bugs.debian.org) :-)
If you need a sponsor to upload the package to the archive you could
use http://mentors.debian.net facilities.

Let me know if you got any question or if you need help or review packaging.

Best wishes,

 With SDO, you do not need to be familiar with a
 technology-specific API in order to access and utilize data.
 You need to know only one API, the SDO API, which lets you
 work with data from multiple data sources, including
 relational databases, entity EJB components, XML pages, Web

 pages, and more.
 .
 This package contains only API of SDO 2.1 spec. EclipseLink

 Scenic is a free software suite for streaming audio, video and MIDI between
 live events. It was created at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) to
 give artists a powerful tool for telepresence in live arts contexts and
 new media installations.

 The streaming is done over RTP with the GStreamer multimedia framework.
 Users can also choose low-bandwidth or high-quality codecs, depending on
 what is available on their system. It offers up to as many audio channels
 as your audio device supports. Scenic consists in a desktop application
 and several command-line utilities:
  * scenic: Desktop application to stream audio, video and MIDI over RTP
  * milhouse: Streams audio and video over RTP
  * midistream: Streams MIDI notes and controls over RTP
  * dc-ctl: Controls connected DC IEEE 1394 cameras
  * firereset: Resets a IEEE 1394 bus to help in case of problems
  * jack-info: Prints informations about running JACK servers

Bug#457075: Salomé packaging

2010-06-01 Thread Adam C Powell IV
Hello Andre,

First, some great news: Salomé was accepted into unstable! Now we can
file multiple independent bugs and track all of these issues separately.

On Tue, 2010-06-01 at 10:53 +0200, Andre Espaze wrote:
 Hi Adam,

  I've installed your patches, but still have the same build error:

  ./.libs/libVisuConvertor.so: undefined reference to `vtkIntArray*
  VISU::GetIDMapperVISU::TGetPointData(VISU::TFieldList*,
  VISU::TGetPointData, char const*)'
  collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Aha! That makes a lot of sense. Don't worry, it didn't take me a lot
of time to rebuild the package a couple of times.

But this suggests that it might be best to compile only that file using
-g so the rest of VISU can still be optimized. What do you think?

 Since my last successful build, I have looked
 deeper into the problem and I found that g++ inline small template
 function with -O2. Here I imitate the GetIDMapper definition found in
 src/CONVERTOR/VISU_MergeFilterUtilities.cxx:705:

 $ cat test.cpp
 class Data{
 };

 template class TData
 void
 GetIDMapper(TData data)
 {
 }

 void test(void)
 {
 GetIDMapper(Data());
 }

 When compiling without optimizations, the GetIDMapper symbol is built:

 $ g++ -c test.cpp  readelf -s test.o | grep GetIDMapper
 ... _Z11GetIDMapperI4DataEvT_

 However -O2 will inline the template function:

 $ g++ -O2 -c test.cpp  readelf -s test.o | grep GetIDMapper

 For not loosing optimizations on the whole build, I have finally
 found that I can control g++:

 $ cat test.cpp
 class Data{
 };

 template class TData
 __attribute__((noinline))
 void
 GetIDMapper(TData data)
 {
 }

 void test(void)
 {
 GetIDMapper(Data());
 }
 $ g++ -O2 -c test.cpp  readelf -s test.o | grep GetIDMapper
 ... _Z11GetIDMapperI4DataEvT_

Very interesting! It sounds like with a lot of hard work you've found
an important g++ optimization bug...

Sounds good, thank you.

 By the way, is the 'git-builpackage' command that exports CXXFLAGS
 to '-O2 -g'? I could not yet understand that step.

I believe dpkg-buildpackage sets those flags. But it should be possible
to set them locally within debian/rules or Makefile.am.

Regards,
Adam

Bug#584159: RFS: sdo-api-java (new package, needed to package EclipseLink)

2010-06-01 Thread Miguel Landaeta
Hi team,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package sdo-api-java.

* Package name: sdo-api-java
  Version : 1.1.1-1
  Upstream Author : Oracle, Sun Microsystems, BEA, Apache Software Foundation
and others
* URL :
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/tuscany/sdo-java/tags/1.1.1/sdo-api
* License : Apache-2.0 and other
  Section : java

It builds these binary packages:
libsdo-api-java - Service Data Objects 2.1 Java API spec
libsdo-api-java-doc - Documentation for libsdo-api-java

The package is lintian clean.
The upload would fix these bugs: 584159

My motivation for maintaining this package is:
This library is needed to package EclipseLink.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/sdo-api-java
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/sdo-api-java/sdo-api-java_1.1.1-1.dsc
- Vcs-Git: git://git.debian.org/git/pkg-java/sdo-api-java.git

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Regards,

Hi,

Packages of version 1.6.0 have been uploaded and are now in the NEW queue.
Meanwhile they are also available from:

 deb http://non-gnu.uvt.nl/debian lenny simplesamlphp

(not guaranteed to remain available after the packages have entered Debian

Cheers,
Thijs
