Bug#573822: RFH: gwibber -- microblogging client for GNOME
On 17 July 2010 03:57, Dionisio E Alonso (Baco) dalo...@grulic.org.ar wrote: On 20 June 2010 04:39, Raphael Hertzog hert...@debian.org wrote: gwibber uses desktopcouch to store messages, and desktopcouch starts a local couchdb instance... the question is why doesn't it work as it should? Here it managed to start the local couchdb but apparently the port number that has been allocated has never been communicated back to the client application through dbus. In your cases it rather looks like that the server was no longer there (or do you have firewalling that could forbid it?). I think there is a permissions problem in /etc/couchdb/ giving permissions to read and execute directories recursively solved launching the ubuntu version of the package. So I installed gwibber, gwibber-service and gwibber-themes from lucid and changed permissions in /etc/couchdb/ as # chmod -R o+rX /etc/couchdb/ And then I could launch gwibber 2.30.0.1 Perhaps I didn't mention that it is necessary restart couchdb daemon after such changes in /etc/couchdb/ folder permissions. And I don't know if it is really necessary, but worked for me, I also had to erase ~/.local/share/desktop-couch/ the first time, because I had some wrong configuration from earlier tries. cheers, -- Dionisio -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#589724: ITP: geowebcache -- cache for WMS tiles
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: David Paleino da...@debian.org * Package name: geowebcache Version : 1.2.2 Upstream Author : Arne Kepp, portions by Gabriel Roldan and Mikael Nyberg * URL : http://geowebcache.org/ * License : LGPL-3+ Programming Lang: Java Description : cache for WMS tiles Mapping clients, such as OpenLayers or GoogleMaps, render WMS (Web Map Service) tiles every time they are queried, which can result in unnecessary processing and increased waiting times. . GeoWebCache optimizes this experience by saving (caching) map tiles as they are requested, in effect acting as a proxy between client (such as OpenLayers or Google Maps) and server (such as GeoServer, or any WMS-compliant server). As new maps and tiles are requested, GeoWebCache intercepts these calls and returns pre-rendered tiles if stored, or calls the server to render new tiles as necessary. Thus, once tiles are stored, the speed of map rendering increases many times, making for a more seamless user experience. -- . ''`. It includes numbers, basic prompts used by Asterisk applications, and such. This package is provided by Upstream in three different languages (en_US and es_MX by Allison Smith and fr_CA by June Wallack) and in 9 different audio formats. Of those formats it seems like a good idea to package: * gsm: Was default for a long time, compressed, and playable in Sox and others even though it is a raw file. * wav: Uncompressed, and thus preserves quality. Now a raw file and thus more convinient to manipulate. (wav is 8kHz, 16 bits/sample, mono). * g722: Of the available wide-band formats, this was the sanest (slin16 is huge). Thus we will eventually have the binary packages asterisk-core-sounds-{en,es,fr}-{g722,gsm,wav} . Note that the existing package 'asterisk-sounds' is the same as the the resulting asterisk-core-sounds-en-gsm . The other 8 proposed packages have no equivalent in the archives. There are some existing packages of French prompts, but they are fr_FR and not fr_CA (and not as complete). Initial packaging has already been created in the SVN repository of the pkg-voip team. Bug#586663: ITA: downloadstatusbar -- Iceweasel/Firefox addon that provides an improved download statusbar
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the downloadstatusbar package. I don't use Iceweasel very often now, and I think it will be better when this package will be maintained by someone who uses this browser. The package description is: View and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar — without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing. . Despite its compact size, Download Statusbar packs in more useful features than the standard download window. The fully customizable interface auto-hides when not in use, allowing full control without interruption. I am requesting to adopt the downloadstatusbar package. Cheers!! -- .''`. Bug#473213: Grails' roadmap to sid
block 473213 by 589501 block 473213 by 586689 thanks I'm documenting this as reminder for myself but it could be useful for anyone interested on this package. Before Grails can reach unstable, the following packages must reach unstable first: * libhibernate3-java = 3.5, #589501. * libspring-java, #575877. * libspring-webflow-2.0-java = 2.1.0, #586689. * libradeox-java, #453471 (this one is not a must but a nice to have). -- Miguel Landaeta, miguel at miguel.cc secure email with PGP 0x7D8967E9 available at http://keyserver.pgp.com/ Faith means not wanting to know what is true. -- Nietzsche -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. This package provides teh kernel modules source with has been prepared for use with DKMS. Will this be the same code that has been accepted upstream? If so, I think we could add it to the linux-2.6 package instead of creating a separate package. It has. The DKMS package is the latest code, though, with backport #ifdefs allowing it to build as far back as 2.6.27. If that's inappropriate for debian, I can just keep those packages on the ceph site only. Since the 'lenny' kernel is based on 2.6.26 and the 'squeeze' kernel on 2.6.32, I don't think it is worth providing a backport that covers versions in between these. Please do prepare a backport to 2.6.32 that we can add to the kernel package. This would actually require the entire client to be re-licensed to the GPL. Hi Clint, I'll just change the license for that file to GPL. The LGPL is used for the rest to allow linking the client side stuff into applications, but that's not important for fuse.cc. (And in any case, fuse.cc is mostly unused... cfuse uses fuse_ll.cc by default.) I'm applying your cleanups to the upstream debian/. A 0.21 release is (I hope) about a week away, and there are a number of changes in the ceph.git unstable branch. Anyway, hopefully we can get that licensing issue cleared up quickly so ceph makes it into the 10.10 release of Ubuntu. What's the timeframe for that? Bug#506040: Unclear licensing on some files
Hi Sage, I've been reviewing the package, and I'm almost done. However, there are some issues with the licensing that may prevent it from entering Debian and/or Ubuntu's archive: src/client/fuse.cc has this header: /* * Ceph - scalable distributed file system * * Copyright (C) 2004-2006 Sage Weil s...@newdream.net * * This is free software; you can redistribute it and/or * modify it under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public * License version 2.1, as published by the Free Software * Foundation. See the file COPYING. */ Since the file was originally under the GPL, I believe it cannot not be re-licensed to the LGPL 2.1 in this way without Miklos assigning copyright to you or granting you special permission to relicense the file. This would actually require the entire client to be re-licensed to the GPL. This appears to be a copy of the example/fusexmp.c file from the fuse distribution. Assuming it came from v2.4.2 (the last one to have the 2005 Copyright), I think you've changed it enough to justify removing Miklos' copyright: cl...@ubuntu:~/pkg/ceph/scratch/fuse-2.4.2$ diff -u example/fusexmp.c ../../bzr/ceph/src/client/fuse.cc | grep '^-'|wc -l 261 cl...@ubuntu:~/pkg/ceph/scratch/fuse-2.4.2$ diff -u example/fusexmp.c ../../bzr/ceph/src/client/fuse.cc | grep '^+'|wc -l 214 cl...@ubuntu:~/pkg/ceph/scratch/fuse-2.4.2$ wc -l example/fusexmp.c 353 example/fusexmp.c So, you've changed 261 lines of 353. That is 73.9%. I think in some countries that constitutes enough change to remove the original copyright, but its not clear enough to pass Debian's Free Source Guidelines. You'd probably be better off just obtaining permission from Miklos to re-license that file as LGPL, or simply re-licensing the 'cfuse' source files under the GPLv2 (which is what version of the GPL fuse 2.4.2 is distributed under). Since it is a binary program, and not a library, it makes sense anyway. Anyway, hopefully we can get that licensing issue cleared up quickly so ceph makes it into the 10.10 release of Ubuntu. Otherwise the package looks good. I've just changed a few things. Here is the release schedule: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MaverickReleaseSchedule The package will need to be uploaded before the FeatureFreeze which is on August 12th. It would be best if it were ready for upload by July 29th, as that way it would be included in Alpha3. Hopefully also we can get it uploaded to Debian ASAP so that both distributions benefit.
