Hi Clint, thanks a whole bundle for being careful in that review! On Tue, 20 Jul 2010, Clint Byrum wrote: The package will need to be uploaded before the FeatureFreeze which is on August 12th. It would be best if it were ready for upload by July 29th, as that way it would be included in Alpha3. Hopefully also we can get it uploaded to Debian ASAP so that both distributions benefit. Bug#487388: RFH: flightgear -- Flight Gear Flight Simulator
Hi Ove, I have enjoyed using Flightgear for a few years now and have been experimenting with packaging aircraft and scenery with some success. However I have just started using Debian and have almost now developer experience. I have been uploading some of my packages to my launchpad ppa (https://edge.launchpad.net/~cbaines ) and discussing this on the Flightgear (http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6t=7665 ) and Debian forums (http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=19t=53782 ). However my packages are poorly built and just experimental. I was just experimenting with concepts. I am not sure if I have the necessary skills to become a co-maintainer but I would be willing to try and help. W3C-Markup-Validator
I would like to become a maintainer for this package: http://packages.qa.debian.org/w/w3c-markup-validator.html . I have reviewed some of the bugs: #477792 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=477792 This just goes against the provided documentation and so should be closed. #437795, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=437795#461021 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=461021 I think the upstream package is now on 1.1. #445265 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=445265 If validated this should be fixable by just amending the dependencies. #263716 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=263716 It seems if one maintains this package one may also have to maintain w3c-linkchecker. I have run up the current version on a fresh debian install and it works. However it really needs to be uptodate with the latest upstream version to be fully useful to me. Nicholas

Hmm - I actually do prefer discussing in public: others might quite likely benefit from our conversation as well :-) I do not see your post at http://bugs.debian.org/578157 - did you try sending to 578...@bugs.debian.org or somewhere else? Yes, I sent it to 578...@bugs.debian.org originally. Maybe some spamfilter is eating it? I dunno. I don't know either. Let's simply cc the bugreport and move on :-) So.. what's the status? Waiting on wxWidgets? I see that someone raised an intent to package that too, but then didn't do anything about it. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=492896 The 0.2 release was apparently coded specifically for 32-bit x86, and even there spew lots of warnings regarding signed/unsigned int then failed to complete compilation. That, with a security-sensitive tool, discouraged me somewhat, and I decided to simply let it hang for a while and look if perhaps upstream code then had matured some. And if not then drop packaging it. Now, thanks to your asking about it, I have taken another look. There is a newer upstream release, but still it fails (for me) to build it. If you are interested not only in seeing this package appear for you to use it, but consider helping out packaging it, you are most welcome to help! Or to take over, if you prefer working alone (or for some reason dislike working with me).
