Bug#592440: TAG: subsonic -- an mp3 streaming server

2010-08-09 Thread Charlie Smotherman
Package: wnpp
Severity: ITP

Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, providing ubiquitous
access to your music. Use it to share your music with friends, or to
listen to your own music while at work. You can stream to multiple
players simultaneously, for instance to one player in your kitchen and
another in your living room.

Subsonic is designed to handle very large music collections (hundreds of
gigabytes). Although optimized for MP3 streaming, it works for any audio
or video format that can stream over HTTP, for instance AAC and OGG. By
using transcoder plug-ins, Subsonic supports on-the-fly conversion and
streaming of virtually any audio format, including WMA, FLAC, APE,
Musepack, WavPack and Shorten.

Bug#506040: ceph now in Ubuntu

2010-08-09 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Sage, Mathias has uploaded ceph into the universe archive for Ubuntu,
meaning it
should be present for the 10.10 release in October.

It is versioned as 0.21-0ubuntu1, so as soon as 0.21-1 is uploaded to Debian,
we will sync/merge it.

There was some confusion regarding the official release tarball and the debian
packaging
it contains, I think a few things didn't make it in to the debian dir from the
testing
branch of the git repository.

I've attached the patch, which we have in our debian/patches dir. It moves
mkcephfs to
sbin from usr/sbin, which is where the official tarball's install files expect
it to be.

Thanks for all the help, and looking forward to working together with you as
ceph matures!

Bug#592418: RFP: qpage -- SNPP client, or SNPP-to-TAP/IXO gateway

2010-08-09 Thread Guillaume Beaudoin

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Version: 3.3final-3
Description: SNPP client, or SNPP-to-TAP/IXO gateway
QuickPage is a paging program. It can speak SNPP to a server, or it
can speak SNPP as a server and dial your modem to send an alpha page.
 .
HylaFAX contains similar functionality but is more complex by at least
an order of magnitude. If you just need to send pages, this does
 everything you might want.

Previously packaged on Debian woody, but was removed later.

http://archive.debian.net/woody/i386/qpage

There is probably little work needed to update it to current standard.

Currently failing to install with the following errors:

update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.d/qpage missing LSB information
update-rc.d: see
/usr/bin/qpage already running.
dpkg: error processing qpage (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Guillaume

Bug#592390: ITP: spm8 -- analysis of brain imaging data sequences

2010-08-09 Thread Michael Hanke
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: NeuroDebian team

* Package name: spm8
  Version : 8.4010
Upstream Author : Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging
* URL : http://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/software/spm8/
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: Matlab/Octave
Description : analysis of brain imaging data sequences

Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM) refers to the construction and
assessment of spatially extended statistical processes used to test
hypotheses about functional brain imaging data. These ideas have been
instantiated in software that is called SPM. It is designed for the
analysis of fMRI, PET, SPECT, EEG and MEG.

This software is written to be used with Matlab and probably to most
widely used piece of software in neuroimaging research. The authors
state that

Scilab and Octave are free clones of MATLAB, but SPM does not
currently run on either. Porting SPM to these environments should be
feasible but would require an important investment.

It looks like a port is indeed feasible: MEX extensions already build
fine with Octave, there are no dependencies to Mathworks toolboxes. For
few API incompatibilities workarounds have already been identified. We
plan to enable all non-GUI functionality that can be utilized within the
NiPyPE framework (http://packages.debian.org/sid/python-nipype), which
will also allow us to appropriately test the package.

If you have some experience with Octave and/or SPM you're welcome to
join this packaging effort. A git repository will appear on Alioth shortly.

Bug#560244: ITP: mysql-cluster

2010-08-09 Thread debianbugs . boog
Unfortunately the Ubuntu mysql-cluster package is broken, it has been
since the release of 10.04, although there is a workaround that works.

The bug report for this issue has been open since May with no
activity, it's status is still still listed as "new":
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-cluster-7.0/+bug/579732

I was really hoping that mysql-cluster would be available in Debian 6,
but I not optimistic as there seems to be no activity, and squeeze is
now frozen.

I'm aware of that with respect to Debian - simply recompiling the
package does not work, or at least not for Lenny (that's where I needed
it).

I didn't see that.

I'm not overly concerned with Ubuntu bugs atm, although I'm willing to
consider patches that make things work on Ubuntu if the Debian side is
all green.

Please take into account that I'm so far doing this single-handedly,
while the non-cluster-enabled mysql package is maintained by a whole
team.

I'm more than willing to team up, but wasn't yet able to make all
connections.

Also, this package does not currently have the highest priority for me,
but will, once finished, also be available as a backport.

Bug#592353: ITP: ejabberd-mod-shared-roster-ldap -- Shared Roster via LDAP for ejabberd

2010-08-09 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thorsten Glaser

* Package name: ejabberd-mod-shared-roster-ldap
  Version : 0.5.1
  Upstream Author : Marcin Owsiany
* URL : https://alioth.debian.org/projects/ejabberd-msrl/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Erlang
Description : Shared Roster via LDAP for ejabberd

ejabberd-mod-shared-roster-ldap implements server-side
amended rosters using data stored in an LDAP. This can
be used to, for example, implement Jabber/XMPP as a
company-wide communication infrastructure where every
employee has a complete list of all employees, grouped
by departments or location, in his roster.

We’re using this for our LDAP server at work, in fact.
I wouldn’t say no to other or co-maintainers though,
as I don’t really know Erlang.

Bug#591302: ITP: 7kaa -- real time strategy game

2010-08-09 Thread Bertrand Marc

Hi,

I did the initial packaging work [1], [2]. The packages compiles and the
games starts, but the mouse is unusable yet. Do you encounter the same
issue ?

Feel free to continue the work. As it is I think it is worthy of an
experimental upload.

Cheers,
Bertrand
