Bug#592993: RFP: datacrow -- Datacrow is a modular media catalogue and organiser with configurable reporting system.

2010-08-14 Thread Andreas Neudecker
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: datacrow
  Version : 3.8.16
  Upstream Author : Robert Jan van der Waals
* URL : http://www.datacrow.net/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : Datacrow is a modular media catalogue and organiser with
configurable reporting system, a loan administration and a module wizard for
new media types or specific requirements for existing media modules. Included
with the program are modules for movies, software, photos, containers, books,
audio CDs, music albums, generic media, contact persons, users.

Adding new media is very easy and can be done automatically by searching the
databases of sites like Amazon, IMDB, Metacritic and others for ISBNs, titles,
EANs (European article numbers), et cetera. Datacrow even has an automatic
update function that allows to replace the entries with new data from said
online data sources or append new data to existing entries.

A comfortable filter option allows to filter by author, genre, actors, and,
year of publication et cetera, combined searches and custom sorting.

The report function offers export of HTML or PDF reports and preset report
formats plus the option to generate your own.

The included user management and loan management allows to manage media you
have lent to other people and even use Datacrow for a library.

The GUI has localizations for Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and
Spanish. The online help is currently English only.

The software derived in 2003 from a CD library software written by the same
author. Written in Java and published under the GPL the software runs on Linux,
Windows, MacOS X and can be started from USB media as a portable app.

Regards

Andreas Neudecker

Description: Graphical tool to measure and graph data
 KTimeTrace is a graphical tool based on Qt that measures and
 displays data from data acquisition hardware. It captures
 samples from a data acquisition device, saving it to disk
 while providing a real-time graphing display.
 .
 KTimeTrace requires having a data acquisition device that is

I propose packaging them separately as they may be useful to others.
I already have them working in my own test environment.

Bug#592977: RFA: xeji - Yet Another Follow the Mouse X demo

2010-08-14 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I've no intention to keep working on this package, so I'm
giving it up for adoption. I'm willing to sponsor/help
the future maintainer.

It is a simple package that is great for newcomers with
intentions to learn about debian packaging.
Note that it doesn't have bugs opened but a lintian warning.

Saludos,
Mauro

Bug#592979: RFA: mined - Powerful text editor with extensive Unicode and CJK support

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I've no intention to keep working on this package, so I'm
giving it up for adoption. I'm willing to sponsor/help

It was the first text editor with unicode support in a plain text terminal,
which now is a very common feature in most text editors.
It has no current open bugs but a new version waiting to be uploaded.

instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Bug#592968: ITP: jnr-netdb -- java interface for network functions

2010-08-14 Thread Torsten Werner
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Torsten Werner

* Package name: jnr-netdb
  Version : 1.0.1
  Upstream Author : Wayne Meissner
* URL : http://github.com/wmeissner/jnr-netdb
* License : LGPL-3
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : java interface for network functions

jnr-netdb is a java interface to getservbyname(3), getservbyport(3).

It tries to use the native functions if possible, falling back to parsing
/etc/services directly, and finally to an inbuilt table for use in environments
where neither native code, nor filesystem access is possible.

The package is needed by JRuby.

I am orphaning lilo.

The current maintainer William Pitcock have
no interest for a long time for maintaining lilo (see links). From
co-maintainer Matt Arnold I know he have not
enough time for maintaining lilo, but he would like to provide a new
maintainer.

For more information see here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587886 (07/2010)

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2008/06/msg00400.html  (06/2008)

And the newest RC bug says that this package is not prepared for the next
stable release (squeeze):
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=590022

Maintaining a package requires time and skills. Please only adopt this
package if you will have enough time and attention to work on it.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see

for detailed instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Bug#592877: ITP: apt2 -- Advanced Package Tool 2

2010-08-14 Thread Tollef Fog Heen
]] Julian Andres Klode

Hi,

| I think that all in all, apt2 is a known name already, it can be found
| easily, it can not be confused with other things.

I find it fairly rude to stomp on apt's namespace like that, and while
apt's currently at a sub-1 number, it might eventually reach 2.0, and
then you'll have more confusion, just like you have for jabberd 1.4 and
jabberd2 being completely different code bases that have nothing in
common apart from the name. The same goes for apt-ng or similar names
that imply that «apt2» is the next version of apt.

(This said with the assumption that «apt2» isn't scheduled to replace
apt, with the apt maintainers's blessing. If they're happy to drop the
current apt in favour of «apt2», my complaint goes away.)

Regards,

   Package name: libcgi-session3-perl
Version: 3.95
Upstream Author: Sherzod Ruzmetov
URL: http://search.cpan.org/~sherzodr/CGI-Session-3.95/
License: GPL-1+ | Artistic
Description: CGI::Session - persistent session data in CGI applications
CGI-Session is a Perl5 library that provides an easy, reliable and
modular session management system across HTTP requests. Persistency is a
key feature for such applications as shopping carts,
login/authentication routines, and application that need to carry data
accross HTTP requests. CGI::Session does that and many more.

In Debian we have libcgi-session-perl. But it`s new 4.xx version.
Modules interface not compatible with 3.xx version. But I have some old
projects and need library 3.xx version.
Please add this package. I don`t want make my server disposal dump of
modules, installed through `cpan`.

Bug#592877: ITP: apt2 -- Advanced Package Tool 2

Let's make it clear that:
  * APT2 is the current codename of the project
  * APT2 (or APT 2.0) may be the final name, if
  * At least 50% of the active APT developers agree[0];
currently:
  * Michael Vogt
  * David Kalnischkies [1]
  * Julian Andres Klode
  * and the package is accepted by ftpmaster
And:
  * APT2 will be backwards-compatible to APT on the configuration
level
  * APT2 will feature a compatibility layer on the Python level
  * APT2 will be very very similar to APT on the command-line
(although everything is in one tool, but you could create compat
symlinks)
  * APT2's API is otherwise very different, as it is written in C.
  * APT2 is LGPL-2.1+ licensed, whereas APT consists of GPL-2+ and
public domain parts

If we get no agreement on the APT2 name when it is production-ready, I
will choose a different name (seek a few proposals and get a poll).

On a different matter, if someone wants to have a cow [or a daemon and a
GNU for GNU/kFreeBSD ] in APT2, please send one (it should be LGPL-2.1+
licensed, although FreeBSD license should be acceptable as well).

[0] voting of course once it is production-ready, not now.
[1] not listed in Uploaders, but very very active.
