Bug#609291: ITP: mangler -- A Ventrilo compatible client for Linux

2011-01-09 Thread Vincent Cheng
Here's a follow-up description then:

Mangler is an open source VoIP client capable of connecting to Ventrilo 3.x
servers. It is capable of performing almost all standard user functionality
found in a Windows Ventrilo client. Ventrilo is a proprietary VoIP
communication software, letting users communicate through voice or text.

(As a side question, how long are descriptions supposed to be?)

Bug#609218: ITP: qsapecng -- a Qt-based Symbolic Analysis Program for Electric Circuits

2011-01-09 Thread Simone Rossetto
Hi Georges, great!

I'm very happy you are interested in QSapecNG and I think Michele (the upstream
author) is
happy too. We hope you will appreciate this program.

The package for Debian is almost ready, I have to adjust some things (like bug
number) and
I'll provide you all the files, source and binaries.

Best regards, thanks
Simone

I'm no longer using qmail and qmailanalog so I can't maintain this package
good enough. I'm orphaning it hereby and I recommend deletion of it because it
is very unpopular according to popcon and installer-packages are always a

Description : script to manage perl installations in your $HOME

perlbrew is a program to automate the building and installation of perl
in the users HOME. At the moment, it installs everything to ~/perl5/perlbrew,
and requires you to tweak your PATH by including a bashrc/cshrc file it
provides. You then can benefit from not having to run 'sudo' commands
to install cpan modules because those are installed inside your HOME
too. It's a completely separate perl environment.

Check or clean a SpamAssassin auto-whitelist (AWL) database file.
 .
The Auto-WhiteList feature in Spamassassing tracks scores from
messages previously received and adjusts the message score, either by
boosting messages from senders who send ham or penalizing senders who
have sent spam previously. This not only treats some senders as if
they were whitelisted but also treats spammers as if they were
 blacklisted.
 .
This and enhanced version of the original AWL tool. The AWL database
can be examined and pruned and Includes the ability to remove a
entries for a single email address. This is useful when a spammer
sends one or more ham messages before sending spam.

Severity: wishlist

rdfind is a program to find duplicate files and optionally list, delete them or
replace them with symlinks or hard links.
It is a command line program written in c++, which has proven to be pretty
quick compared to its alternatives.
Its dependencies are libnettle-dev, which is already in debian since a long
time.

I have created deb packages but I the packaging could most likely improve.

There is a similar program already called fslint, with the same algorithm.

The program is available at http://rdfind.paulsundvall.net

cheers,
Paul Sundvall (the author of rdfind, obviously biased :-))

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day/Evening

Bug#609278: ITP: Unity -- Interface for Ubuntu Desktop Edition

2011-01-09 Thread Adnan Hodzic
Raphael, thank you, I have just registered for ayatana team.

Also regarding this ITP I would like to change couple of fields which are:

Upstream Author: Unity Team

Description: A desktop experience designed for efficiency of space and
interaction

Unity is a desktop experience which is designed for efficiency of
space and interaction, in perfect combination of familiarity and the
future. It embraces the values of GNOME: simplicity, style, usability
and accessibility, as well as on professional level, considereding
design thinking. It is designed by Canonical and Ayatana community and
it consists of a Compiz based plugin, which is heavily dependent on
OpenGL.

This one is pretty OK.
BTW, maybe it will be good idea maintaining this package inside the VoIP team,
http://wiki.debian.org/Teams/VoIP/ You can check with them, I do not know
if they will be interested.

Description : WvDial sacrifices some of the flexibility of programs like
"chat" in order to make your dialup configuration easier. When you
install this package, your modem will be detected automatically and you
need to specify just three parameters: the phone number, username, and
password. WvDial knows enough to dial with most modems and log in to
most servers without any other help.

In particular, you no longer need a "chat script" to handle the most
common situations.

Description: PPP dialer with built-in intelligence
WvDial sacrifices some of the flexibility of programs like "chat" in order
to make your dialup configuration easier. When you install this package,
your modem will be detected automatically and you need to specify just
three parameters: the phone number, username, and password. WvDial knows
enough to dial with most modems and log in to most servers without any
 other help.
 .
In particular, you no longer need a "chat script" to handle the most common
 situations.

Bug#609449: ITP: ranger - a file manager with an ncurses frontend written in Python

2011-01-09 Thread Vern Sun
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Vern Sun

* Package name: ranger
  Version : 1.4.1-1
  Upstream Author : Roman Zimbelmann
* URL : http://ranger.nongnu.org/
* License : GNU General Public License Version 3
  Section : utils

Ranger is a free console file manager that gives you greater flexibility and a
good overview of your files without having to leave your *nix console. It
visualizes the directory tree in two dimensions: the directory hierarchy on
one, lists of files on the other, with a preview to the right so you know
where you'll be going.

The default keys are similar to those of Vim, Emacs and Midnight Commander,
though ranger is easily controllable with just the arrow keys or the mouse.

Bug#609475: ITP: purity-ng -- A reimplementation of the classic "purity" game in Python

2011-01-09 Thread Simon Fondrie-Teitler
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Simon Fondrie-Teitler"

* Package name: purity-ng
  Version : 0.1
  Upstream Author : Simon Fondrie-Teitler,
Luke Faraone
* URL : https://launchpad.net/purity-ng
* License : GPL-3
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : A reimplementation of the classic "purity" game in Python

The original purity is a program which reads yes/no questions from a specially
formated file and administers a quiz with them, printing out then
number/percent of yes's at the end.

The goal of purity-ng is a reimplementation in python, while still maintaining
compatibility with the old dataformat, and to eventually be a drop-in
replacement for purity.

Does this offer any benefits over the existing implementation *now*?

Yes, a few. "purity-ng list" will show a list of possible files in the
current directory and in /usr/share/games/purity/. The old one simply
prints a hard-coded list.

It also has the option to print out a list of the questions and the
user's answers at the end.

Additionally, purity-ng has a maintainer. purity is orphaned, both
upstream and in Debian.

Bug#609503: ITP: indicator-application -- Application Indicators

2011-01-09 Thread Alessio Treglia
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Alessio Treglia

* Package name: indicator-application
  Version : 0.2.90
  Upstream Author : Ted Gould
* URL : https://launchpad.net/indicator-application
* License : GPL, LGPL
  Programming Lang: C, C#, Python
  Description : Application Indicators

A library and indicator to take menus from applications and place
them in the panel. This helps with application side changes; it
registers icons and menus and internally uses dbusmenu to publish
context menus over dbus. While its a new library for the GNOME
desktop, it is based on a "signaling protocol" between panel and
applications that was designed in the KDE project to renovate the
systray protocol. libappindicator adopts and extends this protocol,
and connects it with dbusmenu to provide the full set of service
that an application will require to migrate its code.

They say that currently 81% of all comments submitted to them are spam.

Database or Log File On-Disk Format Changes:

   1. The log file format changed in 4.8.

So it seems that its just the db4.8 logs are not backward compatible
with 4.7. Transaction logs are great, if you want to do recovery, but I
wonder if they are really needed. If I recall, they simply grow, until
you rotate them, unless you set specific DB_CONFIG flags.

Hello bots and subscribers,

Since no one has stepped up and adopted this package, I'm going to do so
:)

Today I began working on it. I changed it to 3.0 (quilt) format and
upgraded to the new upstream version. There's still a few things to Do.
I need to do the debian policy check list; also I want to try to use
perl's cdbs class, which should be easy enough.

I uploaded my work to:

$ git clone http://rafael.kontesti.me/debian/html2ps/html2ps.git

I'm not a DD, but I've got a friend who is. He has been sponsoring my
packages, he'll probably be able to sponsor me with this one. In any
case, Jeremiah, Daniel, are you still here?

Best regards,
Rafael

Bug#609295: ITP: naev -- 2D space trading combat game

2011-01-09 Thread Vincent Cheng
I forgot to add the long description to my ITP, so here it is. Sorry!

NAEV is a 2D space trading and combat game, in a similar
vein to Escape Velocity.

NAEV is played from a top-down perspective, featuring fast-paced combat,
many ships and outfits, and a large galaxy to explore. The game is highly
open-ended, letting players proceed at their own paces.

Is that module able to test if the contents of a given file match the
contents of another file? Bonus points if if shows a unified diff in
case of mismatch.

That would be useful for dh-make-perl's test suite.
