I intend to orphan the dejagnu package.

The package description is:
DejaGnu is a framework for testing other programs. Its purpose is to
provide a single front end for all tests.
 .
DejaGnu provides a layer of abstraction which allows you to write
tests that are portable to any host or target where a program must
be tested. All tests have the same output format.
 .
DejaGnu is written in `expect', which in turn uses "Tcl"--Tool
 command language.

I intend to orphan the gdb-doc package. I suggest that the same
person adopt this as adopts gdb. Instructions and tools for creating
the source package are in debian/README.source (in the GDB source
package, not this one).

The package description is:
GDB is a source-level debugger, capable of breaking programs at
any specific line, displaying variable values, and determining
where errors occurred. Currently, it works for C, C++, Fortran,
Modula 2 and Java programs. A must-have for any serious
 programmer.

Hi Francesco,

As a longtime Conky (and Debian) user, I'm definitely willing to make
sure that Conky is properly maintained in Debian. :)

I've taken a close look at #579102 and the various ways this issue can
be fixed, I'm inclined to go with a different method altogether; have
a source package "conky" that provides "conky-cli" and "conky-std"
binaries (and the transitional "conky" package), both compiled without
the --enable-nvidia flag (so it can be moved to main), as well as a
new source package named "conky-all" that provides a "conky-all"
binary, with Nvidia support (the status quo; this would go in
contrib). The transitional "conky" package would depend on conky-all |
conky-std (currently it only depends on conky-all), so Debian users
with contrib enabled would install the former, and those without
contrib would install the latter. If you want a comparison, I suppose
this is somewhat similar to how p7zip and p7zip-rar are packaged.

Why am I seemingly making this more complicated? Well, for one thing,
I personally use the binary Nvidia blob, so I would prefer not to have
Nvidia support disabled in Conky. However, I understand why it would
be preferable to have Conky in main rather than contrib, and I respect
users who don't want to have contrib or non-free enabled in their
sources.list. I've also taken a look at Raphael Hertzog's blog post
about having different dependencies for the same package synced
between Debian and Ubuntu, but that would mean that Debian users would
no longer have the option of installing a Conky package with Nvidia
support enabled (I don't think that Ubuntu users are the only ones who
want this feature). With my solution, Debian users can still install
Conky without the need for contrib, yet they also have the option to
install a Conky compiled with --enable-nvidia, if they want to; Ubuntu
users would not notice any difference.

I'd gladly welcome any comments or suggestions.

Kind regards,
- Vincent Cheng

No problem. It's just two different versions (Iceweasel extension and
Standalone) of the same project (Zotero).

Originally #504058 was about the Iceweasel extension version, but Benjamin
Mako Hill who set it on ITP refers to the Standalone version, so I guess I
should leave that untouched and file a new ITP.

May I suggest to word this "generator of random C programs" or "random C program

Thanks a lot for considering this program, I'm looking forward to seeing it in
Debian!

Hi,

Next time, instead of filing a new ITP bug, please consider assigning
any old RFP/ITP bugs to yourself (e.g. #504058). See [1] for more

Description : Simplified Java Printing Support for SWT

Simple, light weight, extensible Java printing plug-in for SWT.
PaperClips hides the complexity of laying out and rendering documents on
the printer, helping you focus on what to print instead of how to print
it.

In a nutshell, PaperClips provides an assortment of document "building
blocks," which you can tweak and combine to form a custom document. The
assembled document is then sent to PaperClips for printing. PaperClips
includes support for printing text, images, borders, headers and
footers, column layouts and grid layouts, to name a few. It can also be
extended with your own printable classes.

With PaperClips you do not have to track cursors, calculate line
breaking, fool around with font metrics, or manage system
resources--it's all handled internally. And unlike report-generation
tools, you are not constrained to a predefined document structure (like
report bands). Every document is custom and the layout is up to you.

This is a dependency of jameica (Debian Bug #562862).

Hello Vincent!

I am very happy to see that you decided to adopt conky.
Even more happy to see how quickly you came to the rescue!
Thanks a lot for your willing to help!

I really hope that you manage to adopt it soon and that you are willing
to move it back to the main archive, by disabling the nvidia support
(see bug #579102 for the details).

Once again, many thanks for your intention to help out.

Bye.

Bug#633763: ITP: swt-paperclips -- Simplified Java Printing Support for SWT

2011-07-13 Thread Sebastian Reichel
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sebastian Reichel

* Package name: swt-paperclips
  Version : 1.0.4
  Upstream Author : Matthew Hall
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/swt-paperclips/
* License : EPL
  Programming Lang: Java

Bug#633749: [PyHealthcare] ANN: python-hl7 0.2.0

2011-07-13 Thread John Paulett
Andreas,

Putting this under the Debian Med team sounds good to me. I have only
worked with the Python Modules Team before, so I will review the
policies you referenced o make sure I package it properly. I will
send an RFS to the debian-med list when the package is ready for
review.

The git / unit test / license issues are something we need to resolve
upstream (another developer made some significant changes awhile back,
which we will try to merge back in). For now, I will package the
"mainline" version (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/hl7).

Thanks,
John

I forgot to say: We are actually not competing with any other team about
maintainers. If you feel comfortable in python-modules and are used to
work in their repository that's fine as well. You can ask for sponsors
here in any case, that's no problem at all. However, it might be a good
idea to lurk on the Debian Med mailing list if you are working on free
medical software (independently in what team python-hl7 finally will end
up).

In fact this was a good hint. John, I have no idea whether you know the
Debian Med project[1] but if you feel good with team maintaining your
ITPed package the Debian Med team would be happy to welcome you. In
case you like this idea please read the Debian Med policy[2] which explains
what this group maintenance means.

For the moment I just added a paragraph about python-hl7 at the "Medical

I'm not sure whether this is a burning issue if you just want to package
the current version. However, if this is a call for help we have Git
experts lurking on this list (not me personally).

Hmmm, Unit tests would be a nice feature. In the ITP you are listed as
maintainer *and* upstream - so what about reimplementing these tests
into the new version? While this is also not urgent for packaging it
makes prefectly sense to profit from tests.

As far as I know BSD and MPL license are compatible. So just mentioning
this fact in the debian/copyright file should be sufficient.

Kind regards and be assured that we will support your effort of
packaging python-hl7

I suspect those ICC files not really has freedesktop.org as upstream
URL, but are only convenience copies from other canonical sources.

Are you aware of the package icc-profiles in contrib?

Seems more sensible that we join forces on improving that package -
including splitting it into binary "icc-profiles" and
"icc-profiles-contrib" packages.

Bug#633726: RFP: Construder -- Construder is a Minecraft and Infiniminer inspired 3D game written in Perl, featuring a dynamic infinite world to explore and change.

2011-07-13 Thread Robin Redeker
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: Construder
  Version : 0.93
  Upstream Author : Robin Redeker
* URL : http://ue.o---o.eu/
* License : AGPL
  Programming Lang: Perl, C
Description : Construder is a Minecraft and Infiniminer inspired 3D game
written in Perl, featuring a dynamic infinite world to explore and change.

Construder is a Minecraft and Infiniminer inspired 3D game written in Perl,
featuring a dynamic infinite world to explore and change. In an artificial
infinite
structure the player has to gather resources for construction purposes and
his basic survival.

The goal is to get 10,000,000 score points and get the "Construder" rank. There
are multiple ways to gain score points: building blocks in the world (for
example for your home base), constructing items (such as teleporters for easier
travel, message beacons for navigation or even programmable robots - which you
can program to help you building things or gathering resources).
Another way to earn many score points is to finish construction assignments.

Dangers the player might run into are starvation, as all his actions require
biological energy and the randomly appearing robot drones, which - on a task to
cleanup the world - teleport the player far away.

Some basic multiplayer support is provided via the client/server architecture
of the game engine.

The game is in a finished state currently and well playable, ongoing
development is focused on bugfixes and minor game play enhancements. It has
been successfully ported to windows and archlinux. Development is usually done
on a Debian GNU Linux system. There are a few Perl modules that aren't packaged
in Debian currently which are currently mandator (mainly OpenGL::List and
Compress::LZF). Packaging it should be as easy as making packages for the
missing Perl dependencies such as:

   - OpenGL::List - a tiny wrapper/helper module for the already packaged
OpenGL module.
   - Compress::LZF - a very fast compression Perl module. Should not be hard to
package/port as the C does not depend on the operating
system.
   - EV- a module that brings the libev eventloop to Perl.

The XS/C that the game requires is quite simple and only requires to linking
against the same opengl library that the OpenGL module links against.

Bug#633721: ITP: shared-color-profiles -- colour profiles to be used in colour management aware applications

2011-07-13 Thread Christopher James Halse Rogers
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Christopher James Halse Rogers

* Package name: shared-color-profiles
  Version : 0.1.4
  Upstream Author : Richard Hughes
* URL : http://www.freedesktop.org/software/colord/
* License : confused (zlib, CC-BY-SA, MIT, GPL)
  Programming Lang: data
Description : colour profiles to be used in colour management aware
applications

The shared-color-profiles package contains profiles for various colour spaces
and standard devices. When combined with profiles for your specific devices,
these can be used by colour management aware programs to provide a
colour-managed workflow, ensuring that the colours you see on your camera,
scanner, display, and printer all match.

These profiles will be used by colord.

The copyright and license for some of the files are a bit confused. I'm
checking with
upstream to get that sorted out.
