Ok, I figured out I was actually wrong about gcc/g++-4.5. Both
packages are present in testing/unstable and thus the problem can be
fixed by adding a depenency for these compilers to the Debian control
file.

However, I was still unable to build bsnes 0.080:

I updated the source tree to the latest upstream version 0.081 which
built fine for me.

In any case the dependencies should be updated to include gcc/g++-4.5
or all Makefiles should be patched to use gcc/g++-4.6.

Adrian

2011-08-12 Thread Torsten Werner
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

I am orphaning the package in behalf of the Java team because:
- it hasn't been maintained for a long time
- it has only orphaned reverse dependencies
- it has a low popcon value
Feel free to re-introduce it to the team if want to actively maintain it.

Data::Section::Simple is a simple module to extract data
from __DATA__ section of the file.
This module does not implement caching (yet) which means
in every get_data_section or get_data_section($name) this
module seeks and re-reads the data section. If you want
to avoid doing so for the better performance, you should
implement caching in your own caller code.

  Description : Bauer stereophonic-to-binaural DSP LADSPA plugin
 The Bauer stereophonic-to-binaural DSP (bs2b) is designed to improve
 headphone listening of stereo audio records.
 .
 Typical stereo recordings are made for listening with speakers.
 What's missing in headphones is the sound going from each channel
 to the opposite ear, arriving a short time later for the extra distance
 traveled, and with a bit of high frequency roll-off for the shadowing
 effect of the head. The time delay to the far ear should also be
 somewhat longer at low frequencies than at high frequencies. bs2b
 implements both of these ideas to transform stereophonic recordings
 for headphone listening.
 .
 This plugin allows the bs2b library to be used with the LADSPA plug-in
 architecture.

  Description : VLSI CAD system

Alliance is a complete set of free CAD tools and portable libraries for VLSI
design. It includes a VHDL compiler and simulator, logic synthesis tools, and
automatic place and route tools. A complete set of portable CMOS libraries is
provided. Alliance is the result of a twelve year effort spent at ASIM
department of LIP6 laboratory of the Pierre et Marie Curie University (Paris
VI, France). Alliance has been used for research projects such as the 875 000
transistors StaCS superscalar microprocessor and 400 000 transistors IEEE
Gigabit HSL Router.

This RFP was first opened in 2002 (#140103) but there were licence issues at
the time, that now seem to be solved. Here are the exact licence terms:
Alliance VLSI CAD System is free software. Binaries, source code and cells
libraries are freely available under the GNU General Public License (GPL). You
are welcome to use the software package even for commercial designs without any
fee. You are kindly requested to mention : "Designed with Alliance © LIP6,

Description: 3D fractal renderer and animator
Mandelbulber is a ray-tracing application for drawing three-dimensional
fractals, like Mandelbulb, Mandelbox, Julia, trigonometric, hypercomplex
or IFS fractals. It is highly customizable and features complex shading
algorithms (among the others there are shadows, depth of field, ambient
occlusion).

Mandelbulber is also able to produce animations and has a simple
built-in 3D navigator for exploring the fractals.

Subject: ITP: mp4v2 -- a library that provides functions to read, create, and

Package: wnpp
Owner: Debian multimedia packages maintainers

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: mp4v2
  Version : 1.9.1
  Upstream Author : Edward Groenendaal
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/mp4v2/
* License : MPL-1.1
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : a library that provides functions to read, create, and
modify mp4 files
.
The MP4v2 library provides an API to create and modify mp4 files as
defined by ISO-IEC:14496-1:2001 MPEG-4 Systems. This file format is
derived from Apple's QuickTime file format that has been used as a
multimedia file format in a variety of platforms and applications. It is
a very powerful and extensible format that can accomodate practically
any type of media.
.
MP4v2 was originally bundled with mpeg4ip library, but has been moved
into its own maintained library due to a combination of the cessation of
support of mpeg4ip and the usefulness of this library on its own.

The Debian multimedia packages maintainers are still unsure if there are
packages that actually make use of this library at all. Interested
users, please indicate your interest in this bug and CC our mailing
list!

Bug#483064: Still interested in maintaining the tla package in Debian?

2011-08-12 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Hi,

some time ago I sponsored a bug fix for tla you prepared for Debian. I
noticed there is now a new RC bug failed against the package[1], so I
was wondering if you are still interested in taking over maintainership
for the package?

Regards,
Ansgar

Bug#598968: marked as done (ITP: bsnes -- Accurate SNES/SuperFamicom emulator)

2011-08-12 Thread Adrian Glaubitz
Hi,

great that bsnes has finally been uploaded to unstable. However,
the package is broken, it doesn't build from source (FTBFS). The
problem appears to be a hardwired version of gcc. The Makefile
explicitly calls gcc-4.5/g++-4.5 which are not available on
testing and unstable anymore.

The compilers are set in the following Makefiles in the bsnes source:

bsnes/nall/Makefile
snesfilter/nall/Makefile
snespurify/phoenix/nall/Makefile
snespurify/nall/Makefile

The compiler version is set to 4.5 when neither Windows or MacOS
are used:

ifeq ($(compiler),)
  ifeq ($(platform),win)
compiler := gcc
  else ifeq ($(platform),osx)
compiler := gcc-mp-4.5
  else
compiler := gcc-4.5
  endif
endif

The C++ compiler binary is then generated by regexp replace
in the other Makefiles:

# compiler
c   := $(compiler) -std=gnu99
cpp := $(subst cc,++,$(compiler)) -std=gnu++0x

for example in bsnes/Makefile.

The resulting build messages show the attempted invocation
of g++-4.5:

make[2]: Entering directory
`/build/buildd-bsnes_0.080-1-armel-UONOIG/bsnes-0.080/bsnes'
g++-4.5 -std=gnu++0x -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer
-I. -DPROFILE_COMPATIBILITY -c ui/main.cpp -o obj/ui-main.o
make[2]: g++-4.5: Command not found
make[2]: *** [obj/ui-main.o] Error 127

See the build logs here [1].

There is actually already a Debian patch which adresses this
issue for the subdirectory "snespurify", but apparently not
for the remaining subdirectories. The patch is found at
debian/patches/build-snespurify-with-g++-4.6.patch. Patching
the other Makefiles mentioned above should fix the FTBFS.

Regards,

Adrian

Subject: SpaceZero: (NEW) a RTS, 2D space combat, multiplayer net game.
Package: spacezero
Version: 0.78.0
Severity: wishlist

SpaceZero is a RTS, 2D space combat, multiplayer (two players by now)
net game.

The objective is to conquer the space, defeating all enemies.

At starting point you have only one ship and one planet, but you have
gold to buy more ships to conquer more planets.

All the ships can be controlled by the computer (automatic mode) or by
the player (manual mode). You can easily change among your ships
controlling all of them independly.

  Description : The most accurate SNES/SuperFamicom emulator

>From the web site:

bsnes is an emulator that began development on 2004-10-14. The purpose
of this emulator is a bit different from others: it focuses on accuracy,
debugging functionality, and clean code.

The emulator does not focus on things that would hinder accuracy. This
includes speed and game-specific hacks for compatibility. As a result,
the minimum system requirements for bsnes are very high.

The emulator itself was not derived from any existing emulator source
code, such as SNES9x. It was written from scratch by myself. Any
similarities to other emulators are merely coincidental.

It is a very easy to use emulator with great, great accuracy. Best I've
seen so far!

* Package name: leveldb

* URL : http://code.google.com/p/leveldb/
* License : BSD-3-clause
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : fast key-value storage library

 LevelDB is a fast key-value storage library written at Google that
 provides an ordered mapping from string keys to string values.
 .
 Features:
  * Keys and values are arbitrary byte arrays.
  * Data is stored sorted by key.
  * Callers can provide a custom comparison function to override
the sort order.
  * The basic operations are Put(key,value), Get(key), Delete(key).
  * Multiple changes can be made in one atomic batch.
  * Users can create a transient snapshot to get a consistent view of
data.
  * Forward and backward iteration is supported over the data.
  * Data is automatically compressed using the Snappy compression
library.
  * External activity (file system operations etc.) is relayed through
a virtual interface so users can customize the operating system
interactions.
  * Detailed documentation about how to use the library is included with
the source code.
 .
 Limitations:
  * This is not a SQL database. It does not have a relational data model,
it does not support SQL queries, and it has no support for indexes.
  * Only a single process (possibly multi-threaded) can access a
particular database at a time.
  * There is no client-server support builtin to the library.
An application that needs such support will have to wrap their own
server around the library.

  Description : graphical notepad for use with a pen tablet

`jscribble` is a graphical notepad with as many pages as you want. You
can organize your notes within notepads. Best used with a graphics
tablet or touchscreen.

Taking notes on paper allow you to draw and write whatever you want.
Some people are fast enough in LaTeX to set complicated formulas while
in a lecture. Some prefer to draw these by hand but do not like
carrying lots of paper with me.

`jscribble` offers screen based note taking with as many pages as you
want.  [`Xournal`](http://xournal.sourceforge.net/) offers more features
but is paper size oriented which does not make sense on a 10" netbook
screen where one wants to use the whole screen for taking notes.

Another focus was set to avoid any mouse navigation. All you can do with
your mouse (or pen) is draw, therefore you cannot click anything
accidentially. Navigation is done with the keyboard.

I am working on the packaging right now.

Description : Control your L2TP IPsec VPN connections

This GUI is not a network manager plugin. However, it provides a system tray
icon in the notification area from which a non privileged user can establish
and bring down L2TP over IPsec VPN connections.

There is also a 'Edit connections' menu item. In order to bring up the
editor dialog, a non privileged user must authenticate as root.

>From there the user can add, remove and edit vpn connections.

Editing allows configuring various options for IPsec, L2TP and PPP.

Among others, the user can configure eg. the gateway, the use of either
PSK or a certificate for authentication, various L2TP options as redial-
timeout and attempts and of course all important PPP options. It also
allows you to configure PPP for tunnel splitting because you can add
routes as you want.

When applying your settings, all necessary configuration files are written
accordingly (ipsec.conf, xl2tp.conf, options.xl2tpd, opensc.conf up and
down scripts ...).

It relies on Openswan and xl2tp packages as the underlying protocol
handlers.

You can also use certificates on your local machine or, if e.g. OpenSC is
installed and configured, even on a smart card to handle PPP
authentication.

The GUI automatically detects when network interfaces are going up or
down and can (if so configured) automatically establish or close VPN
connections.

This library allows to construct and parse OSC messages within Pd.
It includes support for ordinary OSC-messages, typetags, timetags and bundles.
.
These objects are transport-agnostic, so you can uset hem to transmit OSC over
UDP, TCP/IP, serial port, or in fact whatever you want.
However, you will have to install additional libraries that will handle the
transport layer (like pd-iemnet or pd-comport).

  Description : Implementation of the arcade classic Puzznic

As the original game, your mission is to clear the level of
bricks, this is done by moving the bricks about, when two or
more bricks of the same kind are next to each other, or on top
of eachother, they will disappear and points will be given.
The level has to be cleared of bricks before the time runs out,
or you will lose a life.

  Description : Library for loading and coordinating access to PKCS#11
modules

Provides a way to load and enumerate PKCS#11 modules. Provides a standard
configuration setup for installing PKCS#11 modules in such a way that
they're discoverable.

Also solves problems with coordinating the use of PKCS#11 by different
components or libraries living in the same process.

---

p11-kit is going to be a dependency of gnutls, which is why I am a)
interested and will b) upload this as Priority: standard. The software
is already shipped in Ubuntu (package by Chris Coulson).

Bug#390456: Working on packaging php-net-nntp

2011-08-12 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Hi,

I'm working on this package. The work-in-progress can be found at
http://www.vanbest.org/debian/unstable/php-net-nntp_1.4.0-1~pre1.dsc There
is also a built .deb file at the same location. I'll move the packaging to
Alioth (git/pkg-php/php-net-nntp) as soon as I've been added to the
pkg-php group.

Cheers

Jan-Pascal
