Bug#648485: RFP: gnome-shell-frippery -- Frippery GNOME Shell extensions
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: gnome-shell-frippery Version : 0.3.1 Upstream Author : R M Yorston r...@tigress.co.uk * URL : http://intgat.tigress.co.uk/rmy/extensions/index.html * License : GPL-2+ Programming Lang: Javascript (GJS) Description : Frippery GNOME Shell extensions The tarball includes several GNOME Shell extensions: * Move the clock: Move the clock from the centre of the panel towards the right. This isn't a very significant change, but it was the first extension I wrote. * Favourites in panel: Place a launcher for each favourite application in the panel. It isn't possible to manage the list from the panel: instead you can add, remove or move favourite applications in the dash and the panel display will update to match. * Applications menu in panel: Replace the Activities button in the panel with an Applications menu. The menu is implemented using facilities supplied by the shell so it doesn't behave exactly like a normal menu. * Static workspaces: The GNOME 3 shell attempts to maintain just one empty workspace. New workspaces are created on demand and when the last application in a workspace is closed that workspace is removed. This extension disables that behaviour. * Shut Down menu: Replace the Suspend item in the status menu with Shut Down. The dialog that this invokes includes all available shutdown options: suspend, hibernate, restart and power off. * Bottom panel: Add a bottom panel, including a window list, workspace switcher and message tray button. Because the workspace switcher is arranged horizontally the keybindings for changing workspace have been altered to ctrl-alt-left/right. The message tray button shows and hides the message tray, as the hot corner is hidden by the panel. If no messages are available the button is blank. Right clicking on the workspace switcher invokes a dialog to set the number of workspaces. The extension that I find interesting is the bottom panel extension, since I found that some old GNOME users are missing it in the GNOME shell. Probably not all extensions in this tarball need to be packaged (especially, that there are other packages that already provide same functionaly, probably in a better manner) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#648489: ITP: nuitka -- Nuitka is a fully compatible Python compiler, capable of accelerating the execution.
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Kay Hayen kayha...@gmx.de * Package name: nuitka Version : 0.3.15 Upstream Author : Name kayha...@gmx.de * URL : http://nuitka.net/ * License : GPLv3, uses BSD parts. Programming Lang: Python, C++, Assembler Description : Nuitka is a fully compatible Python compiler, capable of accelerating the execution.# Nuitka is a good replacement for the Python interpreter and compiles every construct that CPython 2.6 and 2.7 offer. It translates the Python into a C++ program that then uses “libpython” to execute in the same way as CPython does, in a very compatible way. The speed improvement is currently not very high, but the plan is to become very compatible first, and then to optimize for speed through compile time type inference. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#560004: packages of lxdm 0.4.1
Hi folks, nothing seemes to happen on this bug the last months and my nice themed old gdm1 was removed from testing by this big gdm3 a few days ago, so I build lxdm-packages by myself based on the ubuntu packages from Julien Lavergne. They work fine so far. The only problem I found is that the user-list in the greeter contains the whole gecos-Data, including telephone-number etc. seperated by commata: Name,,tel-no,(username). There seemes something wrong in the code, probably in greeter.c, but my C-knowledge spans only C-- ;-) Beside this there are some bugs for the ubuntu-package at launchpad.net: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxdm/+bugs Maybe my packages are usefull for others or maybe a basis for offical packages, so I put them in my apt-repository: http://apt.klaumikli.de/testing Hopefully looking forward for an official package of lxdm Klaumi --- Klaus-M. Bug#483064: tla in bad shape
TLA currently seems to be in bad shape currently: - it embeds ancient libneon 0.24.7 and does not work with newer ones (#395877, #402952). - lintian warns it needs a relibtoolizsation I guess fixing those might be non-trivial amount of work, so if no maintainer shows up, it might make sense to remove it before wheezy releases. Bug#648524: RFP: bamf -- Application matching framework
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: bamf Version : 0.2.70 Upstream Author : Canonical Ltd * URL : https://launchpad.net/bamf * License : GPL-3, LGPL-3 or LGPL-2.1 Programming Lang: C Description : Application matching framework The BAMF framework removes the headache of applications matching into a simple DBus daemon and C wrapper library. . Currently features application matching at amazing levels of accuracy (covering nearly every corner case). Note that this software is needed by the new version (0.3) of gnome-pie. Since this software is part of the Ayatana Project I was wondering whether the pkg-ayatana team could take care of packaging and maintaing this (I may provide some help if needed). Bug#648256: [Cherokee] Bug#648256: RFA: cherokee -- Very fast, flexible and easy to configure web server
M. David Peterson dijo [Fri, Nov 11, 2011 at 05:30:09PM -0800]: I am sending now this Request For Adoption bug. I intend to keep maintaining Cherokee the best way I can (which as can be seen is not too good) until the next Debian Stable release, and if no new maintainer steps up by then, will flag it as Orphaned. I've never maintained a Debian package before, but I'm certainly willing to learn if for no other reason than to ensure this project continues for as an active package. What's the first step? Hi, The package is kept in a public git repository, tracked at: http://git.debian.org/?s=collab-maint%2Fcherokee To be honest, I'd love to take your proposal, but that's more or less where we are now - We need somebody familiar with maintaining packages for Debian (and not just building packages, that's where we stand now). This package is not too complex, but is clearly more than what I'd suggest you to start with. Anyway, if you are interested in maintaining packages in Debian, start with the New Maintainers' Guide: http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/ Also, be sure to get familiar with the Debian policy: http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ Greetings, -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#648569: ITA: 4digits - number-guessing game aka Bulls and Cows
Package: wnpp Severity: normal The package 4digits was orphaned and removed from Debian in 2008: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=479098 But, the upstream developer has continued working on it, and recently submitted it to Ubuntu's Application Review Board. Rather than making this an Ubuntu-only package, it seems to make sense to adopt the package upstream in Debian. As mentioned in the Debian bug, 4digits is not superseded by gnome-mastermind, it's a different game. A much older game, in fact, (by a century or more) which may have inspired the creation of Mastermind. See, the wikipedia page, which singles out this particular developer's work as the example implementation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulls_and_cows I've imported the old packaging into a git repository and updated it for the new 1.0 release and for DEP-5 and other current best practices. This work is in a temporary github repo: https://github.com/allisonrandal/pkg-4digits And, I've also submitted an updated package to mentors.debian.net: http://mentors.debian.net/package/4digits I'll be mentoring the developer in how to maintain his debian/ packaging files.
