Bug#657083: [Gentle Reminder]Fwd: Adopt the package
Hi, It looks like I missed the original mail; sorry 'bout that. Though I have done two packages till now, none of it is uploaded yet for some upstream reasons and the other still at RFS. I would like to maintain this package. I don't use this package but use similar one, dot (graphviz) I know graphviz, but it's not really a similar package. Dot is meant for graphs; aspic is meant for line art. While both produce drawings based on a plain text input, they do this in different ways. For example, with aspic it's possible to draw a house, or a person, or something similar, should you want to; the same is not true for graphviz. Having said that, if you're interested in maintaining aspic, I recommend that you first familiarize yourself with its source. I'll happily sponsor your uploads, if you need me to. Also: could you point me to the two packages that you've already made? I could have a look at them, and possibly sponsor an upload there as well. If yes, what was the outcome of the discussion? Yeah. In our roadmap there is the dismissal of the obsolete libraries, like the replacement of MateConf (the fork of GConf) with GSettings, and so on. We are studying how replace Bonobo and ORBIT, too. About this point I talked some time ago with Karen Sandler to find a meeting point with GNOME3 developers to share more libraries possible between the two desktop environments, to reduce the duplicated work. Bug#659159: ITP: fishpoll -- daemon to run scripts when triggered from the network
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Fabrizio Regalli fab...@fabreg.it * Package name: fishpoll Version : 1.0.6 Upstream Author : Owen W. Taylor otay...@fishsoup.net * URL : http://git.fishsoup.net/cgit/fishpoll/ * License : GPL-2 Programming Lang: C, Python Description : daemon to run scripts when triggered from the network Fishpoll is meant to deal with a common situation. You have a data source (a version control repository, a database, etc). You have something built from that data source (a web site, say). When the data source changes, you want to rebuild. The traditional thing to do is to run your update out of a cron job. But even if you are running the script every minute, that's still a whole minute you have to wait. So, fishpoll acts as a network daemon that allows checking to be triggered explicitly by sending a message. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
