License: GPL-2+ and non-commercial license
Description: free implementation of Heroes of Might and Magic II engine
Heroes of Might and Magic II is a classic fantasy turn-based
strategy/role-playing game which takes place in the land of
Enroth,
 a place of magic.
There are a multitude of creature types, from griffins to rocs,
golems to pikemen, unicorns to hydras, and four different
dragons.
Each castle type has six different creatures, from the weak
to the strong. There are six castle types, each corresponding
to
a hero class: Knight, Sorceress, Wizard (Good side), Barbarian,
Necromancer and Warlock (Evil side). There are also six
different
types of neutral creatures you can recruit in special
structures
 scattered about the maps.
 .
Original game files from CD are needed to play this game.

Despite being mostly GPL-2+, AI implementation prohibit commercial use
so this game is only suitable for non-free, as far as I understand.

My interest in this package is work-related and not anticipated to go away soon.

Unix user account to which the supplied user credentials are mapped
or as complex as deploying full virtual machines for a user.

The role of the EES is to ensure that an appropriate site-specific
execution environment is procured based on the site-agnostic
obligations and attributes it receives as input in the form of
SAML2-XACML2 requests. It responds to requests from the Policy
Decision Point (PDP), but can also act as a standalone service.

Bug#662840: ITP: wims-java-applets -- applets for modules used by the WIMS server

2012-03-07 Thread Andreas Beckmann
On 2012-03-06 19:43, Georges Khaznadar wrote:

Description : applets for modules used by the WIMS server
This package was formerly made from the source package for wims.
However, wims cannot be built completely on architectures which have
no JVM available, so it could not enter testing. Hence the separation of the
  source packages.

Why can't these java package(s) just be not built on non-java
architectures?

I just looked around a bit around with
  build-rdeps openjdk-6-jdk
and then ran rmadison on randomly selected resulting packages to find
some that have Arch: any packages in addition to the java ones ... First
hit was
  swi-prolog
You may want to take a look at their approach to combine building both
Arch: any and *-java packages from one source. It seems to boil down to
make the java package(s) Arch: some instead of Arch: all.

IIRC splitting source packages to create multiple source packages (or
reintroducing copies of the same source in the archive) is not recommended.

I'm pretty sure the problem of Arch: all packages being not buildable on
all architectures (because some build-deps(-indep) are not available on
all architectures) has been discussed before.

Bug#619841: RFP: MooseFS -- MooseFS is a fault tolerant, network distributed file system.

2012-03-07 Thread Adam Heath
Any update on this? I just downloaded the 1.6.20-2.tar.gz from
upstream, and it almost works.

* $(MAKE) is commented out in debian/rules.
* All the upstream example config files install as /etc/$foo.dist;
they then need to be renamed for them to work. Since they are
registered with dpkg as $foo.dist, this is sub-optimal.
* Upstream example configs want to run as nobody, but the init scripts
try to configure the permssions as mfs:mfs.

I haven't gotten to much further than that, 'cuz my testing cluster
has 1 32-bit node, and 3 64-bit nodes, and I haven't yet compiled a
64-bit version.

I'm going to attempt to get this working, and will post further
updates here.

  Upstream Author : multiple people

Description : Near Field Communication (NFC) library

libnfc is a library for Near Field Communication. It abstracts the low-level
details of communicating with the devices away behind an easy-to-use
high-level
 API.

Supported NFC hardware devices are, theorically, all hardware based on the NXP
 PN531, PN532 or PN533 NFC controller chip.

I also intend to package the libraries and applications from the nfc-tools
project (http://code.google.com/p/nfc-tools/), based upon libnfc. In the ideal
case a NFC packaging team that handles all NFC-related packages could be formed.
I am not a Debian Developer though, so it would be nice if an interested DD
could join.

Bug#511715: ITP: gallery3 -- web-based photo album written in PHP

2012-03-07 Thread Michael Schultheiss
Marc Dequènes (Duck) wrote:
You're not the only DD having hit a license problem, and if every
(if not all) DD had created a personal repository for each package
causing problem, there would be no central repository at all. Do you
intend to support sid, testing, stable, and security up to
old-stable by yourself in the long run? Do you really think this
 situation is sustainable?

No, the situation isn't sustainable. The Gallery project has no free
time to help fix the license issue. A call for assistance was made to
the gallery-devel mailing list and no one stepped up to take up the
task.

Now that you have tell upstream that it is not necessary, do you
think anyone of them will help you solve the licensing problem? You
also forgot about the trust and security problem caused by adding
any apt key like explained in your installation procedure[1]. What
would happen if your GPG key is compromised?

If you want to help Debian and your users you'll have to clean this
up and make up a decision. If the source code of the SWF apps cannot
be provided, then i think you could provide a package with such
files removed and the corresponding features deactivated. If you
also want to care about the lost features, and if these files are
_really_ allowed to be distributed at all, then you may package them
separately in a non-free package which would enhance the free one
(and provide a helper script of some sort to activate the feature if
 needed).

Please do not consider this mail an offensive one. I just think you
made a mistake and i wanted to explain my point of view. I also
think you should perfectly be able to improve the situation. Don't
forget you may also ask your fellow developers for opinions and/or
 help on the MLs.

I haven't taken offence. I've removed SWF files from previous Gallery
versions since they weren't key to the functionality of the software. I
haven't yet had time to determine whether the SWF files can be removed
from Gallery 3 in a similar manner. I'll test that out and ask for
further assistance if needed.
