Bug#406935: New experimental LedgerSMB package, 1.3.12-1

2012-03-15 Thread Robert James Clay
I uploaded a new experimental version of the package, v1.3.12-1 [r452],
to the Mentors site [1]. The package QA at the site found the following
issues:

1) Lintian warning in ledgersmb source: W
syntax-error-in-dep5-copyright, line 65: Continuation line outside a
paragraph. This one I already knew about thought I had fixed. Will
investigate further.

2) Lintian Info ledgersmb: I unused-override,
package-contains-empty-directory. Don't know why that's coming up
because the two listed directories are being installed with the package
and they are empty. Possibly an issue with how they're entered in the
file.

3) A watch file is present but doesn't work. Upstream has not changed
how they have their archives so do not know why this didn't work. Will
investigate.

Bug#664019: ITP: lintian4python -- Debian package checker (for Python packages)

2012-03-15 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Luca Falavigna dktrkr...@debian.org, 2012-03-15, 10:41:
This package provides an experimental flavor of lintian designed to
check packages implemented in Python.
How likely this package will be eventually merged in lintian itself in
the future?

The good news is: some parts of lintian4python has been already merged
to lintian! :) More specifically, these tags were initially implemented
in lintian4python:

- missing-dependency-on-numpy-abi
- python-depends-but-no-python-helper
- python3-depends-but-no-python3-helper

There are some tags that could be ported to lintian right now, but I
need help with writing tag descriptions and tests (hint, hint, none of
these things require Perl knowledge!). Also, in some cases I am not
confident that the implementation reflects consensus about how things
are best done, rather than only my point of view. The tags in this
category are:

- SOURCES.txt-in-binary-package
- egg-info-version-mismatch
- extension-uses-old-pyrex-import-type
- pth-file-modifies-sys.path

We have a few team-specific tags:
- missing-vcs-field
- incorrect-team-name
- incorrect-vcs-field
I'm not sure if lintian maintainers would want them. Even in case they
do, the code would need to be rethought and rewritten in a more
generalized they (so that other teams could benefit from it). I'm afraid
I have no incentive to do that myself. :)

The rest of the tags do things that are too crazy to be ported to
lintian proper, sorry. :P

Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the openfst package. The package description is:

OpenFst is a library for constructing, combining, optimizing, and
searching weighted finite-state transducers (FSTs). Weighted
finite-state transducers are automata where each transition has an input
label, an output label, and a weight. The more familiar finite-state
acceptor is represented as a transducer with each transition's input and
output label equal. Finite-state acceptors are used to represent sets of
strings (specifically, regular or rational sets); finite-state
transducers are used to represent binary relations between pairs of
strings (specifically, rational transductions). The weights can be used
to represent the cost of taking a particular transition.

Hi,

Am Freitag, den 04.07.2008, 17:42 -0300 schrieb Thadeu Lima de Souza

Many files in the muckl, including HTML files, correctly present a GPL
header, with copyright notices. This is not the case, however, for some
 of the files.

All HTML and JavaScript code is copyrighted by me and licensed as GPL.
Florian Jensen provided mockups for the interface design.

Besides, although the emoticons author is specified, the
license for them is not. It would be interesting to do the same for the
 sounds.

Icons and Sounds (if not part of the emoticons iconset or part of Gnome
default images) are taken (and partly converted) from Gabber and thus
they are licensed as GPL.

Icons are copyrighted by Youngjin artwiz Hahn

Sounds are copyrighted by Todd Bradley toddbrad...@bigfoot.com

Has Greg Fleming licensed his emoticons to you in any way?

Uhm ... no, he didn't. And after so much time I can't figure out exactly
how I came to include this iconset. Actually there seems to be a typo.
The directory is called 'rythmbox' where's the icondef.xml and the
emoticons.js suggest that it's rhymbox rather.
Rhymbox was another jabber client. Unfortunately I don't know which
license it had. I'm pretty sure I've taken those emoticons from there.
Some time ago strange things happened to Rhymbox. Up until now nobody
knows exactly what happened. But some day the domain rhymbox.com had
been taken by some other guys who claimed to be the authors of Rhymbox
and distributed it under some commercial license from now on.
Greg Fleming and Sebastian Deckers continued development as Pandion (see
http://pandion.be). Unfortunately Pandion is not opensource anymore
too.
As it seems Greg Fleming is distributing packages of rhymbox' original
iconset as payware so I doubt he'd relicense it as GPL.

Maybe it's best if I just replace the iconset by some other where
property and license are not a mystery?

Cheers, Steve
