Ben,

Thanks. It is not something I really waznt to do. But w3c-sgml-lib is
really trying to do the same job as w3c-ddt-xhtml and w3c-dtd-xhtml is
IMNSHO a mess. The only way I can solve all the issues is by removing
stuff from w3c-dtd-xhtml until they can be installed side by side.
Hopefully then I can persuade people to stop using it. Thanks for the
quick response.

 If you're willing to adopt the ‘w3c-dtd-xhtml’, I have no

Bug#665341: ITP: libjlapack-java -- LAPACK numerical subroutines translated from Fortran to Java

2012-03-23 Thread Olivier Sallou
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Olivier Sallou osal...@debian.org

* Package name: libjlapack-java
  Version : 0.8
  Upstream Author : Keith Seymour
* URL : http://icl.cs.utk.edu/f2j/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Fortran, Java
  Description : LAPACK numerical subroutines translated from Fortran to Java

The JLAPACK project provides the LAPACK numerical subroutines translated from
their subset Fortran
 77 source into class files, executable by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and
suitable for use by Java programmers.
This makes it possible for Java applications or applets, distributed on the
World Wide Web (WWW) to use
 established legacy numerical code that was originally written in Fortran.
The translation is accomplished using a special purpose Fortran-to-Java
(source-to-source) compiler.
The LAPACK API will be considerably simplified to take advantage of Java’s
object-oriented design.

  Description : collection of mission-critical software components for
linear algebra system translated from Fortran to Java

Netlib is a collection of mission-critical software components for linear
algebra systems (i.e. working with vectors or matrices).
Netlib libraries are written in C, Fortran or optimised assembly code. This
Java translation has been provided by the F2J project
 but it does not take advantage of optimised system libraries.

This library provides a wrapper layer that gives Java programmers access to a
common API which can be configured to use either
 the pure Java or natively optimised implementations of BLAS, LAPACK and ARPACK
such as:
Intel's Math Kernel Library
AMD's Core Math Libary
Apple's vecLib Framework
the popular open source ATLAS.

Bug#665341: Licensing of an old Java code

2012-03-23 Thread Olivier Sallou
Hi,
I do packaging for Debian, and I am currently packaging a software that
makes use of a Java code extracted from your book:
 * Gary Cornell and Cay S. Horstmann, Core Java (Book/CD-ROM)
 * Published By SunSoft Press/Prentice-Hal

This code is CoreJava-Format, a class for formatting numbers that
follows printf conventions.

The issue is this code is licensed under a NON-COMMERCIAL purpose usage.
Though, to be in Debian, the code must be completely free of usage.

Would you mind freeing this code with a Debian compatible license (BSD
for example), which makes it free of use for any purpose ?
Regarding the nature of this particular code, I don't think this would
an issue for you.

If you agree to do so, can you please answer this email with a format
agreement as well as the selected licence.

Regards

Olivier Sallou

Bug#665347: ITP: libumberlog0 -- CEE-enhanced syslog library

  Description : CEE-enhanced syslog library
   This library serves two purposes: it's either a drop-in replacement
   for the syslog() system call, in which case it turns the default
   syslog messages into CEE-enhanced messages, with a CEE-JSON payload,
   and some automatically discovered fields.
   .
   Or, it can be used as a stand-alone library, that provides a
   syslog()-like API, with the ability to add arbitrary key-value pairs
   to the resulting JSON payload.

Hi,

yes we have thought about it but the functionality is

1. you must click manually on add exception as default
2. exceptions will be added temporary

other config need to be set manually at preferences of the extension.

We think development/administration tools should be also provided by

better be careful description so everybody knows about the risks if
this extension will be installed and configured.

For example our requirement came from automatic selenium testing on web

Well, my main concern is that the (probably very) few number of
people who would regularly use this and therefore the net benefit of
having it in Debian does not outweigh the danger of making such an
extension more easily accessible to millions of users. It's good
that there are safety precautions, but still.

In any case, the package should probably be named xul-mitm-me to

Bug#656145: ITP: dwb -- a lightweight keyboard driven webkit browser

2012-03-23 Thread Dererk
Hi Nathan!

By a mistake the packages was set to me as owner, while you appeared to
be interested on packaging it. I've just set that field correctly.

Do you have a have an idea of when could this package be ready for upload?

Cheers,

Dererk

 This package provides m2vrequantiser, a tool to requantize

 input and writes the recompressed frames to standard output.
 .
 m2vrequantiser represents a good replacement for tcrequant,

Bug#665419: ITP: octave-dataframe -- manipulate data in Octave similar to R data.frame

2012-03-23 Thread Rafael Laboissiere
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Rafael Laboissiere raf...@laboissiere.net

* Package name: octave-dataframe
  Version : 0.9.1
  Upstream Author : The Octave Community octave-...@lists.sf.net
* URL : http://octave.sourceforge.net/dataframe/
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: Octave
  Description : manipulate data in Octave similar to R data.frame

In the R language, a dataframe object is a way to group tabular data. The
functions in this package allow the manipulation of data in a similar way
in Octave. Dataframe objects in Octave can be created in a variety of
ways (from other objects or from tabular data in a file) and then can be
accessed either as matrix or by column name.

This Octave add-on package is part of the Octave-Forge project.
