  Hi Josh,
Were you trying to package MythTV to unstable at all? IMO that should
be done first before attempting to upload for squeeze (i.e. actually
get accepted, get tested in unstable, migrate to testing, then
  backport to stable).

At the moment I'm just building some local packages, not official
backports.  I'd love to see official MythTV packages, and I'd be happy
to help work on them, but that wasn't my goal at the moment.

  - Josh Triplett

I recommend starting off by porting the Ubuntu packaging of MythTV to
 Debian.

I actually started from the debian-multimedia packaging, and hacked out
all the bits that depended on packages outside of Debian, as well as
dependency cruft that applied to previous versions but not to the
current version. I've managed to successfully build working squeeze
packages at this point, which only depend on packages in Debian to build
and run; installing them requires a couple of packages from
squeeze-backports (fonts-droid, libmp3lame0, libx264-120, libxvidcore4),
and a locally built backport of libcrystalhd3, and all the rest of the
dependencies come from squeeze.

I presume if these are local packages, you're using reprepro
or something similar to host a local archive. In such a case, you may
as well build packages of libcrystalhd and upload them to your local
archive. Then you can build mythtv.

I did end up building local packages of crystalhd and libcec, which
proved relatively straightforward.

Note that mythtv is using it's own copy of ffmpeg. It needs to be
modified so it can build/run with system libav before it can be
uploaded to Debian. If that's something you're interested in doing, by
all means, feel free to modify mythtv source tree, and preferably work
with mythtv upstream to pass along patches.

Yeah, I do know about that problem. Arguably not an issue for an upload
to Debian experimental; only an issue for having a version in a
security-supportable release.

Considering that upstream went out of their way to remove support for
system libav/ffmpeg (due to issues with different versions on end-user
systems, particularly versions of the command-line tools), I suspect
they might not like the idea of adding it back, or for that matter the
idea of adding support for using avconv rather than ffmpeg. This needs
a long conversation with upstream before attempting to write a patch; no
sense writing a patch that'll never make it upstream.

A Thesaurus is a classification structure. We can see it as a graph where
nodes are terms and the vertices are relations between terms. This module
provides transparent methods to maintain Thesaurus files. The module uses
a subset from ISO 2788 which defines some standard features to be found on
thesaurus files. This ISO includes a set of relations that can be seen as
standard but, this program can use user defined ones. So, it can be used
on ISO or not ISO thesaurus files.

Bug#670062: RFA: fofix-dfsg -- rhythm game in the style of Rock Band(tm) and Guitar Hero(tm)

2012-04-22 Thread Christian Hammers
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the fofix-dfsg package.

The package description is:
FoFiX (Frets on Fire X) is a fork of Frets on Fire with many added
features. The object of the game is to accurately play guitar, bass,
or drums using the keyboard (or guitar and drum controllers from Guitar
Hero(tm) and Rock Band(tm)) and to sing lyrics as accurately as
possible. Many different single-player and multi-player game modes are
 available.

There was no new upstream release for over a year now and the git repository
is not very active neither so this project seems quite dead to me and should
eventually be removed before the next release if no one objects.

bye,

Description: insert up to 60 chars description

IMO, the package name is badly chosen. 99.99% of all Debian users
will believe that this is something concerning the SOAP network
 protocol Simple Object Access Protocol.

Would you mind to rename your package soapaligner?

Charge me up to those 99.99%, please. It always confuses me, too, particularly
so since I was once helping the ever-ophaned gsoap package. I am less concerned
about the package than with the binary, though.

There is SOAP 1,2 and 3 (with GPUs). Only v2 is called soapaligner from what I
grasped. genomics.cn-soap2 would be sufficiently distinctive and
non-disrupting, I think. In the bio world that tool is fairly well known. Fine

Long description:
This is the PEAR channel registry entry for the Symfony Project. PEAR is a
framework and distribution system for reusable PHP components. A PEAR channel
is a website that provides package for download and a few extra
meta-information for files. The Symfony Project is a PHP Web Framework.

A bit of background:
The Debian PKG-PEAR team is currently making an effort to package PHPUnit,
which is a unit testing framework. One of the dependency of PHPUnit is
php-symfony-yaml (see #613425), which is why we need the Symfony Project
channel definition file to be packaged in Debian (to make it possible to
continue to use pear install for PEAR packages not in Debian, and have
consistancy in the system).

We believe that using PHPUnit is moving toward the correct direction of
improving the quality of PEAR packages, by finally activating unit testing
in the build process of PEAR packages (this is a long term goal, which I
don't think will be reachable before the freeze of Wheezy, unfortunately).

Bug#663577: irssi-scripts-20120326 new release

El día 19 de abril de 2012 04:06, Ryan Niebur r...@debian.org escribió:
 Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your work on this, and I apologize for the delay in response.

On Fri, Apr 13, 2012 at 02:39:10PM -0500, Daniel Echeverry wrote:
 Hi,

This week I've been working on packaging a new version of irssi-scripts. I
closed some bugs and updated some of the scripts. I uploaded the package to
 debian mentors. [1]

Additionally, I added a copyright.new in debian/, This file is copyright
copyright DEP5 Update to 1.0 format.

Could you check out the new version and the new copyright file?

I've reviewed your packaging work now and overall it looks really
good. Though I do wonder, have you used a git repository to track your
changes? If not, we currently use a repository located here:
 http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/irssi-scripts.git

This would be preferable because it helps to make collaborating and
reviewing changes easier (this would also replace the need to build
and upload the source package to mentors). I think it should be okay
for us to allow you to push changes to the repository there, if you
want...are you a member of collab-maint on alioth?

Anyways, the only major issue I've noticed is that this detail got
removed from debian/rules, but the executable permission is relied on
 by the script:
 # log2ansi.pl will run outside irssi, so it needs the executable bit
 chmod +x $D/usr/share/irssi/scripts/log2ansi.pl
So, we need to set the executable permission on this file during build.

Some other more minor things I noticed are:

The debian/copyright.new file looks very good, however I think the
GPL-2.0 license definition should replace the text about receiving a
copy of the license with a reference to /usr/share/common-licenses, as
you have done with the GPL-2.0+ block. Also, the License:GPL-2.0+ is
missing a space after the colon. I think it should be fine to replace
debian/copyright with your debian/copyright.new once these small
 improvements are made.

With regards to dependencies on perl and perl-modules, this is really
not necessary since the base perl, which is all that is required for
most scripts, is always installed. In debian/README.Debian there is an
explanation of how the dependencies are chosen (at least 3 scripts =
Suggests, at least 20 scripts = Recommends), and it looks like there
are actually more scripts which depend on libwww-perl than perl or
perl-modules, from the list in debian/README.Debian. I'm not opposed
to changing how this is done if there is value added in doing so, but
if we make that choice we will need to update debian/README.Debian as
well (and should possibly treat the other dependencies consistently).
It might be better to just explain the way we do this to the requestor
 of this change instead.

There were a couple patches (go.pl-multiple-networks.diff and
away.pl.diff) which used to have links to bug reports instead of
proper headers, and you've replaced those with DEP5 patch headers
(which is great, thanks!), but I think it could be useful to still
have the old bug references included within the new DEP5 information.

Upstream Author : David Robillard d...@drobilla.net
* URL : http://lv2plug.in/ns/
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: C
Description : LV2 extensions from the bad set

LV2 is a simple but extensible successor of LADSPA plugins,
intended to address the limitations of LADSPA which many
 applications have outgrown.
 .
 The following extensions are provided:
  * LV2 Atom (http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/atom/) - Generic value container and
several data types.
  * LV2 Contexts (http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/contexts/) - Support for plugins
with several execution contexts.

for LV2 plugins.
  * LV2 Host Info (http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/host-info/) - A format
describing LV2 hosts.
  * LV2 OSC Events (http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/osc/) - A data type for raw OSC.

groups of LV2 ports.
  * LV2 Port Properties (http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/port-props/) - Additional
properties for LV2 plugin ports.
  * LV2 Reference (http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/reference/) - A reference data
type for using non-POD data.
  * LV2 State (http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/state/) - An interface for LV2
plugins to save and restore state.
 .
This package provides the LV2 extensions from the bad set, a set of
extensions still under development and not suitable to use in a production
 environment.

Bug#644767: patch away npm routines instead of depending on npm

2012-04-22 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Hi,

I noticed that the dependencies are almost satisfied by now. Very
exciting!

Your packaging at git.debian.org:/git/pkg-grass/tilemill declare a
dependency on npm which I found odd and looking closely it seems the
only use of npm is for checking if tilemill itself is up-to-date and
allowing self-update and removal from within the application. That will
most likely fail due to the application not being installed with npm in
the first place, and I recommend to at least dorp that dependency and
better to also patch the code to not offer those npm-specific features.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the obconf package.
I'm just not using this software and I don't see the need for it. However,
there seems to be some
users for it, so it would be nice if someone wants to pick this up.

The package description is:
ObConf is a small graphical utility which configures the window manager
Openbox' preferences and configuration settings on the fly.
 .
If you are an Openbox user, you may want this package.
