Funny. This effectively renders the application useless for
multi-application volume mixing (individual sliders per application) as
it's done in pavucontrol.

While I agree that it's good to have options, I believe that the mindset
behind volti is outdated.

I use it on my LXDE-based system on which I don't use neither
PulseAudio nor JACK.
As it worked very fine for me (no crashes, nice desktop bubbles, and
plus an internal
mixer) I though other users might find that useful.

Seems like recent Lintian has a check for it too,

Although it probably could replace logcheck, I would not recommend it to
use it that way because the syntax is much more complex.

But it has some advantages compared to logcheck:
 - monitoring of log files in real-time
 - grouping of related log entries ("contexts")
 - trigger any action, executing programs with the current context
(of course the most common case is sending mail)

This is great to see. I was to ITP this too this, or at least ask for
RFP, after reading an article in logsurfer.

From webpage furthermore: It is similar to 'swatch', which is already
in the archive.

Thilo, do you know what logsurfer has as features in advance to
swatch?

Bug#642934: [PATCH] Add GnuTLS support to Aircrack-ng

2012-04-30 Thread Carlos Alberto Lopez Perez
Hello,

Since the issue with the OpenSSL license seems to have reached a
dead-end because the crc_chop_tbl table is copyrighted as GPL and the
author is impossible to contact [1]...

I have translated the OpenSSL functions used on Aircrack-ng to the
GnuTLS counterparts.

I did this using macro definitions. Therefore there was not needed any
change on the actual code of Aircrack-ng apart from a few lines to
include the wrapper header and also to make GnuTLS thread-safe on
aircrack-ng, airodump-ng and airbase-ng.

I am attaching here the patch (is on top of r2153)

I hope you will find it OK to be included on Aircrack-ng.

All tests that I did were successful. However further tests should be done.

Anyway, if you accept the patch, this will be the default on Debian
(Aircrack-ng built with GnuTLS), so I guess that Debian users will take
care of testing this in deep.

About speed, for example, breaking a WPA key, with OpenSSL I get ~ 2700
k/s and with GnuTLS ~ 2400 k/s. So, seems that OpenSSL performs better
than GnuTLS, but don't seems to be a big deal (+12%).

Best regards!

Subject: [PATCH] Add support for GnuTLS

  * It adds a wrapper that translates the OpenSSL primitives to the
GnuTLS counterparts using macro definitions.

  * Compile with:
make gnutls=true

  * The following tests done with this patch were successful:
* Cracking WEP key with Koreak attack
* Cracking WEP key with PTW attack
* Cracking WPA key (using a dictionary)
* Aireplay-ng attacks: -1, -3, -4 (chopchop), -5
* Packetforge ARP generation and injection (based on xor file
  obtained with aireplay-ng chopchop attack)

  * This patch is on top of r2153

Bug#670999: O: libapache2-mod-geoip - GeoIP support for apache2

2012-04-30 Thread Nigel Jones

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm orphaning libapache2-mod-geoip due to time constraints, the fact
that I am personally migrating away from Apache now, and the amount of
work that needs to be done on this package. In particular for bug
#666795, for the Apache 2.4 migration.

It'd be much appreciated if someone can adopt the package.

Cheers,

Nigel
