Bug#612341: libjpeg-turbo, getting it into wheezy
Hi all, it seems the discussion has come to an intermediary still point... I will pick up the thread then... On So 03 Jun 2012 11:32:47 CEST Bill Allombert wrote: Not getting what you mean exactly here. Can anything be done about it? Anything that we can do? I assume that Osamu refer to this line of the IJG license: (1) If any part of the source code for this software is distributed, then this README file must be included, with this copyright and no-warranty notice unaltered; and any additions, deletions, or changes to the original files must be clearly indicated in accompanying documentation. For example, when I released libjpeg 6b1, I added a file README.6b1 with the complete list of modified files (in attachment). (I am not especially fond of this requirement, but it is not really onerous). @Bill: Thanks for this extra info, this should be provided by libjpeg-turbo upstream and be re-modified by the Debian maintainers of libjpeg-turbo. Most important questions currently are: 1. Is team maintenance wanted and ok (pkg-tigervnc team context). Fathi in the role of ITP holder, we need your statement here. 2. Is it ok to start working with: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=users/osamu/libjpeg-turbo.git;a=summary http://code.das-netzwerkteam.de/gitweb?p=debian/libjpeg-turbo.git;a=summary 3. Bug#676314: RFH: spamassassin -- seeking co-maintainers
Package: wnpp On Tue, Jun 05, 2012 at 10:48:23PM -0700, Noah Meyerhans wrote: I still make active use of spamassassin, but I don't have the time these days to spend keeping up with bug reports and feature requests. Aside from the backlog, the package is generally in good shape and works well for most users. The upstream development is fairly stable, with the most recent code release happening about a year ago. Upstream rule updates are still fairly common, and although they should probably be pulled in to the package more frequently than they have, I imagine that most users are relying on sa-update to keep up-to-date. Spamassassin is written in perl, with an additional small C program (spamc). The source is maintained in svn and uses quilt for patch management. I'm perfectly happy to see patches attached to some of the open bugs, so please don't hesitate to send them in. Ideally I'd like to get a co-maintainer or two, though. Preferably these would be people who run spamassassin in production somewhere, and who are thus appropriately sensitive to the issues that come with mucking with other peoples' email. Hi Luca, The source for ScratchGettingStartedv14.pdf is available in Word and OpenOffice/LibreOffice format at [1], and it can easily be added to the source package if needed. ScratchReferenceGuide14.pdf comes only from an Adobe InDesign source, and in HTML. The only Free / Open Source alternative for InDesign that I know of is Scribus, and it doesn't seem to handle them. There doesn't seem to be a nice way of converting it, in [2] it is suggested to use .ps or .eps as an intermediate step. The HTML might be another option, the most evident one. Would that be valid? Any other ideas? Bug#675467: ITP: bilibop -- run Debian from external media
Hi, quid...@poivron.org wrote (04 Jun 2012 13:16:52 GMT) : This means such functions are unusable if you run Tails entirely into RAM (I believe with the 'toram' boot parameter, or something like that). In this mode, we don't need to arm the emergency shutdown watchdog, so we don't need to determine the underlying physical device, so we don't need bilibop. Bilibop might be useful in every other case. So, find the drive hosting the running system and protect it from user mistakes is what I call 'fix a security issue' or 'make the system more robust'. Sure. I can't wait using it in Tails. Are there any difficulties you think we may encounter in the process? I have tried today with the last release of Tails. It works fine but needs to modify two lines in the bilibop-common functions. Great. So the hard part will rather be to integrate this with existing, working features that *need* to modify the devices Tails runs from (such as: setup a persistence volume). But commands provided by bilibop-common (drivemap) and bilibop-rules (lsbilibop) work partially. This is due to important changes in base-files and udev packages. drivemap and lsbilibop could be easily backported to Squeeze but in the other hand I think they are not so important in the Tails context. Say me what you think about. My take on it is don't bother with these :) For Tails context/design, you should see in /usr/share/doc/bilibop-rules/examples/90-internal-drives.rules the rules titled A or C (forbid access to internal drives, even by root). Thank you. But what seems so good for me, maybe is not so good for the community? I've sent my comments, with my potential sponsor hat on, to the RFS bug. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
