Bug#677821: ITP: wordwarvi -- A retro-styled side-scrolling shoot'em up arcade game
Hi Steve, Actually, I filed an *Intend* to package bug. Fortunately, I'm a Debian Developer with upload privileges -- so, I can make this a reality :) Just wanted to say thanks for creating the game and releasing it on such friendly terms. I've been looking for a nice action game and ran into it when i was doing research on force-feedback under Linux. It was very straightforward to package as well so I've just uploaded it to the archive. It will probably take a little time until it makes it in, but you should see it soon (definitely in time for the wheezy release). Also, I believe this will get it into Ubuntu as well, after a fashion. If you're interested, I have a couple of minor patches that I made which would be of general use. Let me know... Thanks again, --Joe On Sat, Jun 16, 2012 at 07:23:20PM -0700, Stephen Cameron wrote: > Hi, > > Thanks for filing the bug report requesting packaging for debian, glad you > like my little game well enough to bother with doing that. Bug#661187: potential ITP: ruby-hiera -- a hierarchical data store for ruby (and puppet)
Hi, the reason gem2deb (or rather the resulting build) fails is quite simple: 'by default' it'll not honour rake tests, thus it'll try to run the testsuite with all the files listed, instead of encapsulating it into a proper rake task. Thus I'd suggest replacing debian/ruby-tests.yaml with debian/ruby-tests.rake with the following content: require 'rspec/core/rake_task' RSpec::Core::RakeTask.new(:test) do |t| t.pattern = 'spec/**/*_spec.rb' t.rspec_opts = File.read("spec/spec.opts").chomp || "" end task :default => [:test] + honouring 'rake' and 'rspec' as Build-Depend Yet, due to (an already fixed) upstream regression in their testsuite and partly in code it'll not build/run with 1.9.1 tho. I am (still) a member of pkg-ruby-extras (at least I hope so :P), so I'd really love to maintain hiera (since I also use it myself). So the questions remains: building 0.3.0 or waiting for 1.0 to get stable (rc3 has been released ~25 days ago). @PREM: what do you think? :-) regards, Patrick -- NEU: FreePhone 3-fach-Flat mit kostenlosem Smartphone! Bug#642934: Sponsorship for aircrack-ng
Hello, I have just packaged and updated a new version of aircrack-ng. I have completely reworked the package. I switched to dh for debian/rules and also switched debian/copyright to machine-readable format. I backported the GnuTLS patch to aircrack-ng 1.1 and also I cherry-picked a few other patches from upstream that fixed some issues with the current codebase. Among the issues fixed, there are included all the Debian bugs with priority greater than Normal that were open against the last version of aircrack-ng on Debian. I have also enabled the hardening-flags. About the injection patches: I simply removed them from the package. Airdriver-ng downloads this patches from Internet, so this files never were an useful thing to have inside the package. About the airdrop-ng and airgraph-ng scripts: * Airdrop-ng depends on Pylorcon libraries that are not packaged on Debian. * Airgraph-ng seems to be still an early work-in-progress not ready for general use. (Ex: it overwrites the input file when the "-o" (output) parameter is not specified) So I am excluding this files from the package for the moment. I have uploaded the new package to mentors.debian.net http://mentors.debian.net/package/aircrack-ng The package is signed with my key that you can import with: gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 965089CE6B95F882 If all looks ok, then I will need somebody to sponsor this package. Just hoping this is still on time to be included on Wheezy. Once it enters into Debian again, I would re-open the bugs that were automatically closed when the package was removed and that are not fixed by this upload. Wishing to hear any comments. Thanks! Best regards! -- ~~~ Carlos Alberto Lopez Perez http://neutrino.es Igalia - Free Software Engineeringhttp://www.igalia.com ~~~ signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

The intel and amd64 microcode packages are not simple static data-drop packages (next upload of amd64-microcode will add the required postinst bits). They have to: 1. Issue sysfs commands to refresh running microcode and update the initramfs when updated/installed. 2. Ensure that the microcode module and processor microcode will be added to the initramfs. This doesn't integrate automatically with firmware-nonfree right now, and I really don't have the time to add support to figure out everything in firmware-nonfree and add these operations to firmware-nonfree right before the freeze, while I have 95% of that work already done and tested for the intel-microcode and amd64-microcode packages. I am just waiting the amd64-microcode package to get past NEW to upload the required changes to intel-microcode. So, please approve the amd64-microcode package ASAP. I will make sure to provide a forward migration path to get both Intel and AMD64 microcodes integrated in firmware-nonfree for at least amd64-microcode, and if we get to a concensus that it makes sense to do so, also for intel-microcode. But I'd really prefer to defer that work to post-freeze. For Wheezy, we can just add suggests or recommends to firmware non-free for the amd64 and i386 arches, pointing to "intel-firmware | amd64-firmware". -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them. Bug#612341: libjpeg-turbo, getting it into wheezy

Yes. And also, some source codes are modified in the way which may look like they were released by IJG while including libjpeg-turbo copyright and names included. For example: jpegtran.c | /* | * jpegtran.c | * | * Copyright (C) 1995-2010, Thomas G. Lane, Guido Vollbeding. | * Copyright (C) 2010, D. R. Commander. | * This file is part of the Independent JPEG Group's software. | * For conditions of distribution and use, see the accompanying README file. | * | * This file contains a command-line user interface for JPEG transcoding. | * It is very similar to cjpeg.c, and partly to djpeg.c, but provides | * lossless transcoding between different JPEG file formats. It also | * provides some lossless and sort-of-lossless transformations of JPEG data. | */ As I understand, D. R. Commander is not Independent JPEG Group. This is a bit ambiguous. (Since README is modified, this is not totally wrong but still misleading.) I would add one line. | * This file ws part of the Independent JPEG Group's software. | * This file is adoped and modified for libjpeg-turbo. | * For conditions of distribution and use, see the accompanying README file. > @Bill: Thanks for this extra info, this should be provided by > libjpeg-turbo upstream and be re-modified by the Debian maintainers > of libjpeg-turbo. True to some extent. Basically, when we package, we need to check all licenses. Especially for this type of software, its careful review is strongly recommended for debian/copyright. I think it is prudent send a patch to upstream, if we can. > Most important questions currently are: > > 1. First, we still need to fix few things. Quick build and lintian found some bugs and i fixed in my repo. Please check. I did not revert your change for debian/copyright. But changing from LGPL to GPL is not wise thing to do. Did you consult previous maintainer to get consent? Also, I do not understand why debian/* was marked as LGPL to start with while it contains patch to BSD upstream. Cosidering situation, this may not cause much real problem but unusual. Avoid maintaining a source version without assertions and logging for production use or using non-standard macros. . - Space/time efficient assertion checking. - Space/time efficient program logging to file, console, process, or circular buffer in memory. - Selectively enable and disable assertion checking and logging both at compile and run time. Configure action following assertion failure. - Logging via inline C code (as in ) or by extraction of commands for gdb which results in no performance cost unless running in the debugger. - Statement and function-level source tracing under GDB. - Code-to-HTML converter giving only details of your interface and pre/postconditions (similar to Eiffel short form). - Official GNU package.
