and a couple of others too?

Digest::SHA appears to have a very similar interface too.

Hi,

The package has been in the archive before, but was removed (see
#594273). As I understand it, Digest::SHA1 should be redundant, but I
might have overlooked something.

Yes, please don't introduce again libdigest-sha1-perl. The Debian Perl
Group did quite an amount of work on removing it from the archive[1].

Instead the modules depending on Digest::SHA1 should be patched
(also upstream) to use Digest::SHA. See the wiki-Page for templates to
send to upstream to explain why.

Hi,

grails package is progressing very slowly because I first need to
package gradle which is the tool used to build grails. gradle and
grails are not trivial packages and I'm the only person taking
care of this packages right now, so that's the reason why it's
taking so long.

Just curious, which parts of rundeck depend on grails?

Bug#681346: ITP: libdigest-sha1-perl -- Perl interface to the SHA-1 algorithm

2012-07-12 Thread Dmitry E. Oboukhov

 Package: wnpp
 Severity: wishlist
 Owner: Dmitry E. Oboukhov un...@debian.org

  Package name: libdigest-sha1-perl
  Version : 2.13
Upstream Author : Gisle Aas gi...@activestate.com
  URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Digest-SHA1/
  License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Perl interface to the SHA-1 algorithm

The Digest::SHA1 module allows you to use the NIST SHA-1 message digest
algorithm from within Perl programs. The algorithm takes as input a message
of arbitrary length and produces as output a 160-bit fingerprint or
  message digest of the input.
  .
The Digest::SHA1 module provide a procedural interface for simple use, as
well as an object oriented interface that can handle messages of arbitrary
length and which can read files directly.

Out of curiosity, how does this compare to Digest::SHA
(libdigest-sha-perl), which is already in the archive, and supports SHA1
and a couple of others too?

Digest::SHA appears to have a very similar interface too.

I try to package one big project that uses some such modules, so I
thought to package all them before...

Bug#473213: Current status of grails

2012-07-12 Thread Miguel Landaeta
On Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 11:07 AM, Ulrich Dangel u...@spamt.net wrote:

I know that both of them are not trivial but it seems that gradle is in
 sid.

Yes, I prepared that package one year ago. I had to ask for removal from
testing recently because that version of gradle doesn't work with groovy 1.8.

I'm preparing a new upstream release of gradle that will solve this issue

Just curious, which parts of rundeck depend on grails?

I didn't look too closely but it seems (at least for me) that it
uses grails for the webapp see for example
 https://github.com/dtolabs/rundeck/blob/development/rundeckapp/web-app/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml
 or

 https://github.com/dtolabs/rundeck/tree/development/rundeckapp/grails-app

Maybe you can disable features depending on grails in the meantime
or try grails packages available at http://freshgroovy.com/, that way you
can test rundeck until grails packages are available in Debian archive.

Thanks for your great work :)

No problem!

Cheers,

Bug#672484: How does it compare to gedit-source-code-browser-plugin ?

2012-07-12 Thread Pietro Battiston
Hello,

I'm the maintainer of gedit-source-code-browser-plugin, which does in
principle more or less the same thing (ctags-based too).

When I decided to (use and) package it, I first looked at the possible
alternatives, and I preferred it to gedit-classbrowser, which I had also
tried. Honestly, I don't remember why.

I clearly do not mean that you shouldn't package gedit-classbrowser3g,
but I'd be curious of knowing what features it has which
gedit-source-code-browser-plugin lacks.

bye

Pietro

Bug#681390: O: gregorio -- command-line tool to typeset Gregorian chant

2012-07-12 Thread Jérôme Marant
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the gregorio package.

The package description is:
Gregorio is a project with a lot of functionalities. The main interest is gabc,
a very simple and fast language to describe a Gregorian chant score.
The project is for now a command-line tool to convert gabc files into real
score, like for example OpusTeX or GregorioTeX. But it also handles a XML
format: GregorioXML. You can use the tool to read or write gabc and
GregorioXML, and to write OpusTeX and GregorioTeX.

Probably standardize on GPX, also

There could exist another service using the same protocol, so I think

Description : software framework for cross-language services
 development (compiler)

Thrift is a development framework for serialization of structured data,
and the construction of RPC services. It combines a software stack with
a code generation engine to build services that operate seamlessly
across a number of different development languages.

This package contains the compiler needed to generate code from a Thrift
 services specification.

The description is mostly copy-and-paste from the website and will need
 some work, (suggestions welcome).

Note: This ITP (and others) will replace #524135

For the most part this is complete; An upload to NEW can be expected
within the week. Review and/or testing in the meantime would be
greatly appreciated.
