Bug#695848: php5-yaz is non-free

2013-02-18 Thread Mathieu Malaterre
Adam,

php-yaz got rejected from debian since the license is considered non free

http://lintian.debian.org/tags/copyright-refers-to-bad-php-license.html

Would you considered relicensing php-yaz to something else ?

Otherwise I will need to upload to non-free.

Thanks for your comments,

That's great, thanks for giving this a try. We definitely need more good
packages of self-hosted replacements for popular centralized (and often
proprietary) services out there. gitorious surely qualifies and is very
seldomly seen installed in the wild, other than the "main" instance at
gitorious.org.

And I am awfully lucky, as it is a customer paid project ;-).

On a related matter, do you happen to have any news about gitlab
packaging? I understand it's a "concurrent" of gitorious :-), but AFAICT
from the RFP, it was expected to land under the hood of pkg-ruby-extras
as well.

No, no idea about gitlab. The packaging of gitorious will be my first
package under the ruby team's umbrella, so I am pretty new to that team.

Maybe someone else has a clue...

Greets,
Mike

Bug#419523: Open-Office Packaging

2013-02-18 Thread Wolf Halton
I am a member of the Apache OpenOffice project and I would like to help
with the packaging of OpenOffice/LibreOffice.

I would like to keep the open-office name for ApacheOpenOffice, which owns
the name and have the LibreOffice packages have their own name. I do not
care about the status quo particularly, because I think it is wrong and
infringing.

I started a group on Ubuntu to package ApacheOpenOffice, but since it was
just me, and I have never packaged anything before, there is not much work
getting done there. It makes more sense to package ApacheOpenOffice and
LibreOffice here in the upstream, than to try to fix derivative distros.

Tell me what I can do to help.

Cheers!

Wolf

Thanks Mike for taking this up. It was in my wishlist too once I get
diaspora packaged.

You can see the status of diaspora and gitlab packaging efforts at
http://people.debian.org/~boutil/

The graphs are generated using scripts written by Cedric
https://gitorious.org/debian-diaspora/gemdeps

You may start with generating a dependency graph for gitorious. Some
of the dependencies might already be packaged for diaspora or gitlab.
Looking forward to working with you.

Cheers

Bug#489392: Packaging of marionnet

2013-02-18 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Hi Vincent & Jonathan,

I've started some work on packaging marionnet.

I've got an updated ocamlbricks at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/ocamlbricks.git
That package is basically done.

And an basic marionnet package at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/marionnet.git
That one is not quite finished, but can be built and works.

Questions:
Vincent, are you still interested in helping? If so, a good start would
be to review my work on ocamlbricks (I'm not at all familiar with ocaml
packaging), and maybe start hacking the marionnet package (still lots to
do, I will add a TODO file somewhere if you are interested in helping).

Jonathan, are you still interested in maintaining ocamlbricks?

Thanks,

ucas

Bug#700892: RFP: pyopengl-accelerate -- Python OpenGL accelerate

2013-02-18 Thread Marcus Watts
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: pyopengl-accelerate
  Version : 3.0.1
Upstream Author : Mike C. Fletcher
* URL : http://pypi.python.org/pypi/PyOpenGL-accelerate
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C, Python
  Description : Python OpenGL accelerate

This package contains Cython accelerator modules which
attempt to speed up certain aspects of the PyOpenGL 3.x
wrapper mechanism.

**
This should speed up future versions of makehuman (at least on
the right hardware). I built a sample package for this,
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mdw/deb/

pyopengl-accelerate_3.0.1-1_source.changes
pyopengl-accelerate_3.0.1-1.debian.tar.gz
pyopengl-accelerate_3.0.1-1.dsc
pyopengl-accelerate_3.0.1.orig.tar.gz

pyopengl-accelerate_3.0.1-1_amd64.changes
python-opengl-accelerate_3.0.1-1_amd64.deb
( Note: I haven't run this past "cowbuilder" - build
dependencies might not be complete. )

Please free to use whatever part (or none) of this as you please.

-Marcus Watts

Bug#700903: ITP: headoverheels -- remake of the classical game from the '80s

2013-02-18 Thread Fernando J . Rodríguez
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Fernando J. Rodríguez"

  Version : 1.0.1
Upstream Author : Jorge Rodriguez Santos
Vincent Penquerc'h (embedded alogg library)
* URL : http://www.headoverheels2.com/drupal/hoh
* License : GPL2+, LGPL2.1+
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : remake of the classical game from the '80s

Head over Heels is a arcade-adventure game in isometric perspective,
originally released in 1987 for several 8-bit home computers.

The player controls (initially separately) two characters, each with
different abilities, which become complementary when the player
combines them together.

The game offers more than 300 rooms to explore, with a variety of puzzles
to resolve, enemies to defeat and some surreal touches.

That being said, I have some concers about the legal status of the
game's artwork.
While the graphics have been drawn by the upstrem author himself, and
licensed with the code as free software, they resemble very faithfully
the original's, only with much higher resolution and colors.
If they can be considered derived works of the original game, then they
are very likely undistributable.

Also, the graphics are distributed as bitmaps in BMP format, and
I'm not certain whether they are the actual source or not.

A little of advice on the concerns presented will be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Please ask upstream remove the embedded alogg library and package it separately.

The definition of "derivative work", at least in the USA appears to
include "art reproduction" or "any other form in which a work may be
recast". Ultimately though, if the remake is a derivative work or not
is something that would only be definitively determined in court.

Since the BMP files typically do not include information about how
they were produced, you will need to contact upstream about this and
ask them if they have other forms available.

If the images look vectorish, you can bet that either SVG/etc are
being withheld or the author threw away the vector originals.

Here is some advice for upstream about choosing the right source form
for graphics and audio. It also serves as a good set of things to ask
about. The rest of the page is useful advice for upstream developers
of games.

If you contact upstream, please also point them at our general upstream guide:

Use of the original name may also be considered trademark infringement.

Because your ITP/RFP was about running it through wine.

That aside, it makes a lot of sense to close this bugreport through the
upload of the native client (as you did) so people tracking this
bugreport are directly available of that. It's though still a different
ITP/RFP which wasn't updated with the information. The mere question of
"Why not?" doesn't add that information though, it leaves the confusion
around.

 Enjoy,
Rhonda
