Bug#709650: Demo data sets in spatstat R package

2013-05-25 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Adrian,

I would like to package spatstat for the Debian GNU Linux distribution.
I stumbled upon it as a new dependency of R surveillance but it might be
interesting in itself for the Debian Science team that has the goal to
support scientists with a decent set of software fully included into
Debian.

When I prepared the packaging I stumbled over the data directory that
contains *.rda files which are in binary format. Debian does not permit
binary data without source in its official archive and thus I would
kindly like to ask whether there are some human readable sources of
these data files.

When checking your release tarball I can only find hints like:

data/amacrine.rda
-- man/amacrine.Rd

  Hughes' Amacrine Cell Data
  Austin Hughes' data: a point pattern of displaced amacrine cells in
  the retina of a rabbit. A marked point pattern.

  source:
  Peter Diggle, personal communication

or

data/residualspaper.rda
-- man/residualspaper.Rd says:

  Data and Code From JRSS Discussion Paper on Residuals
  This dataset contains the point patterns used as examples in the paper
  of Baddeley et al (2005).

  source:
  Data kindly supplied by Professor Y. Ogata with kind permission of
  Prof M. Tanemura.

etc.

The source is nothing that would qualify as a license to distribute
the data with the Debian distribution.

So my question is: Are there any real sources for these data together
with licenses that define a clear permission for distribution?

If not how important are these data to run spatstat? We could simply
drop the data files if they are not urgently needed.

Kind regards and thanks for providing spatstat as free software

   Andreas.

Re: Processed (with 1 errors): merge shaarli ITPs

2013-05-25 Thread Alexandre Rossi
Hi,

 Unfortunately, I have not enough experience to decide what has caused
 the error reported.

 Should I issue the merge request to make it successful?

Me neither. Seems that the two bugs to be merged should have the same
owner. Maybe forcemerge can help.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I hereby request a new maintainer for gnome-mount.
The package itself has more or less become useless on Linux, as GNOME
uses gvfs/g-d-u on that plattform nowadays, and I requested its removal
from all Linux architectures.

On kfreebsd, where GNOME still uses HAL, the gnome-mount package is
still in use. So preferably the kfreebsd team is taking over the
package.

The package should no longer be built on Linux architectures. In case no
new maintainer is found, I plan to do a last upload with such a
change myself.

Cheers,
Michael

Regex dispatch types have been deprecated and removed from Catalyst
core. If your application depends on regex dispatch, you can install
this package to keep things working while migrating to Chained methods
or other techniques.
.
Please note that as part of the refactoring, the dispatch priority of
Regex vs Regexp vs LocalRegex vs LocalRegexp may have changed. Priority
is now influenced by when the dispatch type is first seen in your
application.

  Description : module for adding test failures if warnings are caught

 Test::FailWarnings hooks $SIG{__WARN__} and converts warnings to Test::More's
 fail() calls. It is designed to be used with done_testing, when you don't
 need to know the test count in advance.
 .
 Just as with Test::NoWarnings, this does not catch warnings if other things
 localize $SIG{__WARN__}, as this is designed to catch unhandled warnings.

 Normalization is a process that involves transforming characters and sequences
 of characters into a formally-defined underlying representation. This process
 is most important when text needs to be compared for sorting and searching,
 but it is also used when storing text to ensure that the text is stored in a
 consistent representation.

  Description : A generic archive extracting mechanism

Archive::Extract is a generic archive extraction mechanism.
It allows you to extract any archive file of the type .tar, .tar.gz, .gz,
.Z, tar.bz2, .tbz, .bz2, .zip, .xz,, .txz, .tar.xz or .lzma without having
to worry how it does so, or use different interfaces for each type by using
either perl modules, or commandline tools on your system.

This module is being deprecated from the perl base distribution in
5.18.0, so it is planned to package it separately. The perl 5.18 packages
will depend on, recommend or suggest deprecated modules for one release
cycle, as appropriate.

CPANPLUS::Dist::Build is a distribution class for Module::Build related
modules. Using this package, you can create, install and uninstall perl
modules. It inherits from CPANPLUS::Dist.

Normal users won't have to worry about the interface to this module, as it
functions transparently as a plug-in to CPANPLUS and will just Do The Right
Thing when it's loaded.

  Description : module to build a URI from a set of named parameters

 URI::FromHash provides a simple one-subroutine named parameters style
 interface for creating URIs. Underneath the hood it uses URI.pm, though
 because of the simplified interface it may not support all possible options
 for all types of URIs.
 .
 It was created for the common case where you simply want to have a simple
 interface for creating syntactically correct URIs from known components (like
 a path and query string). Doing this using the native URI.pm interface is
 rather tedious, requiring a number of method calls, which is particularly
 ugly when done inside a templating system such as Mason or TT2.

  Description : run many filetest checks on a tree

File::CheckTree provides a convenient way to provide a recipe of tests
on filesystem trees in a hierachical way, using the single validate()
function.

This module is being deprecated from the perl base distribution in
5.18.0, so it is planned to package it separately to provide continuity.
The perl 5.18 packages will depend on, recommend or suggest deprecated
modules for one release cycle, as appropriate.

 Text::Clip allows you to mark/slice up a piece of text. String matching (by
 regular expression, etc.) is used to place marks. The first mark lets you
 access the text preceding and following the mark. Subsequent marks allow you
 to slurp up the text clipped between the marks.

 WARNING: this is ALPHA code. More features to be added later.
 .
 When using Moose::Role, a class which provides a method a role provides will
 silently override that method. This can cause strange, hard-to-debug errors
 when the role's methods are not called. Simple use MooseX::Role::Strict
 instead of Moose::Role and overriding a role's method becomes a
 composition-time failure. See the synopsis for a resolution.

  Description : module to declare class attributes Moose-style

 MooseX::ClassAttribute allows you to declare class attributes in exactly the
 same way as object attributes, using class_has() instead of has().
 .
 You can use any feature of Moose's attribute declarations, including
 overriding a parent's attributes, delegation (handles), attribute traits,
 etc. All features should just work. The one exception is the required flag,
 which is not allowed for class attributes.
 .
 The accessor methods for class attribute may be called on the class directly,
 or on objects of that class. Passing a class attribute to the constructor
 will not set that attribute.

  Description : SSL/STARTTLS support for Net::SMTP

Net::SMTPS implements a wrapper for Net::SMTP, enabling over-SSL/STARTTLS
support. This module inherits all the methods from Net::SMTP. You may use all
the friendly options that came bundled with Net::SMTP. You can control the
SSL usage with the options of new() constructor method. 'doSSL' option is the
switch, and, If you would like to control detailed SSL settings, you can set
SSL_* options that are brought from IO::Socket::SSL. Please see the document
of IO::Socket::SSL about these options detail.

Just one method difference from the Net::SMTP, you may select SMTP AUTH
mechanism as the third option of auth() method.

Hi,

I am not using sentinella on a regular basis and I think it (and its
upstream) would be better served with a more dedicated maintainer.
You need not be a DD or a DM; I am willing to sponsor updates.
Alternatively, I am more than willing to co-maintain with you.

Should you be interesting in taking over sentinella, you probably also
want to take over/co-maintain libsysactivity (same upstream).

~Niels

  Description : compute Voronoi diagrams from sets of points

I want to package Slic3r (#689636). This is a dependency for it. I don't know
Perl myself, and don't think it's a good idea to let a Perl module be
maintained by someone who doesn't. So I hope someone who does wants to create
and maintain this package.

Unfortunately the licensing of this module is unclear and needs to be sorted
out. If you would be interested in maintaining this package, but don't want to
do this, please let me know and I'll see what I can do myself.

Hi,

I'd be interested in this package as well, as I'd like to port
Mumble-Django (among others) to ExtJS 4. I'm willing to prepare
packages (in fact, I have already done so), but as a DM, I need a DD
to sponsor an upload for me and I do still have a few technical questions.

So, anyone? :)

Cheers,
Michael

 Draft packaging is committed to

 http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-bitcoin/bfgminer.git

- There should be no build-depends for OpenCL: BFGMiner includes the official
headers from Khronos, and uses dlopen to avoid any link-time library
dependency.
- The ADL SDK (commented in rules) is not needed or used at all for BFGMiner;
instead, it includes minimal statement-of-fact headers (at least in the US
jurisdiction, not eligible for copyright) I wrote to replace the non-free
dependency. As the ADL library itself (linked with dlopen) is part of the OS
when available, it should fall within the GPL's exception for that.
- I am aware of the Ztex copyright issue, have been working to resolve it, and
expect to have it resolved prior to the next release (soon). Currently, this
is waiting only on a license grant from one minor contributor (the original
author and other contributors to the code in question are agreeable with
GPL-3+ terms).
- Not familiar with what libudev-dev [!kfreebsd-any] does; does it block
packaging on Debian GNU/kFreeBSD? Ideally non-Linux platforms would simply
build without libudev, since it is optional. In fact, on systems with sysfs, I
don't believe there is any benefit to building with libudev at all anymore -
so perhaps it should just be disabled?

Luke

It is faster and has an attractive features than grep.
ag.el is simple ag frontend for Emacs, loosely based on ack-and-half.el.

Bug#709328: The BEREC-button

2013-05-25 Thread Erik Josefsson
Hello,

I just saw that the suggested change in the title from the
BEREC-button to the berek button.

Please change it back to BEREC.

BEREC is the name of the regulatory authority to which the button is
going to report. Berek does not mean anything in the context of the
internet.

BEREC stands for The Body of European Regulators for Electronic
Communications (http://berec.europa.eu/).

In Sweden, the name of the regulator is PTS (http://pts.se/en-GB/) which
is why the button is called PTS-knappen in Swedish.

Thank you.

//Erik

P.S. The mail output from clicking on the button currently looks like
this (in Swedish):

 Original Message
Subject: Önskar tillsyn angående www.dn.se (LEK kap6 §18)
Date: Sun, 26 May 2013 07:11:35 +0200
From: Erik Josefsson erik.hjalmar.josefs...@gmail.com
To: p...@pts.se

Hej PTS!

Jag besväras av att www.dn.se inte tycks följa LEK kap 6 §18. Här
följer de kakor som www.dn.se valt att utan samtycke lagra på min
terminalutrustning:

richUserId=;
burt_test=*;
cX_P=***;
__utma=*;
_pk_id.21.0838=;
__atuvc=*;
BIGipServerDN_WWWPROD_POOL=;
__utmc=*;
cX_S=***;
richSync=*;
__utmb=*;
__utmz=

Så som jag har förstått är PTS tillsynsmyndighet för den här lagen.
Jag önskar därför veta om det är så och i så fall hur ni följer upp
sådana här ärenden.

Tacksam för svar

D.S.
