Bug#711811: ITP: foreman -- manage Procfile-based applications

2013-06-24 Thread Per Andersson

There's a more popular/more complicated piece of software called Foreman[1],
for which there's an RFP already[2], as well as a component of that,

could argue it isn't our problem if there's a naming conflict.
I saw this but decided to ignore it for now since there hasn't been any
 activity
with Foreman in over a year. If the name conflict arise in Debian it is a
 pretty
small matter to change it then I think. I.e. Foreman[1] renaming to
 theforeman as
the upstream web page or this foreman renaming to ruby-foreman or some such,
it is not a big thing IMHO.

In Debian its actually a pretty big matter. The more so the longer the
wrongly named package exists in Debian. So it is *much* preferred to not
have it at all, if the conflict is known from the beginning.

I came to the same conclusion myself.

I asked ftpmasters to reject the uploaded foreman from NEW, which they did.

Package is since renamed to ruby-foreman (as can be seen in the bug title),
although not uploaded yet.

Best,
Per

Bug#695336: ITP: printrun -- Graphical host package to control 3d printers such as RepRap's.

2013-06-24 Thread Richard Ulrich
Hi Eugeniy,

with the help of Scott Howard show...@debian.org, the package got
close about a year ago, and I was willing to get it ready for inclusion.
I would still want to, but my priorities shifted to other projects.
And then a web application was added to printrun which posed new
challenges for packaging.
So, feel free to adopt the package and collaborate with Scott.
I will look at the result and try to learn from it. I might also have
some question why some stuff was done that way, to learn from, if you
don't mind.
I would like to work on it more, but a year has passed, and I didn't do
as much as I wanted.

Here is what I have so far:

Adaptive Sampling Kit (ASK) is a toolkit for sampling big experimental spaces.
When the space is small, the response can be measured for every point in the

possible in terms of execution time or simply not practical. ASK tries to find
good approximations of the response by sampling only a small fraction of the
space. ASK features multiple active learning algorithms to prioritize the
exploration of the interesting parts of the experimental space.

* Package name: finalterm

  Description : Modern terminal emulator

Final Term is a new breed of terminal emulator with some interesting
functionality (see the homepage for details and images):
- semantic text menus (easily extendible)
- built-in command completion (currently suggestions from history)
- GUI terminal controls (detection of ASCII scrollbars, collapse of
  commands)
- dynamic line wrapping on terminal resize
- extended keybinding support (local/global) (easily extendible)
- colorscheme support

Final Term currently does not built on a clean Debian box cause of it's
libkeybinder-3.0 (not packaged), mx-1.0 and some clutter dependencies
(linked libcogl is too old) but since finalterm is yet not stable enough
for the archive (it indeed hasn't released already) this ITP will show
there is something in progress to prepare it for Debian.

Project code is hosted on Github:
https://github.com/p-e-w/finalterm

Some Debian packaging code (not lintian clean) is hosted on Launchpad
(to provide an Ubuntu PPA):
https://code.launchpad.net/~versable/finalterm/deb-packaging

I'll push some code to mentors.net once Final Term releases.
