Bug#715547: RFP: icanhaz.js -- Simple powerful client-side javascript templating

* Package name: libjs-icanhaz
  Version : 0.10.3
Upstream Author : Henrik Joreteg hjore...@gmail.com

  Programming Lang: JavaScript
Description : Simple powerful client-side javascript templating

A simple/powerful approach for doing client-side templating with Mustache.js.
With ICanHaz.js you define your Mustache.js template snippets in script blocks
of type=text/html and give them an id as a title for your snippet. Then, on
document ready ICanHaz.js builds a cache of all the templates and for each
template you define (except partials), ICanHaz builds a retrieval function with
the same name. ICanHaz.js also supports mustache partials.

Bug#715169: ITP: adblockedge -- Advertisement blocking extension for web browsers

2013-07-10 Thread Benjamin Drung
Am Montag, den 08.07.2013, 18:03 -0400 schrieb Joey Hess:
 Benjamin Drung wrote:
Are you talking about bug #653112 (disabling the non-intrusive ads
feature by default) or are you talking about patching the complete
non-intrusive ads out? Feel free to join the Debian Mozilla Extension
Maintainers team and apply the patch in case of the former. The patch
would be too huge in case of the latter. I scanned a diff between
adblock-plus and adblockedge. Part of the diff was ripping
non-intrusive ads out and the other part was for renaming the
extension. I came to the conclusion that it is simpler to maintain the
  adblockegde fork.

What's the point in patching it out, if it's disabled by default?

The benefits of patching it out would be marginal. You could argue that
the UI would be simpler and that the code size would be reduced.

It seems to me that getting #653112 fixed, which presumably involves
changing a True to a False somewhere in the code, should be easier than
maintaining an entire separate package going forward.

I looked into the source some time ago. There is no boolean value that
you could flip. It is somehow managed via the subscription URL.

Patches and co-maintainers are welcome. :)

In addition to what Clint said, I would resommend to change the name to
something like su2-pde or su2-toolkit or su2-pde-toolkit.

The reasoning is:

1) It's not obvious to a casual observer that su2 is really su^2
meaning SUU meaning Stanford University Unstructured (WTF is this
last word when it comes to name a software package anyway)?

2) There's a tool named su which usage is kind of ubiquitous
on systems of the Unix ilk, including Debian. So I would say su2
will be perceived by may as something improving on that venerable
su utility (like su 2.0) rather than being something completely
   unrelated.

Bug#395573: status of visit packaging

2013-07-10 Thread Adrien Grellier

Hi,

Is there any news on the Visit packaging ? Did you find the time to put
your work on a VCS ?

On the wiki page, I see no blocking stuff to prevent Visit to be
packaging for Debian, so I wonder if it's still the case.

Adrien

No, I've just been delayed by trying to finish my PhD ...

There was some work in progress to merge / update VTK so that
VisIT/Paraview did not
use their own version, which I will need to revisit.

I should at least put my work in alioth, etc so someone else could take over.

Bug#706060: [packaging] Re: Bug#706060: so how is ITP going?

2013-07-10 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko

On Tue, 09 Jul 2013, Daniel Mizyrycki wrote:

Thank you for sharing all this wealth of information, Yaroslav. I've
got to admit I was a little confused about so many different ways to
go about packaging, until you mention git-buildpackage and I saw you
are using it on https://github.com/PyMVPA/PyMVPA .

Sorry for being confusing -- but that is the realm of things in Debian: Debian
policy clearly specifies only the state of binary and source packages, but
internal housekeeping is up for the developers/teams to decide. And having
thousands of people working on Debian, and coming from different fields,
use-cases and work patterns, different people/teams have different approaches
on how to organize their package maintenance. Tools such as git-build-package
help to standardize flows while allowing for so demanded flexibility (e.g. I
use overlay setups for some projects but not the others etc)

  Thank you so much
 for pointing that out!
The other side of packaging docker has been understanding how to do
proper packaging of go libraries. Michael Stapelberg has done an
amazing job in this area and together we currently reviewing the
first docker library dependency for an unstable release:
 http://mentors.debian.net/package/golang-mux-dev
 http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/golang-mux-dev.git;a=summary
So, it looks that now we are on firm track to release docker in a no
 distant moment.

That all sounds great, thank you Daniel for the follow up! I am glad I
could have been of help, and yes -- I do use git-buildpackage quite
extensively. While we are at it I might recommend also some
generic customizations I use

$ cat ~/.gbp.conf
[git-buildpackage]
sign-tags = True
# use this for more svn-buildpackage like bahaviour:
export-dir = ../build-area/
tarball-dir = ../tarballs/

so -- git-buildpackage always builds for me in a clean checkout under
export-dir.
and signing the tags is also quite neat

Cheers!

Bug#715794: ITP: libclass-refresh-perl -- module for refreshing classes during runtime

2013-07-10 Thread gregor herrmann
Package: wnpp
Owner: gregor herrmann gre...@debian.org
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org,debian-p...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: libclass-refresh-perl
  Version : 0.05
Upstream Author : Jesse Luehrs doy at tozt dot net
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Class-Refresh/
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : module for refreshing classes during runtime

Class::Refresh allows you to reload your application classes on the fly, so
that the code/test cycle becomes a lot easier.

During development, it is fairly common to cycle between writing code and
testing that code. Generally the testing happens within the test suite, but
frequently it is more convenient to test things by hand when tracking down a
bug, or when doing some exploratory coding. In many situations, however, this
becomes inconvenient - for instance, in a REPL, or in a stateful web
application, restarting from the beginning after every code change can get
pretty tedious.

Bug#715509: ITP: su2 -- Software for PDE based analysis and optimization

In addition to what Clint said, I would resommend to change the name to
 something like su2-pde or su2-toolkit or su2-pde-toolkit.

 The reasoning is:

 1) It's not obvious to a casual observer that su2 is really su^2
meaning SUU meaning Stanford University Unstructured (WTF is this
last word when it comes to name a software package anyway)?

 2) There's a tool named su which usage is kind of ubiquitous
on systems of the Unix ilk, including Debian. So I would say su2
will be perceived by may as something improving on that venerable
su utility (like su 2.0) rather than being something completely
unrelated.

I can certainly change the name as suggested. I will submit as su2-pde.

Solving PDEs numerically involves discretizing a solution domain with a
grid. The grids may be structured or unstructured. A primary feature of
su^2 is its use of unstructured grids - hence the name.

I imagine I'll run into more difficulties with packaging. Is there anyone
who might be interested in sponsoring this package?

Cheers!
Aniket

Reply (read, eval, print, loop, yay!) is a lightweight, extensible REPL for
Perl. It is plugin-based (see Reply::Plugin), and through plugins supports
many advanced features such as coloring and pretty printing, readline
support, and pluggable commands.

NOTE: This is an early release, and implementation details of this module are
still very much in flux. Feedback is welcome!

It has special secret sauce support for Moose objects. (And for Moo objects

Hi,

it seems that poldi is not developed any more by upstream (homepage
gone, no commits on

have the devices to use it any more, and the previous co-maintainer also

2013-07-10 Thread KURASHIKI Satoru
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: KURASHIKI Satoru lur...@gmail.com

* Package name: ruby-serverspec

  Upstream Author : Gosuke Miyashita
* URL : http://serverspec.org/
* License : MIT

Description : RSpec tests for your servers configured by Puppet, Chef or
anything else

With serverspec, you can write RSpec tests for checking your servers are
configured correctly.

Serverspec tests your servers' actual state through SSH access, so you don't
need to install
any agent softwares on your servers and can use any configuration management
tools, Puppet,
Chef, CFEngine and so on.
