If no-one show up in the next two days, I'll upload it myself.

No reply so far, so I just uploaded the package to unstable, and it is
now in the NEW queue. I still very much welcome help maintaining the
package. I do not know much about spice myself, just a user of it.

Bug#728388: ITP: gcc-arm-none-eabi -- GCC cross compiler for ARM Cortex-A/R/M processors

2013-11-01 Thread Agustin Henze
On 10/31/2013 07:37 PM, Keith Packard wrote:
I've got gcc and binutils patches in the new queue already; a small
patch on top of the existing Debian 4.8 sources, so the source package
 is tiny.

Hi Keith, those are big news! I took a look in the source package and I can see
some constraints and disadvantages in comparison with gcc-arm-embedded but I
think that we can work together (if you want) and improve your package.

Constraints
* Only C language support. Do you disable c++ for some reason?
* Link time optimization disabled. Why?

Disadvantages
* It's delivered without any prebuilt libc. You can't build a project out of
the box.
* It's a lot of work maintain a toolchain working well. Therefore maintain in a
good shape the package applying some patches by hand can become in a hard
work.

I'll close the ITPs that I've created. If you are agree, we can follow the
discussion in debian-cross.

Cheers,

Description : easily translate Moose code to Moo

Moo is a light-weight object oriented programming framework which
aims to be partly compatible with Moose. However, the surface syntax
of Moo differs somewhat from Moose.

MooX::late provides some assistance by enabling a slightly more
Moosey surface syntax. MooX::late makes it easier:

 - to port code that was initially written for Moose to Moo
 - to write Moo code that can later be converted to use the
   full Moose feature-set if needed.

Bug#728368: ITP: cpl-plugin-xsh -- ESO data reduction pipeline for XSHOOTER

2013-11-01 Thread Ole Streicher
Hi Julian,

after some code checking, I found out the following:

Only xsh_subtract_sky_single.c uses lapack, (functions SPBTRF and
SPBTRS). They directly call the Fortran routines, without any conversion
(see line 354f.), so in principle only lapack is needed; neither clapack
nor lapacke. The call is however not portable and is bound to the
specific Fortran convention (lower characters, one underscore etc),
which is ugly but works for Debian (and Ubuntu).

So, in principle one could just link to lapack; however I could not find
out how to do this (liblapack does not provide a liblapack.so). Linking
to liblapacke works as a workaround on Debian unstable

On Ubuntu saucy, I have to add a --no-as-needed to the linker flags to
get it linked. Since you also contributed to the lapack package: do you
have an idea what happens there on Ubuntu? Is it wise to just add this flag?

Best regards

Ole

As far as I could see, clapack is used only for the
xsh_subtract_sky_single recipe -- at least, this is the only one that
has #includes clapack.h. Replacing this with lapacke (and linking to
lapacke) works without dangerous warnings, and the tests for this recipe
pass as well (and also for all other recipes).

So I would think that the problems here are minor. You can get a test
 version from my personal PPA.

Make sure your libraries are full linked (libxsh in this case), if one

This plugin adds a very simple INSTALL file to the distribution,
telling the user how to install this distribution.

This plugin can be used in a Dist::Zilla configuration after
[MakeMaker] or [ModuleBuild] so that it can determine what kind of
distribution one is building, and which installation instructions
are appropriate.

Description : create pipe() or pipe-like handles in a portable way

IO::Pipely provides a couple functions to portably create one- and
two-way pipes and pipe-like socket pairs. It acknowledges and works
around known platform issues so you don't have to.
.
IO::Pipely currently understands pipe(), UNIX-domain socketpair() and
regular IPv4 localhost sockets. It will use different kinds of pipes or
sockets depending on the operating system's capabilities and the number
of directions requested. The autodetection may be overridden by
specifying a particular pipe type.
.
IO::Pipely is a spin-off of the POE project's portable pipes. Earlier
versions of the code have been tested and used in production systems for
over a decade.

Bug#621874: [Debichem-devel] VOTCA available on my PPA

2013-11-01 Thread Christoph Junghans
2013/10/31 Nicholas Breen nbr...@debian.org:
On Sun, Oct 27, 2013 at 02:55:04PM -0600, Christoph Junghans wrote:
I finalize found the time to make the first steps to package VOTCA for
 Debian.
The source/binary builds are available on
 https://launchpad.net/~ottxor/+archive/votca.

Please have a look and help me to improve it, so that I can hand it
 over to debichem soon.

 Hi Christoph,

Thanks for working on those. They look fairly sensible to me; the one change
I'd strongly recommend is updating them to debhelper v9 compatibility, which
should automatically handle both the multiarch paths and appending CPPFLAGS to
CXXFLAGS. It might also be worth specifying what exactly the dh_python2 calls
should operate on, since those throw a lot of errors during their run from
trying (and failing) to operate on non-python files -- not a fatal error, it
just makes that part of the build log hard to read.
Don, done done. VOTCA uses the LIB variable to set the lib location,
which is obliviously not what dh excepts, so I left this in rules.

There's still a second typo in 11_csg_boltzmann_typo.patch: telp - help
Done.

Have you considered including the tutorials as additional documentation? I
tried setting those up at first with the multiple-tarballs feature of the 3.0
source format [1], which does work although you'll need to write your own
installation procedure in debian/rules for them.
Done.

Policy 3.9.5 was just released [2], so you can bump the Standards-Version
 lines
in debian/control. I don't see any changes that would affect your packaging.
Done.

Description : Encoding and decoding of ascii85/base85 strings

Convert::Ascii85 implements the Ascii85 (also known as Base85)
algorithm for encoding binary data as text. This is done by
interpreting each group of four bytes as a 32-bit integer, which is
then converted to a five-digit base-85 representation using the digits
from ASCII 33 (!) to 117 (u).

This is similar to MIME::Base64 but more space efficient: The overhead
is only 1/4 of the original data (as opposed to 1/3 for Base64).

transformation (the syntheses use-case, where HTML pages are created from
 scratch, is better
handled by other tools closer to the source of data).

In general, to use the HTMLParser you will need to be able to write code in
 the Java
programming language. Although some example programs are provided that may
 be useful as they
stand, it's more than likely you will need (or want) to create your own
 programs or modify
the ones provided to match your intended application.
 Homepage: http://htmlparser.sourceforge.net/
Hi Geert,

I'm aware of this package, but unfortunately it's not the same. The one
I'm proposing is the Validator.nu HTML parser, as used by Netbeans. It's
probably infeasible to patch Netbeans to use the sourceforge one, and it
would certainly be a lot of work in comparison to packaging the correct
dependency.

Thanks,
Andy

Bug#728388: ITP: gcc-arm-none-eabi -- GCC cross compiler for ARM Cortex-A/R/M processors

2013-11-01 Thread Keith Packard
Agustin Henze t...@debian.org writes:

 * Only C language support. Do you disable c++ for some reason?
 * Link time optimization disabled. Why?

I wasn't going to test either of these, and I don't like shipping stuff
that I can't test. If you're capable of enabling these and doing some
testing, that'd be great.

 Disadvantages
 * It's delivered without any prebuilt libc. You can't build a project out of
 the box.

I'm currently using pdclib, which is kinda a disaster, but at least easy
to build. I don't really want to encourage people to use that. Getting
newlib built for this environment is definitely possible, but I haven't
had a chance to work that out. It'd be separately packaged in any case,
as I don't want to force the choice of libc on the users.

I doubt I'll have time to work on newlib before the end of the year at
this rate though; it's definitely something I'd like to see happen.

 * It's a lot of work maintain a toolchain working well. Therefore maintain in
 a
good shape the package applying some patches by hand can become in a
 hard work.

Yup. The patch sequence is very small at present, and I'm hoping that
the CPU-specific patches are upstream by the next time I need to package
this for debian. The goal is to have *zero* patches in all of these
packages, and we're actually pretty close.

I'll close the ITPs that I've created. If you are agree, we can follow the
 discussion in debian-cross.

Sounds good. As is my general practice, I don't like to work beyond my
ability to test or deploy, so I've packaged only what I'm actively
using. Having other people help out by adding the bits they want would
be perfect from my perspective.

fs-uae is a cross-platform Amiga emulator with the focus on gaming. It is based
on the
latest WinUAE emulation code and comes with an easy-to-use on-screen display
interface
which allows to load and save game states, control the emulated hardware, swap
floppy
disk images and much more. All settings can comfortably be controlled with a
gamepad,
though keyboard control is naturally supported as well.

It features cross-platform online play as well as perfectly smooth scrolling on
50 Hz displays. Floppy images are supported in ADF and IPF formats, CD-ROM
images in ISO or BIN/CUE format and mounting folders on the host computer
as Amiga hard disks. Picasso 96 drivers allow high-color and high-color
Workbench displays.

A free kickstart ROM replacement is included as well, meaning that no
copyrighted
ROM images are required to use the emulator.

Cookie::Baker provides a simple cookie string generator and parser.
There are many other cookie related modules on CPAN, like CGI,
CGI::Simple, Plack, or Dancer::Cookie. But none is as simple as
Cookie::Baker.

libcookie-baker-perl is a new dependency of

Bug#705767: O: pycocuma -- Pythonic Contact and Customer Management

2013-11-01 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: To Debian Bug Tracking System 2013-04-19
20130419185520.ga7...@msgid.df7cb.de
I request an adopter for the pycocuma package. I'm not using it
anymore, so it should go to a new maintainer.

I've upgraded the bug to 'O' now.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a replacement (short of using Gmail).

Bug#668284: Spice-xpi package in debian

Hi,

If no-one show up in the next two days, I'll upload it myself.

No reply so far, so I just uploaded the package to unstable, and it is
now in the NEW queue. I still very much welcome help maintaining the
package. I do not know much about spice myself, just a user of it.

Thanks for the upload, I'm also only a user of spice and I was not
really planning to maintain this package in the archive.

Cheers
