Upstream Author : OpenStack Development Mailing List
openstack-...@lists.openstack.org
* URL : https://github.com/openstack/tuskar
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : control how and where OpenStack services are deployed

Tuskar gives administrators the ability to control how and where OpenStack
services are deployed across the datacenter. Using Tuskar, administrators
divide hardware into resource classes that allow predictable elastic scaling
as cloud demands grow. This resource orchestration allows Tuskar users to
ensure SLAs, improve performance, and maximize utilization across the
 datacenter.
 .
Tuskar services are available via a RESTful API and management console through
which administrators are able to classify their hardware and define their
datacenters. In addition, Tuskar components provide administrators with
performance monitoring, health statistics, and usage metrics, aiding in
capacity planning and hardware procurement decisions.

This is a client for the OpenStack Tuskar API. There's a Python API

Installing this package gets you a shell command, that you can use to
 interact with Tuskar's API.

Bug#432298: RM: elvis -- RoQA; orphaned; abandoned upstream

2013-12-15 Thread Adrian Bunk
reassign 432298 ftp.debian.org
retitle 432298 RM: elvis -- RoQA; orphaned; abandoned upstream
thanks

elvis is dead upstream since 2004.

It even lacks UTF-8 support.[1]

Popcon shows some users for elvis,[2] but considering that it installs
itself as vi alternative with a higher priority than vim that doesn't
indicate that users actually want to use elvis.

Description : A simple app to convert the time and date between two
different zones.

This simple app, developed in Java, is to allow the user to convert the time
between two timezones. To enhance the user experience, I have included features
such as:

1. Allow the user to choose a timezone for only certain regions.
2. Allow the user to save/restore the current time zone info.

The time zones are taken from the Java TimeZone Class.

The code is currently maintained on GitHub
(https://github.com/DMaiorino/TimeZoneConverter)

I request an adopter for the libmikmod package. It recently got a new
upstream maintainer and new, much improved releases have been made,
which should be packaged. I lack the time to take good care of the
package, hence the request for a new maintainer. This goes hand in
hand with the mikmod package, which is also up for adoption, and
should be maintained by the same person or team.

The package description is:
This library is capable of playing samples as well as module
files and was originally written by Jean-Paul Mikkers (MikMak) for DOS. It has
subsequently been hacked by many hands and now runs on many Unix flavours.
It uses the OSS /dev/dsp driver included in all recent kernels for output,
and will also write wav files.
 .
Supported file formats include mod, stm, s3m, mtm, xm, and it.

I have been reading and reviewing Introduction to Linux - A Hands on
Guide by Machtelt Garrels, as seen at
http://tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/html/
The document is under the GFDL, but I don't think there are better
almost free documents for Linux beginners. I couldn't find any
explanation for not packaging it.
Here's a reply from Machtelt to a mail I sent him :

Finally, I have checked the doc-linux-* Debian packages which include
most TLDP documents. I was expecting to find your document in either
doc-linux-nonfree-text or doc-linux-nonfree-html (due to the GFDL
issue). I couldn't find the document anywhere (not in doc-linux-text
and
doc-linux-html neither). I also checked the changelogs for clues.
I was hoping that you knew why your document isn't included in Debian.
Despite being non-free and RedHat-centric, to say the least, I think it

I admit, I have been a RedHat and Fedora user for a long time, but now I
have my own Debian server :) Maybe a couple more updates will convince
the Debian people to include it.
---

He seems to have no idea why his guide isn't in Debian.
Please package this guide or explain why it's not done. Otherwise, are
there good similar guides?
Note that I'll report if I can convince him to relicense his guide so
that it could go in main.

Bug#732200: ITP: Open Time Zone Converter -- A simple app to convert the time and date between two different zones.

2013-12-15 Thread Steve Cotton
Hi David,

At the moment the app only supports US English, with the
MM/DD/ date format. The system-supplied date widgets on the
left panel localise themselves; please use system-supplied widgets
on the right hand panel too.

TimeZoneMenu.java probably needs a copyright attribution for the
list of timezones. However, to localise the app these would
need to be replaced by getting them from the Java environment.

Java package names should put the top-level domain first
(com.dmaiorino.OpenTimeZoneConverter).

The email address that your wnpp bug report comes from seems to
have a missing 'l' in it.

I'm not a DD, so can not offer to upload your package even after
those changes.

Cheers,
Steve

Description : The GNU C Compiler version 4.3

Debian wheezy currently has packages for gcc versions (at least) 4.4,
4.5 and 4.6. Version 4.3 is conspicuously missing (see bug #650238
which is closed as wontfix), and specifically version 4.3.6 does not
appear to have ever been packaged by Debian.

This is a serious problem, because gcc-4.3 is the one used to compile
the kernel on Debian squeeze (package linux-headers-2.6.32-5-686
depends on it). This means it is simply impossible to compile kernel
modules for Debian squeeze from Debian wheezy.

It seems pretty disastrous that support for old gcc versions does not
extend as far back in time as the version used for the kernel in the
immediately previous version of Debian.

A stream buffer is a stream-based representation of an XML

Conceptually a stream buffer is similar to the representation

difference that a stream buffer does not store hierarchical
information like parent and sibling information. The deferred
DOM implementation reduces memory usage when large XML documents
are parsed but only a subset of the document needs to be processed.
(Note that using deferred DOM will be more expensive than
non-deferred DOM in terms of memory and processing if all
 the document is traversed.)
 .
Stream buffers may be used as an efficient alternative to DOM where:
 * most or all of an XML info-set will eventually get traversed; and/or
 * targeted access to certain parts of an XML info-set are required
and need to be efficiently processed using stream-based APIs like
   SAX or StAX.

Bug#732200: ITP: Open Time Zone Converter -- A simple app to convert the time and date between two different zones.

2013-12-15 Thread maiorinodavid
Hello Steve,

Thanks for the the reply and review. This is my first time at this, sorry for
my ignorance.

Thank you for the input. Just one question, but for the right panel, this is
calculated based on the left panel. If I understand correctly, I should not do
a calculation, but have this time taken from the system? I will start to work
on the other changes :)

Once these changes are made, do I just need to update the  current bug report?

Thanks again for the help!

- David

Cheers,
Steve

This may be what the work is called upstream, but it is not suitable for
the Debian package name. See Policy §5.6.1. Also, you will need to
conform to the conventions of Java packages in Debian; I'll leave it up
to you to research those from the Debian Java team.

Please propose (and prepare to defend :-) in this field a suitable
Debian package name for the work.

Bug#732248: ITP: python-taskflow -- A library to complete workflows/tasks in HA manner

2013-12-15 Thread Sebastien Badia
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sebastien Badia s...@sebian.fr

* Package name: python-taskflow
  Version : 0.1.1
Upstream Author : Taskflow Development Mailing List
taskflow-...@lists.launchpad.net
* URL : https://github.com/stackforge/taskflow
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : A library to complete workflows/tasks in HA manner

Taskflow is a Python library for OpenStack that helps make task
execution easy, consistent, and reliable. It allows the creation of
lightweight task objects and/or functions that are combined together
into flows (aka: workflows). It includes engines for running these
flows in a manner that can be stopped, resumed, and safely reverted.
Projects implemented using the Taskflow library enjoy added state
resiliency, fault tolerance and simplified crash recovery. Think of it
as a way to protect an action, similar to the way transactions protect
operations in a RDBMS. If a manager process is terminated while an
action was in progress, there is a risk that unprotected code would
leave the system in a degraded or inconsistent state. With Taskflow,
interrupted actions may be resumed or rolled back automatically when a
manager process is resumed.
..
Using Taskflow to organize actions into lightweight task objects also
makes atomic code sequences easily testable (since a task does one and
only one thing). A flow facilitates the execution of a defined sequence
of ordered tasks (and imposes constraints on the way an engine can run
those tasks). A flow is a structure (a set of tasks linked together), so
it allows the calling code and the workflow to be disconnected so flows
can be reused. Taskflow provides a few mechanisms for structuring
running flows and lets the developer pick and choose which one will work
for their needs.

oriented variant, linequiz, which can be used as a backend.

Please see http://mupacs.sourceforge.net/ for information about MuPACS.

mupacs.el is similar to maplev.el or matlab.el so I thought it should
also be part of emacs-goodies-el.

There exists a free computer algebra system (GIAC/xcas
http://www-fourier.ujf-grenoble.fr/~parisse/giac.html) capable of using
MuPACS to interract with emacs so that none of the objections of bug
#338333 does apply.
