Bug#739481: ITP: python-zake -- provides a set of testing utilities for the kazoo library

2014-02-18 Thread Thomas Goirand
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thomas Goirand

* Package name: python-zake
  Version : 0.0.14
  Upstream Author : Joshua Harlow
* URL : https://github.com/yahoo/Zake
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : provides a set of testing utilities for the kazoo library

 Zake is a python package that works to provide a nice set of testing utilities
 for the kazoo library.
 .
 It includes the following functionality:
  * Storage access (for viewing what was saved/created).
  * Kazoo *mostly* compatible client API.
  * Sync/transaction/create/get/delete... commands.
  * Listener support.
  * And more...
 .
 It simplifies testing by providing a client that has a similar API as the
 kazoo client so that your tests (or applications/libraries that use kazoo) do
 not require a real zookeeper server to be tested with (since this is not
 available in all testing environments).

Note: This package is needed by the latest release of python-taskflow, which
is one of the new key libraries of OpenStack.

I appreciate your help and would like to see how it will go with the
git package with cgit. I could contribute as a co-maintainer for cgit
in that case.

Basically I think it's a bad idea to add more complexity to the git
package and cgit/git should be decoupled in some way as Oxan stated,
but we might be able to overcome possible downsides with your (the git
maintainer's) assurance.

Regards,

Hi,

As mentioned a few times before, I think it would be simplest to just
add cgit to the git package. If someone using cgit wants to be a
co-maintainer I'm happy to let them maintain the cgit packaging
however they like.

I can write a patch demonstrating what I mean making use of your
packaging from http://git.keshi.org/debian/cgit.git if you like. What
do you think?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Bug#515793: RFP: cgit -- C-code Web Front-end to GIT

2014-02-18 Thread YAEGASHI Takeshi
Hi,

Without noticing this RFP [1], I made another ITP [2] and experimental
cgit package [3][4] which contains full source of git of specific
version.

I know such a package is undesirable, but I wonder if it's completely
unacceptable for the Debian distribution. Isn't it possible for
collaborative developers to keep maintaining this with support from
the security team? [5] (I'd like to ask for co-maintainers if my
package happens to be accepted)

Oxan, have you already worked on your own cgit package built with
something like git-source binary package? Please let me know if you
made any progress. I might be able to contribute to your package!

Thanks,

  Description : Simple and powerful network transmission of ZFS snapshots
 simplesnap is a simple way to send ZFS snapshots across a net‐
 work. Although it can serve many purposes, its primary goal is
 to manage backups from one ZFS filesystem to a backup filesystem
 also running ZFS, using incremental backups to minimize network
 traffic and disk usage.
 .
 simplesnap it is designed to perfectly compliment
 snapshotting tools, permitting rotating backups with arbitrary
 retention periods. It lets multiple machines back up a single
 target, lets one machine back up multiple targets, and keeps it
 all straight.
 .
 simplesnap is easy; there is no configuration file needed. One
 ZFS property is available to exclude datasets/filesystems. ZFS
 datasets are automatically discovered on machines being backed
 up.
 .
 simplesnap is robust in the face of interrupted
 transfers, and needs little help to keep running.
 .
 nlike many similar tools, simplesnap does not
 require full root access to the machines being backed up. It
 runs only a small wrapper as root, and the wrapper has only three
 commands it implements.

  Description : Automatic snapshot creation and removal for ZFS
 zfSnap is a simple sh script to make rolling zfs snapshots with cron. The main
 advantage of zfSnap is it's written in 100% pure /bin/sh so it doesn't require
 any additional software to run.
 .
 zfSnap keeps all information about snapshot in snapshot name.
 .
 zfs snapshot names are in the format of Timestamp--TimeToLive.
 .
 Timestamp includes the date and time when the snapshot was created and
 TimeToLive (TTL) is the amount of time for the snapshot to stay alive before
 it's ready for deletion.

Bug#734753: About your intent to packaging wallabag

2014-02-18 Thread Victor Moral

On 18/02/14 16:45, Antoine Beaupré
  wrote:

Of
  course! All help is welcome! :) In fact, the message you saw was a
  "RFP" (Request For Package) and not an "ITP" (Intent To Package).
  So in
  reality, I wasn't planning to package this myself, but merely
  looking
  for someone else to make a package.

Excellent ! Then I'll begin to read the links and build a skeleton
for it.  The name has changed from poche to wallabag some weeks ago
(see this link
for a explanation). I think that the package name will be
wallabag-0.1-1, isn't it ?

  But if you make a package, I can review it and upload it for you, for
sure.

Thanks you very much for your help.

PS: I've added the bug email to this message as you has suggested.

Regards

* Package name: ruby-hashery
  Version : 2.1.0
  Upstream Author : Name
* URL : http://rubyworks.github.com/hashery
* License : Expat or BSD-2-clause. Needs clarification from upstream
  Programming Lang: Ruby
  Description : facets-bread collection of Hash-like classes

 The Hashery is a tight collection of Hash-like classes. Included among its many
 offerings are the auto-sorting Dictionary class, the efficient LRUHash, the
 flexible OpenHash and the convenient KeyHash. Nearly every class is a subclass
 of the CRUDHash which defines a CRUD model on top of Ruby's standard Hash
 making it a snap to subclass and augment to fit any specific use case.

 This is a dependency for a newer version of ruby-pdf-reader.

 Cheers,

 Cédric

I think looking at the existing bugs and trying to fix them is a good
start. I can help with Ruby and packaging.

I just pushed 2 commits there, and can help others who want to
contribute.

Let's use #debian-qa on IRC, I guess? (I'm terceiro on IRC)

Yup, please go ahead and upload/maintain the package, I hereby
retract my ITP since I do indeed not have enough time to work on this.

Bitcoin Armory was designed from the ground up to provide the highest
level of security for heavily-invested Bitcoin users, while still
maintaining a high degree of usability and convenience. Its ease of use
and plethora of advanced features makes it one of the most popular
alternative Bitcoin clients, and is featured on the main Bitcoin website.

 .
   * Against my better judgement, adopt the package (Closes: #657967).
   * New upstream release, version 0.5.0 according to Fedora's numbering
 (Closes: #736947).
   * Bump standards version to 3.9.5.0 (no changes needed).
   * In debian/patches:
 - prelink.h.patch: Dropped; not needed except for truly ancient libc
   versions (2003ish).
 - init.patch, timestamp.patch: Refreshed.
 - r187.patch, r188.patch, r189.patch, r190.patch: Dropped; part of
   new upstream release.
 - open-with-mode.patch: Dropped; fixed in upstream r176
   "m4/libelf.m4: Resync with version of code in aclocal.m4."
 - ts.patch, prelink.8.patch, cache.patch: Dropped; they were
   previously commented out in debian/patches. ts skipped some tests
   and the other two were fixed upstream.
 - dso.c.patch, layout.c.patch, ts2.patch: Deleted; they were
   unreferenced in debian/patches and look like old debugging stuff.
   * debian/prelink.spec: Sync with Fedora -- this is used in generating
 the upstream changelog.
   * debian/copyright: Convert to machine-readable format 1.0 (aka DEP-5).
   * Add a debian/watch file.

I find this package very useful and would hate to see it languish.

In the next few days I will at least prepare an upload that fixes
#705856 (the one with a patch) and look at the other bugs.

Are there any specific quirks I should know about?

I would be very grateful if you could handle that. Just converting the
pre-move commits to Git would be enough. That will give me three git
repositories (pre-move, post-move, post-takeover) that I could replay
one after another.

It is unrealistic to pretend that I have enough time to maintain Nusoap.
I simply do too many things in Debian these days. It would be nice if
someone could take over maintainership of Nusoap.
