Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm no longer interested in the zeromq packages so I'm orphaning them. zeromq
tracks the legacy 2.x upstream branch, which will not receive any new upstream
releases, and should probably be removed as soon as there are no reverse
dependencies left (libzeromq-perl and ruby-ffi-rzmq are the only reverse
dependencies as of now) in favor of the zeromq3 package.

The package is maintained in git at:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/zeromq.git

The package description is:
ØMQ is a library which extends the standard socket interfaces with features
traditionally provided by specialised messaging middleware products.
 .
ØMQ sockets provide an abstraction of asynchronous message queues, multiple
messaging patterns, message filtering (subscriptions), seamless access to
 multiple transport protocols and more.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm no longer interested in the zeromq packages so I'm orphaning them. zeromq3
is in good state and with an active and responsive upstream. The only
outstanding task should be to enable CurveZMQ support as soon as the libsodium
package enters Debian (cfr. #701962).

Also note that, despite the name, the zeromq3 source package is actually
tracking upstream's 4.x branch, and should probably be renamed to zeromq as
soon as the actual zeromq package is removed.

The package is maintained in git at:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/zeromq3.git

The package description is:
ØMQ is a library which extends the standard socket interfaces with features
traditionally provided by specialised messaging middleware products.
 .
ØMQ sockets provide an abstraction of asynchronous message queues, multiple
messaging patterns, message filtering (subscriptions), seamless access to
 multiple transport protocols and more.

Hi Christian,

How is the zeromq{,3} adoption goes? I've an updated package, ready to
be uploaded and would like to continue with their maintenance. As you
have the ITA announced, I don't want to blindly take over.

Laszlo/GCS

In that case, feel free to take over the ITA. So far I have only briefly
looked at the packages, and I'd have to find a sponsor first anyway.

Bug#742222: ITP: dlang-libevent - D bindings for libevent library

2014-03-20 Thread Konstantinos Margaritis
Package: wnpp
Severity: Wishlist

I've decided to improve the D language support in Debian, and as part
of that process, I intend to package several D bindings for common
libraries for Debian. First one is the libevent D bindings.

Resulting package name: dlang-libevent (following golang binding
packages)

URL: https://github.com/D-Programming-Deimos/libevent
Copyright: BSD 3-clause

It's a source-only arch:all package that can be used from either gdc or
ldc (which I already maintain now) as it's installed
in /usr/include/d/common. This follows behaviour in other distros like
Arch which also support multiple D compilers but include
compiler-agnostic sources in /usr/include/dlang/common.

Forkstat monitors process fork(), exec() and exit() activity.
It is useful for monitoring system behaviour and to track down
rogue processes that are spawning off short or long lived processes
that are potentially abusing the system with undetected activity that
stardard tools such as ps and top cannot easily detect.

Bug#701962: libsodium packaging

2014-03-20 Thread GCS
Hi Raúl,

How is the libsodium packaging stand? You got advices from Alessandro
Ghedini almost a month ago, but I don't see any reply from you.
It would be good to have it updated (due to removed bashism[1]) and
uploaded to Debian. May I finish the packaging based on your work?
Make you the maintainer / uploader (based on your wish) while I'd take
the other position.

Regards,
Laszlo/GCS

Description : collect and cache metadata, run hooks on changes

os-collect-config collects collects data from defined configuration sources
and runs a defined hook whenever the metadata has changed. You must define
what sources to collect configuration data from in os-collect-config
configuration file at /etc/os-collect-config/sources.ini. These sources will
be polled and whenever any of them changes, default.command will be run. A
file will be written to the cache dir, os_config_files.json, which will be a
json list of the file paths to the current copy of each metadata source. This
list will also be set as a colon separated list in the environment variable
OS_CONFIG_FILES for the command that is run.

Bug#742179: ITP: ug -- software framework for finite element methods

2014-03-20 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ansgar Burchardt

* Package name: ug
  Version : 3.10.0
* URL :
http://www.iwr.uni-heidelberg.de/wiki-link-pages/wiki-software
* License : LGPL-2.1+
  Programming Lang: C/C++
Description : software framework for finite element methods

UG is a flexible software tool for the numerical solution of partial
differential equations on unstructured meshes, with a focus on
multigrid methods. It has a very powerful grid manager, which supports
two- and three-dimensional grids with mixed element types. The grids
can be adaptively refinement using either classic
red/green-refinement, or pure red refinement with hanging nodes. All
this is fully parallelized and can run on large distributed machines.

UG supports many different discretization schemes. UG can be used
through its built-in shell, using a special scripting language. It can
also be used as a library from other finite element codes.

UG is one of the grids supported by DUNE[1].

  [1]

I intend to maintain the package in the Debian Science Maintainers
team.

Ansgar
