Bug#671455: ITA: cmph -- C Minimal Perfect Hashing Library

Joseph, thanks for the cc. Glad to see cmph getting some love.
I'm too busy at the moment to return to working on Debian.
I'd like that to change, but for now that's it.

well -- about 99% (I can think of fail2ban which not... not sure otherwise) of
our packages concern Debian Science one way or another... also many of them
concern Debian Med...

but yeah -- for this one I guess it would be good to place it under

This looks awesome! It looks like it fixes all the problems I've been
having with OpenSCAD. I very much want this in Debian, but if anyone
wants to beat me to making a package, go for it. :-)

Thanks,

Please use the Debian Science Git at alioth (not only for this but for
all your packages that might concern Debian Science and are not in the
NeuroDebian Git at alioth).

I request an adopter for the stgit package.

I don't use it any more myself (I'm more of a "git rebase" user now),
but popcon seems to show many users left, despite a recent stagnation.
Possibly a snapshot could be packaged to compensate fo the very long
release cycle, but someone closely following the stgit development
would be much better suited to that job :)

The package description is:
stgit provides similar functionality to quilt
(i.e. pushing/popping patches to/from a stack) on top of git.
 .
These operations are performed using git commands and the patches
are stored as git commit objects, allowing easy merging of the stgit
patches into other repositories using standard git functionality.

No. This means that we need not to worry about the gitlab lexer.

Thanks for the heads up.

* Package name: belle-sip

  Programming Lang: C and ANTLR
Description : SIP stack from the Linphone team

Belle-Sip is a new SIP stack (RFC3261) developed by the Linphone team.

Belle-Sip supports multiple transports at the same time, has a dual IPv6 and
IPv4 stack, is fully asynchronous and implements the +sip.instance and alias
parameters. It also handles network disconnections better, offers a privacy API
and supports rich presence.

SIP/TLS is handled by the lightweight polarssl library (as opposed to openssl).

Relevance:

This library is required to build the latest Linphone beta version 3.6.99. It
will probably replace libosip and libeXosip, a more mature SIP stack, in future
Linphone releases.

Maintenance:

I plan to submit the package to the Debian VOIP Team and hope to contribute to
maintenance going forward.

Description : A tool to copy messages from one IMAP server to another

Larch is a tool to copy messages from one IMAP server to another quickly and
safely. It’s smart enough not to copy messages that already exist on the
destination and robust enough to deal with interruptions caused by flaky
connections or misbehaving servers.

Larch is particularly well-suited for copying email to, from, or between Gmail
accounts.

lazy me didn't think about placing it under Debian Science but I guess
it shouldn't hurt ;-) would need to recall (GIT) layout/procedures.

if you have a look

(was aiming to place it on github.com/neurodebian as canonical VCS but
could be changed) if you spot more things TODO...
I have decided to use pybuild more, but apparently would need still to
take care about oddities while backporting to wheezy (may be just
backporting nose there):

Otherwise, for sid, packaging is complete I believe -- just waiting for
scipy to get finally rebuilt for python3.4 so we could build this beast.

Bug#742721: ITP: mathopd -- Very small, yet very fast HTTP server

2014-03-26 Thread Gregor Pintar
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

   Package name: mathopd
Version: 1.5p8
Upstream Author: Michiel Boland
URL: http://www.mathopd.org/
License: BSD
Description: Very small, yet very fast HTTP server

Mathopd is a very small, yet very fast HTTP server for UN*X systems.

Mathopd supports useful features of HTTP/1.1, such as persistent connections,
partial responses and pipelining. It does not support things like content
negotation. The latest version of the software (1.5) also supports CGI/1.1.

Mathopd was designed specifically to run as a single process, and to never grow
in size. When this software was first written (early 1996) this is something
that other HTTP servers were not very good at.

Mathopd was removed from debian, because it wasn't maintained
and I would really like it back in debian.

I'm prepared to maintain it.
Package is on https://mentors.debian.net/package/mathopd.

Bug#742639: ITP: python-expyriment -- Python library for cognitive and neuroscientific experiments

2014-03-26 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
Hi Oliver,

Andreas, of the Debian Science team (I am part of too), suggested to
invite you to join. Given that as the upstream developer of expyriment
you are primarily interested to have only that piece
packaged/distributed through Debian, not sure if it would be of direct
interest to you. But here you come: next step could be to bring
expyriment under Debian science umbrella/maintenance -- that might
provide numerous benefits in the long run (more help with
updating/fixing the package etc). Even though we are finalizing
packaging to satisfy Debian policy standards, it might need tiny bit of
work to homogenize it with the rest of Debian Science packages...
So I will leave it for you to decide, and Andreas I bet could guide you
if you decide to follow this direction

P.S. we would always be able to provide backports through NeuroDebian as
well, as long as packaging keeps backporting in mind -- so there should
be no problem.

Cheers!

Bug#742709: ITP: octomap -- An Efficient Probabilistic 3D Mapping Framework Based on Octrees

2014-03-26 Thread Leopold Palomo-Avellaneda
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Leopold Palomo-Avellaneda"

* Package name: octomap
  Version : 1.6.5
Upstream Author : Armin Hornung, Kai M. Wurm, Maren Bennewitz, Cyrill
Stachniss and Wolfram Burgard
* URL : http://octomap.github.io/
* License : GPL-2 and BSD-3-Clause
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : An Efficient Probabilistic 3D Mapping Framework Based on
Octrees

The OctoMap library implements a 3D occupancy grid mapping approach,
providing data structures and mapping algorithms in C++ particularly suited
for robotics. The map implementation is based on an octree and is designed
to meet the following requirements:

 * Full 3D model. The map is able to model arbitrary environments without
prior assumptions about it. The representation models occupied areas as well
as free space. Unknown areas of the environment are implicitly encoded in
the map. While the distinction between free and occupied space is essential
for safe robot navigation, information about unknown areas is important,
e.g., for autonomous exploration of an environment.
 * Updatable. It is possible to add new information or sensor readings at
any time. Modeling and updating is done in a probabilistic fashion. This
accounts for sensor noise or measurements which result from dynamic changes
in the environment, e.g., because of dynamic objects. Furthermore, multiple
robots are able to contribute to the same map and a previously recorded map
is extendable when new areas are explored.
 * Flexible. The extent of the map does not have to be known in advance.
Instead, the map is dynamically expanded as needed. The map is
multi-resolution so that, for instance, a high-level planner is able to use
a coarse map, while a local planner may operate using a fine resolution.
This also allows for efficient visualizations which scale from coarse
overviews to detailed close-up views.
 * Compact. The map is stored efficiently, both in memory and on disk. It
is possible to generate compressed files for later usage or convenient
exchange between robots even under bandwidth constraints.

Bug#742704: RFP: implicitcad -- Powerful, Open-Source, Programmatic CAD

2014-03-26 Thread Carlo Stemberger
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: implicitcad
  Version : 0.0.3
  Upstream Author : Christopher Olah
* URL : http://www.implicitcad.org/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Haskell
Description : Powerful, Open-Source, Programmatic CAD

ImplicitCAD is a programmatic CAD program, implemented in haskell. Unlike
traditional CAD programs, programmatic CAD programs use text descriptions of
objects, as in programming. Concepts like variables, control structures and
abstraction are used, just as in programming. This provides a number of
advantages:

* Objects can abstracted and reused
* Repetitive tasks can be automated
* Objects can be designed parametrically
* The usual tools for software development (like version control) can be used

The traditional example of programmatic CAD is OpenSCAD.

Generally, objects in programmatic CAD are built with Constructive Solid
Geometry or CSG. Unions, intersections and differences of simpler shapes
slowly build the object. ImplicitCAD supports all this and much more! For
example, it provides rounded unions so that one can have smooth interfaces
between objects.

It also directly provides GCode generation, and has a parser for OpenSCAD to
make it easier for people to transition.

Bug#742573: ITP: seaborn -- Python statistical visualization library

2014-03-26 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Yaroslav,

since I assume you will maintain this package in Debian Science team I'm
forwarding this to its list. It would be great if ITPs concerning
Debian Science would be add the science list right in reportbug since
this would save my time in browsing the ITP list from time to time which
I'm doing for the sake of trying to hunt down candidates for the Debian
Science tasks since usually maintainers forget to add their packages to
the tasks. :-(

Kind regards

Andreas.

Breathe provides a bridge between the Sphinx and doxygen documentation
systems. It enables Sphinx to generate autodoc for languages other than
Python with the help of doxygen. It also allows to embed
 reStructuredText in doxygen markup.

Bug#742597: ITP: casperjs

2014-03-26 Thread Xavier Claude
I've got a problem with the packaging. Casperjs 1.0.4 (the current
stable release) is not compatible with phantomjs 1.9 which is the only
version in Debian sid. Should I package the beta version ?
