Bug#742864: ITP: openjdk-8 -- OpenJDK 8 - Open source implementation of the Java Platform Standard Edition 8

2014-03-29 Thread Florian Weimer
* Emmanuel Bourg:

OpenJDK 8 is the open source implementation of the Java Platform
Standard Edition 8. It contains the Java runtime and the developer tools
necessary to create and execute Java 8 applications.

Do you intend to package OpenJDK 8 or IcedTea 8? The OpenJDK Debian
packages are actually IcedTea-based.

I plan to use the upstream build directly, but I keep the IcedTea patches:

http://icedtea.classpath.org/wiki/IcedTea_Patches_for_OpenJDK_8

I cloned the openjdk-7 repository and pushed it on alioth:

Bug#742948: O: iceowl -- Standalone Calendar Application

2014-03-29 Thread Guido Günther
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the iceowl package.

So far we've been keeping up with iceowl (i.e. sunbird) builds by
patching the fallouts of upstream not caring much about the stand alone
calendar but sunbird code is being actively removed now, e.g.:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866903
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=984917

So let's bite the bullet and let it go. We'll add a iceowl package that
depends on iceowl-extension + icedove since this might be the most
expected upgrade path. Other findings about usable (GSSAPI capable)
calendars will be added on the groupware page:

https://wiki.debian.org/Groupware

I've already filed a request for removal (#742924) but in case anybody
wants to pick this up, here's the bug for it. This would likely involve
picking up upstream as well.
Cheers,
 -- Guido

fedmsg (Fedora Messaging) is a Python package and API used within the Fedora

 to allow for asynchronous processes.
 .
datanommer is a fedmsg consumer that stores all the messages received
on a fedmsg bus inside a database. It also contains some crude tools to
 query that database.

Upstream has split the package in four independently released
components: datanommer (namespace package), datanommer.commands (command
line utilities), datanommer.consumer (the fedmsg consumer) and
datanommer.models (SQLAlchemy models). They will be packaged separately.

These are cosmetic things, but nevertheless it would nice to fix them:

* no need to state Socket.io depends on it, it will be obvious when
socket.io is uploaded.

thanks for the pointer.

How mature and commonly used is this project? The version number seems
to indicate a rather early state of development. What is your personal
motivation: Do you use this tool productively, or is it just something
you’d like to see in Debian?

The Debian Haskell Group will be happy to help someone to maintain
implicitcad, but there are plenty of non-Haskell-specific maintenance
tasks, so someone else would have to step up as a maintainer.

Bug#742996: RFP: xtuple-web - web and mobile access to PostBooks

2014-03-29 Thread Daniel Pocock
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Daniel Pocock dan...@pocock.pro

Upstream: http://www.xtuple.org

License: mixed: Apache, BSD, MIT, CPAL

Source:

Upstream has several source repositories under
  https://github.com/xtuple

The web client is in this repository:
  https://github.com/xtuple/xtuple

and some of the other repositories contain supporting content.

Comments:

- I currently co-maintain the main xTuple / PostBooks desktop (Qt-based)
client package, it is co-ordinated through the pkg-xtuple group:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-xtuple-maintainers

- the web client provides an alternative user interface to the same
PostgreSQL backend

- I am initially opening this bug as an RFP as there is work to be done
on dependencies (including build dependencies/tools) before this package
can be created

- some of the core dependencies (nodejs, postgresql-9.3-plv8) appear for
the first time in the next major Debian release (Jessie), making it
feasible to package this software

- information on dependencies can be discovered in these files:

https://github.com/xtuple/xtuple/blob/master/.gitmodules
https://github.com/xtuple/xtuple/blob/master/package.json
https://github.com/xtuple/xtuple/blob/master/npm-shrinkwrap.json
https://github.com/xtuple/xtuple/blob/master/scripts/install_xtuple.sh

- the next step is to build a wiki page with a table listing all the
dependencies, their licenses and their packaging status

- upstream appears to be targeting Ubuntu LTS so it should be possible
to find common ground on a lot of things

Description : Test suite for testing caldav/carddav servers

CalDAVTester is a test and performance application designed to work
with CalDAV and / or CardDAV servers and tests various aspects of their
protocol handling as well as performance.

CalDAVTester basically executes HTTP requests against a server and
verifies the responses returned by the server. Suites of tests are
defined in xml configuration files, and an additional xml configuration
file is used to define variables used whilst running (e.g., server
address, user accounts to use etc).

The package would be useful to test the various caldav/carddav

Simple Tree Menu creates a visually-simple menu inspired by the Mac OS X

There's no complex options to pass in and your preferred style can be created

that Apple Finder look, or you can nest other HTML content to create something
 like Google's calendar navigation.

.
Colossal Cave Adventure is the seminal text adventure game from the
1970s by Will Crowther and Don Woods.
.
This is a re-implementation of the program, using the original data
file. It uses the original text exactly, and emits responses slow
enough to read as the original terminals did.

The code will produce the following packages:

* colossal-cave-adventure: Colossal Cave Adventure game
* adventure: (alias for ‘colossal-cave-adventure’, via “Provides”)
* python-adventure: Colossal Cave Adventure at the Python prompt

The code presents a stand-alone program which behaves as above. The Python
module also allows the user to play the game at the interactive Python
prompt.

I will maintain the Debian packaging in Bazaar at Alioth in
‘collab-maint/pkg-adventure’, and seek a package sponsor via the Debian
Games team.
