Bug#741258: libre2 - next steps

2014-06-13 Thread Daniel Pocock

Hi Stefano,

Thanks for uploading libre2 - I notice it has now propagated to testing:

   http://packages.qa.debian.org/r/re2.html

Would you consider releasing it to wheezy-backports?

Is this the same package in Fedora/EPEL and is it up to date for
libphonenumber to use?

   https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=868578

I notice GNOME's Evolution is supporting libphonenumber in some form
now, hopefully the GNOME team will be able to enable this eventually in
their packages for jessie:

https://github.com/GNOME/evolution-data-server/blob/master/m4/evo_phonenumber.m4

Regards,

Daniel

It seems dogpile is not available for python3.

Also, I would argue that the command line binary should go in a
package not named python-*.

I have also fixed the autotools issues, but waiting to push until I have tested
my changes on several machines. Have you looked at the bugs[0] and seen if they
are
resolved in the current version? Please keep in mind that some bugs are meant
for upstream and it might be hard to distinguish feature request and bug report.

PS: #637605 is probably already fixed.

Bug#751519: ITP: openjdk-9 -- OpenJDK 9 - Open source implementation of the Java Platform Standard Edition 9

2014-06-13 Thread Emmanuel Bourg
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Emmanuel Bourg

* Package name: openjdk-9
  Version : 9~b17
  Upstream Author : Oracle Corporation
* URL : http://openjdk.java.net
* License : GPL-2 with Classpath Exception
  Programming Lang: Java, C++
  Description : OpenJDK 9 - Open source implementation of the Java
Platform Standard Edition 9

OpenJDK 9 is the open source implementation of the Java Platform
Standard Edition 9. It contains the Java runtime and the developer tools
necessary to create and execute Java 9 applications.

The openjdk-9 package will remain in the experimental repository until
Java 9 is officially released (expected in 2016). This will allow us to
test the packages compatibility and prepare for the transition in Jessie+1.

Bug#751509: ITP: icinga2 -- host and network monitoring system

2014-06-13 Thread Markus Frosch
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Markus Frosch

* Package name: icinga2
  Version : 2.0.0~beta2
  Upstream Author : Icinga Development Team
* URL : http://www.icinga.org/
* License : GPL-2+ with OpenSSL exceptions
  Programming Lang: C++ with Boost
  Description : host and network monitoring system

Icinga 2 is a general-purpose monitoring application and the next generation
after Icinga 1.x - which was a Nagios fork. It should fit the needs of a small
environment as well as big installations.

Rewritten from scratch in C++, with multi-threading and cluster support.

Features:
 * All common features of Icinga and Nagios
 * Much faster and more scalable than Icinga 1 and Nagios
 * New configuration format, more intuitive and template based
 * Monitoring several services by executing checks (see nagios-plugins*)
   for example ICMP/ping, SMTP, POP3, HTTP, NNTP, or other TCP port
 * Any small script can be used as a check plugin, when following the Nagios
   plugin API
 * Notifications about alerts with any custom script, or shipped examples
 * Native support for Livestatus and Graphite

Bug#751397: ITP: drmips -- Educational MIPS simulator - DrMIPS

2014-06-13 Thread Bruno Nova
I have uploaded a new package, version 1.2.2-1 (I also updated the upstream
code).

I had found that, when the package was compiled with JDK 7, it would not
run in Java 6 (which seems to be the default in Debian stable). I have now
added compile flags that fix this.
Sorry, I uploaded the package in a hurry and didn't have time to test it in
Debian (I use Ubuntu). I have tested it now using Debian stable.

Bug#750817: ITP: x265 -- x265 HEVC Encoder

2014-06-13 Thread djcj
I made some scripts and stuff a while ago to build proper (I guess, but
I could be wrong) Debian packages.
If you want to create a package from a current hg snapshot, it
automatically patches the cmake file and adds all the version information.

https://github.com/darealshinji/Debian/tree/master/x265

The source package builds an additional 10bit version under a different
name (libx265-10b) too.
It works fine on Ubuntu:
https://launchpad.net/~djcj/+archive/x265/+packages

Maybe you can use some of the stuff.

Impinging on the bash namespace is something I'll almost buy, except
that bash never ships with a version number.

I'd be vaguely ameniable to renaming the package/binary to bashate,
which is pronounced the same, but doesn't have the same namespacing
problem. Will talk with Matt Odden about it today.

Yes, this is what will happen.

If upstream chooses /usr/bin/bash8, I'll have to follow. I don't want to
carry patches which I'd have to maintain.

Renaming python-bash8 into something else is not possible, because the
Debian standard is to use, as Debian name, what is used for the import.
So if we have "import xyz", then the package will be python-xyz.

The problem is that bash8 doesn't express anything but "bash version 8",
unless you know pep8.

I agree. Names are important.
