Bug#763951: O: dcfldd -- enhanced version of dd for forensics and security

2014-10-04 Thread Kenny Duffus

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the dcfldd package because I no longer have time to
take care of it and Eriberto Mota said he was interested in taking it on

Bug#763557: sisu-* namespace Re: ITP: Bug#763752, Bug#763557, Bug#763704

2014-10-04 Thread Emmanuel Bourg
Hi Ralph,

Thank you for the notice. I wasn't aware of the existing sisu packages,
here is some information to help evaluation the situation:

- there are five sisu-* Java packages: sisu-inject and sisu-plexus
currently in the NEW queue, and sisu-maven-plugin, sisu-ioc and
sisu-guice already in the archive. sisu-ioc will eventually be removed
as it is superseded by sisu-inject and sisu-plexus. No other sisu Java
package is expected as far as I know.

- the binary packages are all named lib*-java

- they do not install any command line tools

As you can see the invasion is fairly limited, and there is no risk of
technical conflict, so they can safely coexist.

Bug#724529: two ITPs for psocksxx

2014-10-04 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
forcemerge 724529 763432
thanks

Hi,

There are two ITPs for psocksxx. I am merging them.

Jörg, could you try to get in touch with Uditha? His ITP was filed more
than a year ago, so it's possible that he gave up on the idea of
packaging psocksxx. But if he is still working on that, it would make
sense to merge efforts and co-maintain this package.

Please let me know if the situation gets deadlocked for some reason.

Lucas

  Programming Lang: Python
Description : D3 JS XStatic support

XStatic is a packaging standard to package external (often 3rd party) static
files as a Python package, so they are easily usable on all operating systems,
with any package management system or even without one.
 .
Many Python projects need to use some specific data files, like javascript,
css, java applets, images, etc. Sometimes these files belong to YOUR project
(then you may want to package them separately, but you could also just put
them into your main package). But in many other cases, those files are
maintained by someone else (like jQuery javascript library or even much bigger
js libraries or applications) and you definitely do not really want to merge
them into your project. So, you want to have static file packages, but you
don’t want to get lots of stuff you do not want. Thus, stuff required by
XStatic file packages (especially the main, toplevel XStatic package) tries to
obey to be a MINIMAL, no-fat thing. XStatic doesn't sell any web framework
or other stuff you don't want. Maybe there will be optional XStatic extensions
for all sorts of stuff, but they won't be required if you just want the files.
 .
By having static files in packages, it is also easier to build virtual envs,
support linux/bsd/... distribution package maintainers and even windows
 installs using the same mechanism.
 .
This package provides D3 JS support as a Python module.

Bug#763962: ITP: python3-flask-restful -- REST API framework for Flask applications

2014-10-04 Thread Jonathan Carter
Package: wnpp
Owner: Jonathan Carter jonat...@ubuntu.com
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: python3-flask-restful
  Version : 0.2.12
  Upstream Author : Twilio, Inc
* URL : https://github.com/twilio/flask-restful
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : REST API framework for Flask applications

Flask-RESTful is an extension for Flask that adds support for quickly
building
REST APIs. It is a lightweight abstraction that works with your existing
ORM/libraries. Flask-RESTful encourages best practices with minimal setup.
If you are familiar with Flask, Flask-RESTful should be easy to pick up.

I'm planning to join the debian-python team, and will maintain this package
in the team VCS once part of the team.

Bug#740087: python-efl on mentors

2014-10-04 Thread Johannes Schauer
Hi,

Quoting Yann Dirson (2014-10-03 22:14:18)
We could do that - I'm puzzled however that no member of the list
reacted publicly. It would surely be good to get some feedback from E
maintainers (I'm not part of the team myself).

I uploaded a new version of python-efl:

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/python-efl/python-efl_1.8.1-1.dsc

Instead of using the upstream tarball, I built a new tarball from git because
the ustream tarball only contains the generated C code and not the original
Cython code. Please refer to README.Source.

I also added Python 3 support.

Upstream already has a newer version of Python EFL but that cannot be packaged
until more recent versions of EFL itself are packaged.

cheers, josch

currently in the NEW queue, and sisu-maven-plugin, sisu-ioc and

Thanks for the feedback.

 - the binary packages are all named lib*-java

* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : Emerald is a window decorator that allows for a wide variety
of new looks to be added to application windows. Emerald project is a window
decorator that provides the borders to your windows normally provided by Marco
(MATE). It is not required for Compiz to operate, however it allows for
decorations to be edited or even created from scratch. For now, there are plenty
of existing Emerald themes that can be downloaded and used first. Using Compiz
and Emerald together can produce some genuinely stunning-looking desktop
environments, although it is still possible to install and use them separately.
Emerald manager allows you to add themes easily by import option, first you
need
to download themes then import via Emerald Manager. I added theme pack to PPA
which contains approx 35 themes and two other theme sets Avalon-Dark-Light,
Hoverglass that looks really great if used with matching Gtk themes. The themes
are very useful for accessibility for low-visual impaired people, so that they
can use Compiz and MATE with Orca and a typical layout.
Given the purpose of the package, pkg-a11y could handle it. Any co-maintainer
and sponsor is 9elcome.

  Programming Lang: Go
Description : Pluggable transport to circumvent IP address blocking via
public services

Meek is a tool to circumvent censorship by relaying traffic through a
third-party server that is hard to block, for example a CDN. It uses a trick
called domain fronting to talk to a Tor relay-like service while appearing
to talk to another domain. The traffic itself is HTTPS, aiming to look like a
typical encrypted web session.

This is similar in many respects to flashproxy-client/pt-websocket.
I will be maintaining this as part of the Debian Go Packaging Team.

Description : Yet Another Query Language

At the beginning of millennium the growing trend towards data formats
standardization and application integrability made XML extremely popular. XML
became lingua franca of the data. Applications tended to process lots of XML
files ranging from small config files to very large datasets. As these data
often had a complex structure with many levels of nestedness it is quickly
became obvious that there is a need for specially crafted domain specific
languages to query these data sets. This is how XPath and later XQL were born.
 .
With later popularization of REST services and Web 2.0 JSON started to take
XML’s place. JSON’s main advantage (besides being simpler than XML) is that is
closely reassembles data structures found in most programming languages
(arrays, dictionaries, scalars) making it very convenient for data
serialization. As JSON lacked all the brilliant XML-related technologies like
XSLT, XML Schema, XPath etc. various attempts to develop similar languages for
JSON were made. One of those efforts was JSONPath library developed in 2007 by
Stefan Gössner. Initial implementation was for PHP and JavaScript languages,
but later on ports to other languages including Python were written. YAQL is
one of the implementations in Python.

I have been maintaining MathJax for more than two years, but now I’m becoming
less interested in it and having less time for it.

I would like the new maintainer to make sure the fonts are properly rebuilt
from sources (using MathJax-dev scripts), a task that I started but never
finished (because things became much complicated on upstream side).

Binary packages built from mathjax source are:
 libjs-mathjax
 fonts-mathjax
 fonts-mathjax-extras

The package description is:
MathJax was designed with the goal of consolidating the recent advances in web
technologies into a single, definitive, math-on-the-web platform supporting
the major browsers and operating systems.
 .
It requires no setup on the part of the user (no plugins to download or
software to install), so the page author can write web documents that include
mathematics and be confident that users will be able to view it naturally and
easily. Simply include MathJax and some mathematics in a web page, and MathJax
 will do the rest.
