Bug#731447: zathura-mupdf using libmupdf.a?

2014-10-20 Thread Lingzhu Xiang
Hi,

So mupdf upstreams says "fitz is still immature and should not be
exposed nor dynamically linked" (#719351). But isn't the point of
zathura-mupdf to encapsulate mupdf within a .so plugin and maintain a
stable interface between this plugin and zathura? That should not be a
blocker.

Zathura upstream seems very actively maintaining the plugin (last
release a week ago) and surely they will be friendly to work with over
this issue. And because actually Zathura proper and the zathura-mupdf
plugin are by the same author, it would be ridiculous if the two don't
work together.

Therefore I propose to pull in libmupdf.a to build the zathura-mupdf
shared library.

Right now to build the pdf.so of zathura-mupdf, just

- apt-get source mupdf
- HAVE_MUJS := no in there
- rebuild libmupdf-dev with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=x-fpic
- dpkg -i libmupdf-dev...deb
- cd zathura-mupdf; remove "-lmujs" there
- make
- zathura --plugins-dir=zathura-mupdf test.pdf

And it renders lightning fast!!!

-Lingzhu

Bug#762402: Reg. packaging pam-kwallet for Debian

2014-10-20 Thread Rahul Amaram

On Thursday 16 October 2014 01:29 PM, Maximiliano Curia wrote:

But, if you prepare the package and intend to maintain it I won't mind
reviewing it. Happy hacking,

Apologies for the delay. Had been caught up with some work.

Kindly review and upload to Debian. I am not a DD, so cannot upload it
to Debian. Also, I've heard that new package takes about 10 days to get
into unstable. So, you might want to expedite this.

Thanks,
Rahul.

Bug#766132: RFP: python-versioneer -- version-string management for VCS-controlled trees

2014-10-20 Thread Antoine Beaupré
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: python-versioneer
  Version : 0.12
  Upstream Author : Brian Warner
* URL : https://github.com/warner/python-versioneer
* License : Public domain
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : version-string management for VCS-controlled trees

This is a tool for managing a recorded version number in
distutils-based python projects. The goal is to remove the tedious and
error-prone "update the embedded version string" step from your
release process. Making a new release should be as easy as recording a
new tag in your version-control system, and maybe making new tarballs.

Description : Educational MIPS simulator - DrMIPS

DrMIPS is a graphical simulator of the MIPS processor to support computer
architecture teaching and learning. It is intuitive, versatile and
configurable. The simulator is available not only for personal computers but
also for Android devices, especially tablets.
DrMIPS was created under the Master's dissertation entitled "Tool to Support
Computer Architecture Teaching and Learning" at FEUP.

I am the author of the program. Above was the "general" description of the
software.
This simulator is to be used mostly in Computer Architecture classes where the
MIPS architecture is studied.
It simulates some MIPS code and shows, step-by-step: the assembled code, the
registers, the data memory and a graphical representation of the datapath
(unicycle or pipeline).
I intend to package the PC version of the simulator (obviously).

Now, I know this is a very specific program, and useless to most people.
Also, besides the University where it was created, probably almost no one else
uses it (1 or 2 other universities, at maximum).
So, I'm perfectly fine if the package is not accepted. After all, no one
requested this package.
But this would also be the first package I would send to Debian, so it would be
useful for me to learn how to submit packages to Debian and Ubuntu
repositories.
I have a package for Ubuntu in a PPA, though (ppa:brunonova/ppa).

cppman is a tool to download C++ 98/11 manual from cplusplus.com. It
creates a similar interface to the man command, and provides syntax
 highlight, hyperlink features.

Hi,

I intend to create a package for cppman, which is a python based, C++
98/11 manual reader which downloads the content from cplusplus.com on
the fly.

Hi,

I request an adopter for the adns package.

The package description is:
adns is a resolver library for C (and C++) programs. In contrast with the
existing interfaces, gethostbyname et al and libresolv, it can be used in
an asynchronous, non-blocking manner. Many queries can be handled
 simultaneously.
 .
Includes useful test tools and utilities for IP address resolving in
 logfiles.

Description : walk a directory tree recursively with events - Node.js
module

findit is a Node.js module to recursively walk directory trees. It supports
optionally following symlinks and detects file system loops.
 .
 Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
 .
This module is a backwards-compatible fork of node-findit and this Debian
package is intended to replace node-findit. All upstream projects which are
packaged for Debian that depend on findit have switched to findit2.

Bug#722451: you need to upload compiz/emerald/emerald-themes NOW

2014-10-20 Thread MENGUAL Jean-Philippe

Le 20/10/2014 01:08, Adam Borowski a écrit :

Hi!

Hi,

I hope you're aware that, to be included in jessie, any new packages must
hit the archive by Oct 26. And -before- that, it must clear the massively
overloaded NEW queue (to which everyone puts last-moment uploads). So,
here's a reminder.
I'm aware and worry, given that my packaging skills are limited and it's
hard for me to package such complex things. But I hope, I hope, I hope!
I search help too!

Also, if you'd want some testing, are the packages you're preparing same as
those on http://debian-knoppix.alioth.debian.org/packages/compiz/ ? That
repository lacks emerald, though.

Yes, I plan to import in Debian Jessie the packaging from knoppix. But
the trial I did today resulted failures. So I try to get helped from the
Knoppix's packager. Dunno why pdebuild fails.

For Emerald, it's committed in git.debian.org/pkg-a11y/emerald.git. I'd
like to have success, but so far the build doesn't find some libs I
don't know myself, such as libdecoration. I'm not sure I'll be able to
package it before 26th.

Finally, libwnckmm, one dependency for Emerald, is waiting for
acceptation in master FTP. It's in the queue.

I'm using compiz (0.8.4-5.2) for years,
it wouldn't be nice if jessie lacked it or had it broken.
It's major for me to have it in Jessie. That's why I'll try to import
it, although I need discussions with release-manager team. I'll try to
respect delays, if I can't, I'll try to argue. Otherwise I'll do an
external repo.

Also, I wonder why you're building it against metacity (depreciated) rather
than marco (actively developed fork) -- compiz tends to be used with Mate
and XFCE rather than Gnome3.

I don't build against anything. :) And my purpose would be to build
against Emerald, Marco and MATE. That's to fix all that I need help and
support from the Knoppix's packager. One thing is sure, I don't want
Compiz in Jessie to be built against Metacity. It'll be against Marco or
Emerald.

Any help would be appreciated, but be sure I'll do all needed efforts to
get Compiz and Emerald in Jessie. I plan arguing after freeze, because
it's major!

Sincerely,

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm looking for a new maintainer of scanbuttond. I no longer have a
scanner on my desk so I can't test the package. I may continue to
maintain the package for a while but I'm going to orphan it sooner or
later.

Maintaining the package is not difficult. Just note that the upstream
package is orphaned, so be ready to take some upstream maintainer
duties, mostly to accept patches from users adding new devices from time
to time. You should have some basic knowledge of C language to review
the patches but nothing more is needed.

We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of
scanbd, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive.

A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is
attached.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 728...@bugs.debian.org,
and the maintainer will reopen the bug report if appropriate.

This is a newer version of spatial4j which is already in Debian as
libspatial4j-java. It's ABI-incompatible, so a new version is needed.
This is needed for newer versions of Lucene, which, in turn, is needed
for newer versions of Elasticsearch.

Bug#766090: ITP: runit-init -- a UNIX init scheme with service supervision

2014-10-20 Thread Gerrit Pape
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

This essentially is a reintroduction of the package "runit-run", which
was added to Debian end of 2002, and removed on request of the release
team end of 2010, with the package name changed. Since then, a backward
compatibility feature for running sysv rc scripts was added, ideally to
be replaced by runit service directories eventually.

Description: a UNIX init scheme with service supervision
runit is a replacement for SysV-init and other init schemes. It runs on
Debian GNU/Linux, *BSD, MacOSX, and Solaris, and may be easily adapted
to other Unix operating systems. runit implements a simple three-stage
concept. Stage 1 performs the system's one-time initialization tasks.
Stage 2 starts the system's uptime services (via the runsvdir program).
Stage 3 handles the tasks necessary to shutdown and halt or reboot.
 .
 See http://smarden.org/runit/ for more information.
 .
This package replaces the /sbin/init program and configures runit to run
as process no 1 after the next reboot.
License: 3-clause BSD

You can take a look at the current status through
 git clone http://smarden.org/git/runit-run.git/

Regards, Gerrit.

Bug#766082: ITP: libstruct-dumb-perl -- module to create simple lightweight record-like structures

2014-10-20 Thread gregor herrmann
Package: wnpp
Owner: gregor herrmann
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org,debian-p...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: libstruct-dumb-perl
  Version : 0.03
  Upstream Author : Paul Evans
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Struct-Dumb
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : module to create simple lightweight record-like structures

Struct::Dumb creates record-like structure types, similar to the struct
keyword in C, C++ or C#, or Record in Pascal. An invocation of this module
will create a construction function which returns new object references with
the given field values. These references all respond to lvalue methods that
access or modify the values stored.

It's specifically and intentionally not meant to be an object class. You
cannot subclass it. You cannot provide additional methods. You cannot apply
roles or mixins or metaclasses or traits or antlers or whatever else is in
fashion this week.

On the other hand, it is tiny, creates cheap lightweight array-backed
structures, uses nothing outside of core. It's intended simply to be a
slightly nicer way to store data structures, where otherwise you might be
tempted to abuse a hash, complete with the risk of typoing key names. The
constructor will croak if passed the wrong number of arguments, as will
attempts to refer to fields that don't exist.

Bug#722451: you need to upload compiz/emerald/emerald-themes NOW

2014-10-20 Thread Adam Borowski
Hi!
I hope you're aware that, to be included in jessie, any new packages must
hit the archive by Oct 26. And -before- that, it must clear the massively
overloaded NEW queue (to which everyone puts last-moment uploads). So,
here's a reminder.

Also, if you'd want some testing, are the packages you're preparing same as
those on http://debian-knoppix.alioth.debian.org/packages/compiz/ ? That
repository lacks emerald, though. I'm using compiz (0.8.4-5.2) for years,
it wouldn't be nice if jessie lacked it or had it broken.

Also, I wonder why you're building it against metacity (depreciated) rather
than marco (actively developed fork) -- compiz tends to be used with Mate
and XFCE rather than Gnome3.
