Bug#731447: zathura-mupdf using libmupdf.a?

2014-10-21 Thread Lingzhu Xiang
Hi,

So mupdf upstreams says fitz is still immature and should not be
exposed nor dynamically linked (#719351). But isn't the point of
zathura-mupdf to encapsulate mupdf within a .so plugin and maintain a
stable interface between this plugin and zathura? That should not be a
blocker.

Zathura upstream seems very actively maintaining the plugin (last
release a week ago) and surely they will be friendly to work with over
this issue. And because actually Zathura proper and the zathura-mupdf
plugin are by the same author, it would be ridiculous if the two don't
work together.

Therefore I propose to pull in libmupdf.a to build the zathura-mupdf
shared library.

Right now to build the pdf.so of zathura-mupdf, just

- apt-get source mupdf
- HAVE_MUJS := no in there
- rebuild libmupdf-dev with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=x-fpic
- dpkg -i libmupdf-dev...deb
- cd zathura-mupdf; remove -lmujs there
- make
- zathura --plugins-dir=zathura-mupdf test.pdf

And it renders lightning fast!!!

-Lingzhu

Bug#626243: jchart2d for Debian

2014-10-21 Thread Markus Koschany
The packaging for libjchart2d-java is available from here:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-java/libjchart2d-java.git

I have moved the package under the umbrella of the Debian Java team
because I think it fits best into this team. At the moment I am waiting
for someone who wants to review and sponsor jchart2d.

The package can also be downloaded from

Package: gazebo
Version: 1.6.1-1
Severity: wishlist

Gazebo is one of the most active and advanced robotics simulator.
It is widely adopted in the robotics community and is used in the context of
the DARPA robotics challenge (http://gazebosim.org/wiki/DRC).

As a part of the Open Source Robotics Foundation (OSRF), deb files are already
provided to install this software but no effort has been done yet toward an
official Debian package.

* Package name: gazebo
* Version: 1.6.2
* Upstream Authors:
 Open Source Robotics Foundation
 Willow Garage
* URL: http://gazebosim.org
* License: Apache
Description:
 Gazebo is a multi-robot simulator for outdoor environments. Like
 Stage (part of the Player project), it is capable of simulating a
 population of robots, sensors and objects, but does so in a
 three-dimensional world. It generates both realistic sensor feedback
 and physically plausible interactions between objects (it includes an
 accurate simulation of rigid-body physics).

I'm no longer developing code for touchscreens, I have
no remaining interest in maintaining tslib. I've checked
with Hector, he doesn't want to maintain tslib any longer
either. The GPE team itself is likely to disband and GPE
itself removed from Debian later as GPE consists of leaf
packages.

As tslib has reverse dependencies, I'm orphaning it in the
hope that it can find a new maintainer.

Hi!

It's been quite a while that I've last made use of this small but handy tool,
and would therefore like to hand it over to a new maintainer:

  ygraph -- plot and animate data sets

  The ygraph tool graphs one-dimensional data or displays a time-series of
  one-dimensional data sets. It is an enhanced alternative to the xgraph utility
  and supports the same input format as xgraph. Additionally, ygraph features:

   * animating multiple plots simultaneously and synchronously;
   * stepping back and forth through animations one frame at a time;
   * zooming, similar to xgraph but without opening a lot of new windows;
   * plotting derivatives;
   * subtracting plots;
   * convergence tests;
   * reading compressed files;
   * exporting images and animations.

Regards,

Daniel.

I request an adopter for the gtkaml package.

The package description is:
 gtkaml is a XML language that extends the Vala.Parser and aimed at creating
 valid GTK+ UI classes.
 It features a compact XML syntax for describing the way Gtk widgets are laid
 out in custom widgets.

  Description : AVM FRITZ!Box remote control and monitor

 Roger Router is the successor to the abandoned ffgtk project. It is
 developed by the same people who were in charge of ffgtk. I am the
 current maintainer for ffgtk in Debian and I would like to continue to
 make Roger Router available to the Debian community.

 Fritz Fun (ffgtk) is a remote control software for the popular AVM all-in-one
 hardware home router Fritz!Box. It allows fax and call handling, call
 monitoring as well as administration of the DSL connection. The program
 can trigger scripts for a number of events such as missed calls or to pause
 the music player on incoming calls.
 .
 You need an AVM FRITZ!Box or this software will be fairly useless to you.

  Description : Geographic add-ons for Django REST Framework

djangorestframework-gis extends the Django REST Framework to also handle
geographic data as used by GeoDjango during serialization and deserialization.
It provides the following features:
..
 * GeometryField: This field handles GeoDjango geometry fields, providing
 custom to_native and from_native methods for GeoJSON input/output.
 * GeoModelSerializer: This serializer updates the field_mapping dictionary to
 include field mapping of GeoDjango geometry fields to the above
 GeometryField.
 * GeoFeatureModelSerializer: GeoFeatureModelSerializer is a subclass of
 GeoModelSerializer which will output data in a format that is GeoJSON
 compatible.
 * InBBOXFilter: Filters a queryset to only those instances within a certain
 bounding box.

  Description : module to create simple lightweight record-like structures

Struct::Dumb creates record-like structure types, similar to the struct
keyword in C, C++ or C#, or Record in Pascal. An invocation of this module
will create a construction function which returns new object references with
the given field values. These references all respond to lvalue methods that
access or modify the values stored.

It's specifically and intentionally not meant to be an object class. You
cannot subclass it. You cannot provide additional methods. You cannot apply
roles or mixins or metaclasses or traits or antlers or whatever else is in
fashion this week.

On the other hand, it is tiny, creates cheap lightweight array-backed
structures, uses nothing outside of core. It's intended simply to be a
slightly nicer way to store data structures, where otherwise you might be
tempted to abuse a hash, complete with the risk of typoing key names. The
constructor will croak if passed the wrong number of arguments, as will
attempts to refer to fields that don't exist.

  Description : snippet solution for Vim

UltiSnips provides snippet management for the Vim editor. A snippet is a short
piece of text that is either re-used often or contains a lot of redundant
text. UltiSnips allows you to insert a snippet with only a few key strokes.
Snippets are common in structured text like source code but can also be used
for general editing like, for example, inserting a signature in an email or
inserting the current date in a text file.
..
This plugin can utilize the snippets provided by the vim-snippets package.

Bug#766229: ITP: libex-monkeypatched-perl -- experimental API for safe monkey-patching

  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : experimental API for safe monkey-patching

 The term monkey patching describes injecting additional methods into
 a class whose implementation you don't control. If done without care,
 this is dangerous; the problematic case arises when:
  * You add a method to a class;
  * A newer version of the monkey-patched class adds another method of
the same name
  * And uses that new method in some other part of its own
implementation.

 ex::monkeypatched lets you do this sort of monkey-patching safely:
 before it injects a method into the target class, it checks whether the
 class already has a method of the same name. If it finds such a
 method, it throws an exception (at compile-time with respect to the
 code that does the injection).
 .
 See http://aaroncrane.co.uk/talks/monkey_patching_subclassing/ for
 more details.

Bug#766238: ITP: libxml-struct-perl -- represent XML as data structure preserving element order

2014-10-21 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jonas Smedegaard d...@jones.dk

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

* Package name: libxml-struct-perl
  Version : 0.23
  Upstream Author : Jakob Voß
* URL : https://github.com/nichtich/XML-Struct
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : represent XML as data structure preserving element order

 XML::Struct implements a mapping between XML and Perl data structures.
 By default, the mapping preserves element order, so it also suits for
 document-oriented XML. In short, an XML element is represented as
 array reference with three parts:
 .
   [ $name = \%attributes, \@children ]
 .
 This data structure corresponds to the abstract data model of
 MicroXML http://www.w3.org/community/microxml/, a simplified subset
 of XML.
 .
 If your XML documents don't contain relevant attributes, you can also
 choose to map to this format:
 .
   [ $name = \@children ]
 .
 Both parsing (with XML::Struct::Reader or function readXML) and
 serializing (with XML::Struct::Writer or function writeXML) are fully
 based on XML::LibXML, so performance is better than XML::Simple and
 similar to XML::LibXML::Simple.

Needed by libcatmandu-sru-perl.

Will be maintained in the Perl team.

Bug#766253: ITP: libpicocontainer-java -- Java library implementing the Dependency Injection pattern

2014-10-21 Thread Markus Koschany
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Markus Koschany a...@gambaru.de

* Package name: libpicocontainer-java
  Version : 2.15
  Upstream Author : PicoContainer Committers
* URL : http://picocontainer.com
* License : BSD-3-clause
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : Java library implementing the Dependency Injection pattern

PicoContainer is a highly embeddable full service Inversion of
Control (IoC) container for components that honour the Dependency
Injection pattern. It can be used as a lightweight alternative to
Sun's J2EE patterns for web applications or general solutions.
Despite it being very compact in size, PicoContainer supports
different dependency injection types (Constructor, Setter, Annotated
Field and Method) and offers multiple lifecycle and monitoring
strategies.

This is the reintroduction of Picocontainer to Debian because it is now
needed as a dependency for the latest version of Robocode, an
educational Java programming game. I intend to maintain the package as
part of the Java team.

Bug#766255: ITP: libparanamer-java -- Java based library to access method parameter names at runtime

2014-10-21 Thread Markus Koschany
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Markus Koschany a...@gambaru.de

* Package name: libparanamer-java
  Version : 2.7
  Upstream Author : Paul Hammant
* URL : https://github.com/paul-hammant/paranamer
* License : BSD-3-clause
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : Java based library to access method parameter names at
runtime

Paranamer is a library that allows the parameter names of non-private
methods and constructors to be accessed at runtime. Normally this
information is dropped by the compiler. With the advent of advanced
scripting languages and web action frameworks for the Java Virtual
Machine it is of increasing importance to be able to leverage a
method's parameter names. Scripting languages like Groovy JRuby,
web action frameworks like Waffle and VRaptor and the compelling
Grails as well as SOAP and REST designs could also benefit.

This is the reintroduction of Paranamer to Debian because it is a
dependency of Picocontainer which in turn is needed for the latest
version of Robocode, an educational Java programming game. I intend to
maintain the package as part of the Java team.

Codesize is a tool for calculating the code size of a Java classfile

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I have less time for packaging work these days, especially for packages
I have no personal or work connection to. Therefore, I am orphaning
robocode.

Even though I have some time available at Debconf, I'm orphaning this
now so that the adopter can use the Debconf time instead going forward.

I tried packaging a newer version fairly recently but upstream moved
their build system to Maven which isn't very Debian-ish. See [0] for
more details.

Bug#740087: python-efl on mentors

 good point! I added that.

  Also, since this release does not come out of download.enlightenment.org,
  the
  Source: field is probably not adequate.

 I changed it to the git url and added a note.

  debian/patches/cython-version-comparison.patch would benefit from a short
  explanation about why this patch is needed (I assume it is because of the
  cython snapshot packaging).

 But I wrote the reason in the Description field: Otherwise versions like
 0.20.1post0 cannot be parsed.

OK, I had just missed it.

 I fixed the first two issues and re-uploaded the version to mentors. If you
 can
 tell me how the description of the patch is not clear, I'll add a
 clarification.

That's cool, launching the build, and uploading if all is well...

Best regards,
