 Hi Filippo,

I was just wondering what the status of this ITP is? Do you plan to
 upload a package soon-ish?

the package is at

has released 0.40 yesterday, I think an upload might happen in the next two
weeks! If you are interested though feel free to go ahead, I'll be fairly busy

Bug#768983: ITP: carbon-c-relay -- status?

2015-05-12 Thread Bernd Zeimetz

Hi Filippo,

the package is at
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/carbon-c-relay.git/ and upstream
has released 0.40 yesterday, I think an upload might happen in the next two
weeks! If you are interested though feel free to go ahead, I'll be fairly busy
at work at least until end of May

what I've done - and I hope you don't mind:

- moved the carbon-c-relay config to /etc/carbon. Thats where the config
lived from the inofficial packaging.
- added a defaults file for the init script and the systemd service so
you can easily pass options to the daemon

- upgraded to 0.40
- fixed GIT_VERSION in Makefile

I've added branches for wheezy and jessie backports.

If thats all fine for you please let me know and I'll upload it to unstable.

cheers,

bernd

Power Assert shows each value of variables and method calls in the
expression. It is useful for testing, providing which value wasn't
correct when the condition is not satisfied.

This package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Ruby team.
It is a (soft) dependency for new version of ruby-test-unit (see

Bug#785146: ITP: libuecc -- small general-purpose ECC library

2015-05-12 Thread Jan Niehusmann
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

libuecc is a general-purpose ECC library which uses a curve similar to
djb's Curve25519 which is part of the NaCl library.

Because of it's small footprint, this library is used in the wireless
router software used by several free radio networks (Freifunk).

For interoperability reasons, it would be desirable to have it available
in debian, as well.

Bug#593261: Status of this?

2015-05-12 Thread Santiago Garcia Mantinan
Hi!

I've seen this:

https://launchpad.net/~grnet/+archive/ubuntu/synnefo/+sourcepub/4799784/+listing-archive-extra

Which seems to be based on a git version of this last year, the code doesn't
include all samba code like it used, but I haven't looked at it yet.

Anybody knows what the status of this is and if we can package it?

Regards.

Bug#768983: ITP: carbon-c-relay -- status?

 Hi Filippo,

 the package is at
 https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/carbon-c-relay.git/ and upstream
has released 0.40 yesterday, I think an upload might happen in the next two
weeks! If you are interested though feel free to go ahead, I'll be fairly
 busy
at work at least until end of May

what I've done - and I hope you don't mind:

 - moved the carbon-c-relay config to /etc/carbon. Thats where the
config lived from the inofficial packaging.

That's owned by graphite-carbon in debian isn't it? I don't think we should
mix paths

 - added a defaults file for the init script and the systemd service
so you can easily pass options to the daemon
 - upgraded to 0.40
 - fixed GIT_VERSION in Makefile

I've added branches for wheezy and jessie backports.

sounds good, thanks!

Bug#785137: ITP: fwupdate -- Tools to manage UEFI firmware updates

2015-05-12 Thread D. Jared Dominguez

Okay, well, I talked to Peter on IRC. He pointed out that:
- While there may be other platforms with firmware update mechanisms
that work in Linux, they're fringe.
- It's in Fedora as fwupdate already, so having a different name is
  confusing.

- Its name doesn't currently collide with other software.
- If there are other open standards for updating firmware, he'll happily
  add support for those.

So, unless there's a compelling reason (actually several given the
above), I'm going to stick with fwupdate.

Shouldn't this have a more specific name, like uefi-fwupdate?

There's already flashrom, which is also generically named but does
support a wider variety of older flash firmware.

ethtool can update firmware for some network cards.

Many vendors provide specific tools to update firmware on Linux.

 - It's in Fedora as fwupdate already, so having a different name is
confusing.

Having a generic name which has already been used many times over is
also confusing.

Having no documentation is *really* confusing.

 - Its name doesn't currently collide with other software.

Oracle has a program of this name for several operating systems
including Linux:

yes, but I can't see why folders should be owned by something.
carbon-c-relay is pretty much related to the other carbon stuff, so imho
its fine to have it in the same folder. for me both ways are fine.

Please consider using a more usual naming scheme, and please consider
maintaining it within the Debian PHP PEAR (and Composer) Maintainers
team.

The upcoming php-apigen (version 4) will need at least the version 1.4
of this package as a dependency, I’d be happy to prepare a team upload
here (if you maintain a VCS for the packaging, a pointer would be
appreciated).

Baudline is a time-frequency browser designed for scientific
visualization of the spectral domain. Signal analysis is performed by
Fourier, correlation, and raster transforms that create colorful
spectrograms with vibrant detail. Conduct test and measurement
experiments with the built in function generator, or play back audio
files with a multitude of effects and filters. The baudline signal
analyzer combines fast digital signal processing, versatile high speed
displays, and continuous capture tools for hunting down and studying

Hi,

Following investigation and failed attempts to contact the Baduline
developers, I am concluding that Baudline is not available as free software
despite claims that it is available as GNU GPL on their website.

It appears that the source code has never been released as GNU GPL, and it
is my belief that when they approached Red Hat and Sourceforge as mentioned
in their source code trivia blog post [1] they may have tried to sell the
source code with a GNU GPL license to these companies.

Baudline is available in FreeBSD's ports [2] and in OpenSUSE [3] although these
packages both use the binary distributions provided on the Baudline website.

This is a shame as they've even indicated on their blog [4] that they would
have liked to have had a Linux Live CD including Baudline's helper apps.
They've complained about Linux distributions not properly supporting
Baudline, but haven't made any attempt to make it easy for Linux
distributions to do so.

Pentoo did attempt to contact Baudline previously to ask about getting a
copy of the alleged GNU GPL source code, but the Baudline developers did not
provide it in this case [5] (I have also spoken with the Pentoo developer
privately and he has confirmed it is unlikely we will ever see it).

For these reasons, I am tagging this bug as wontfix and closing. If you do
have a copy of the source code, please feel free to reopen the bug and
retitle as an RFP. If you contact me I will consider doing the packaging
work again should the source become available.

Thanks,
Iain.

project released a 1.1.0 this week.

I work on upstream, btw.
