ok I've switched back to /etc/carbon-c-relay.conf in 7f6bed754f
Bernd if that looks good I think we're fine to upload

I'll add some dpkg-maint-helper stuff for a smooth migration from

 need it anyway.

Should I upload it when I'm done?

I don't mind you joining in. I'm doing the work on Github, as I'm trying to
help the gRPC guys maintain it themselves to some degree (I work for
Google).

https://github.com/grpc/grpc/pull/1696 is what I've done so far. If you can
help get protobuf3 into experimental, I can flesh the package out more
there.

In my next pull request, I can add you as an Uploader.

Bug#786460: ITP: kafka -- Distributed, partitioned, replicated commit log service

Description : Distributed, partitioned, replicated commit log service

Apache Kafka is publish-subscribe messaging rethought as a distributed
commit
log. A single Kafka broker can handle hundreds of megabytes of reads and
writes
per second from thousands of clients.

 - why is this package useful/relevant?

Many companies are using Apache Kafka for a number of different problems.
See
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/Powered+By

 - how do you plan to maintain it? inside a packaging team

This will be my first package submission. Honestly, I'm hoping some
companies
will come out and contribute considering how many big players use it. I
only plan
to maintain this package for Debian Jessie and beyond (systemd) but willing
to
accept contribtuions that support SysV init. Wikimedia Foundation has a
fairly
through debian package with SysV init support.

Yes, it would be nice if the GNOME team added this feature to Nautilus

Bug#786398: O: guessnet -- Guess which LAN a network device is connected to

2015-05-21 Thread Andrew Shadura
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the guessnet package. I have no time to work on it,
and I stopped using it for most of the things a month ago.

The package description is:
Guessnet is a non-aggressive network detection tool to use when moving
a machine among networks which don't necessarily provide DHCP.
 .
Guessnet takes in input a list of candidate network profiles,
each of which includes a test description; then it runs all
the tests in parallel and prints the name of the profile whose
test was the first one to succeed.
 .
 Available tests are:
  * ARP probes to check for known hosts in the network
  * link beat check, to check if the interface is connected to anything
  * PPPOE check to see if there is a concentrator accessible via PPPOE
  * Checks provided by custom arbitrary scripts.
 .
Guessnet can be used in either native mode or ifupdown mode.
In the latter case guessnet integrates nicely with ifupdown
 as a mapping script.

Description : Sewing pattern drafting software

Valentina is suited to any formula-based pattern drafting method
and has the aim to support small-batch and custom sized clothing
manufactoring.

This is one of the main/most active Free Software projects to support
garment design and manufacturing, as described e.g. in
https://lwn.net/Articles/643941/

A quick check with licensecheck shows that most files are properly
marked as GPLv3, with two components under a sane-looking BSD-like
license and LGPLv3 respectively (which may require unbundling).

Description: CAcert.org root certificates
This package provides CAcert.org (sub-)root certificates in PEM format.
Root certificate allows SSL-based applications to check for the
authenticity of certificates issued by the CAcert authority.
 .
CAcert.org is a community-driven Certificate Authority that issues
certificates to the public for free.
 .
CAcert's goal is to promote awareness and education on computer security
through the use of encryption, specifically by providing cryptographic
certificates. These certificates can be used to digitally sign and encrypt
email, authenticate and authorize users connecting to websites and secure
data transmission over the internet. Any application that supports the
Secure Socket Layer Protocol (SSL or TLS) can make use of certificates
signed by CAcert, as can any application that uses X.509 certificates,
e.g. for encryption or code signing and document signatures.
 .
Please note that Debian can neither confirm nor deny whether CAcert
have in any way been audited for trustworthiness or RFC 3647 compliance.

Description : a safe, concurrent, practical language

 Rust is a curly-brace, block-structured expression language.
It visually resembles the C language family, but differs significantly
in syntactic and semantic details. Its design is oriented toward
concerns of programming in the large, that is, of creating and
maintaining boundaries - both abstract and operational - that
preserve large-system integrity, availability and concurrency.
 .
It supports a mixture of imperative procedural, concurrent actor,
object-oriented and pure functional styles. Rust also supports
generic programming and metaprogramming, in both static and
 dynamic styles.

Bug#786375: about gRPC packaging

2015-05-21 Thread GCS
Hi Andrew,

I already have packages (for 0.5.0), I was just slow to send the ITP.
May I still join? But of course, I trust you if you would like to do
it alone.

Regards,

Description : object caching wrapper around BerkeleyDB

Cache::BDB implements a caching layer around BerkeleyDB for object
persistence. It implements the basic methods necessary to add, retrieve, and
remove objects but not expiration, automatic purging etc. The main advantage
over other caching modules is performance. The API is reasonably feature rich,
but does not compare with using BerkeleyDB directly.

The interface is similar to Cache::Cache.

Description : Extension for Nautilus to do administrative operations

Nautilus Admin is a simple Python extension for the Nautilus file manager that
adds some administrative actions to the right-click menu:

- Open as Administrator: opens a folder in a new Nautilus window running
with administrator (root) privileges.
- Edit as Administrator: opens a file in a Gedit window running with
administrator (root) privileges.

I'm the upstream author.
The extension uses policy kit (pkexec) to open nautilus/gedit as root.
Since it opens those programs as root, I would highly recommend a code review
(it's a short code).

I created this extension because nautilus-gksu is no longer available.
This is certainly a useful extension, and there are probably many users that
want an Open as Administrator action in Nautilus (including me).

Bug#786465: ITP: fstrm -- Frame Streams (fstrm) library

2015-05-21 Thread Robert Edmonds
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Robert Edmonds edmo...@debian.org

* Package name: fstrm
  Version : 0.2.0
Upstream Author : Farsight Security, Inc.
* URL : https://github.com/farsightsec/fstrm
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Frame Streams (fstrm) library

Frame Streams is a light weight, binary clean protocol that allows for the
transport of arbitrarily encoded data payload sequences with minimal framing
overhead -- just four bytes per data frame. Frame Streams does not specify an
encoding format for data frames and can be used with any data serialization
format that produces byte sequences, such as Protocol Buffers, XML, JSON,
MessagePack, YAML, etc. Frame Streams can be used as both a streaming
transport over a reliable byte stream socket (TCP sockets, TLS connections,
AF_UNIX sockets, etc.) for data in motion as well as a file format for data
at rest. A Content Type header identifies the type of payload being carried
over an individual Frame Stream and allows cooperating programs to determine
how to interpret a given sequence of data payloads.
 .
This is the fstrm implementation of Frame Streams in C.

Bug#786430: RFP: gnome-multi-writer -- Write an ISO file to multiple USB devices at once

2015-05-21 Thread Sebastien CHAVAUX

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: gnome-multi-writer
  Version : 3.16.0
Upstream Author : Richard Hughes rich...@hughsie.com
* URL : https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/MultiWriter
https://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2015/01/02/introducing-gnome-multiwriter/
* License : GPLv2+
  Programming Lang: Gtk3
Description : Write an ISO file to multiple USB devices at once

the long description:
GNOME MultiWriter can be used to write an ISO file to multiple USB
devices at

once. Supported drive sizes are between 1Gb and 32Gb.

MultiWriter may be useful for QA testing, to create a GNOME Live image for a
code sprint or to create hundreds of LiveUSB drives for a trade show.

https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/MultiWriter
https://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2015/01/02/introducing-gnome-multiwriter/

This program allows multiple copies of one or more iso on USB key . Very
convenient to burn Debian isos and make propaganda.

Once packed , I want to help maintain it, since I 'm already on another
distribution, or at least I put it a day locally and I spec shipments
(that's

the RPM). I 'm still not very suitable to build a DEB package format, I know
hardly put a level ) .

Thank you in advance

Bug#786432: RFP: cargo -- Rust package manager

2015-05-21 Thread Miguel Landaeta
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cargo
  Version : 0.2.0
Upstream Author : Alex Crichton a...@alexcrichton.com
* URL : https://crates.io/
* License : MIT/X
  Programming Lang: Rust
  Description : Rust package manager

Cargo is a tool that allows Rust projects to declare their various
dependencies, and ensure that you'll always get a repeatable build.

To accomplish this goal, Cargo does four things:
 .
 * Introduces two metadata files with various bits of project
   information.
 .
 * Fetches and builds your project's dependencies.
 .
 * Invokes rustc or another build tool with the correct parameters to
   build your project.
 .
 * Introduces conventions, making working with Rust projects easier.
