Hi Wences Arana,

Thanks for all your work on amoebax!

My understanding is that this package is still maintained in the Games
team and the package still has an active uploader (Markus, who I've
cc-ed). As long as Markus is still interested in maintaining this
package, there's no need to file a wnpp bug to orphan amoebax; all you
need to do is to remove yourself from Uploaders in d/control. If
you're ok with it, I can do so on your behalf in amoebax's git
packaging repo.

Bug#790563: ITP: python-ijson -- event-driven JSON parser

2015-06-30 Thread Tomasz Buchert
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Tomasz Buchert tom...@debian.org

* Package name: python-ijson
  Version : 2.2
  Upstream Author : Ivan Sagalaev
* URL : https://github.com/isagalaev/ijson
* License : BSD (3-clause)
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : event-driven JSON parser

Ijson is an iterative, event-driven JSON parser with a standard Python iterator
interface. The principle is similar to Java SAX parser: the user can parse a
document on-the-fly, without storing the whole object in memory.

Preliminary packaging done here:
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/python-ijson.git

Cheers,
Tomasz

 I’ll assume that the lack of answer means something like “no,
 [something rude]”.

That's an unfounded assumption (lack of answer should not be assumed
as hostility). Instead, the assumption should be that an honest error
was made, unless there is compelling evidence to the contrary.

Since it's also incorrect (i.e. lack of response was in this case not
due to hostility), I will undo those changes to this bug report, and
update it, by merging with another.

I'll respond to the earlier message separately.

  It seems to be a Python library (in the main site, I can read that it is

 Not necessarily (as we are talking about the source package name).

indeed, most python modules I've looked at so far don't have the python-
prefix in their name

I am looking for a sponsor for my package ‘libjs-zxcvbn’:

Package name: libjs-zxcvbn
Version : 1.0+dfsg.2-2
Upstream Author : Dan Wheeler d...@dropbox.com
URL :
https://tech.dropbox.com/2012/04/zxcvbn-realistic-password-strength-estimation/
License : Expat
Section : web

It builds these binary packages:

libjs-zxcvbn - realistic password strength estimation — JavaScript library

You can get the package with ‘dget’:

$ dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libj/libjs-zxcvbn/libjs-zxcvbn_1.0+dfsg.2-2.dsc

More information about ‘zxcvbn’ can be obtained from
URL:https://mentors.debian.net/package/libjs-zxcvbn
and in the ITP bug report URL:http://bugs.debian.org/726171.

This release contains the following significant changes:

  * Updated re-pack of upstream source, this time preserving source
data files.
  * Add copyright information for source data files.
  * Cached data files are source, don't clobber them.
  * Assist build reproducibility through options to ‘tar’.
  * Updated VCS URL fields.

Thanks to Eriberto Mota eribe...@debian.org and David Prévot
taf...@debian.org for feedback on earlier releases of this package.

Thanks. Fixed now in the latest release to Mentors
URL:https://mentors.debian.net/package/libjs-zxcvbn.

 I seem to recall you did a fair work to rebuild everything from
 scratch with DFSG source, so that looked promising. Yet, one year
 and a half seems like a long time to get the package in the archive,
 so what is the status?

Still awaiting a sponsor; hopefully, one who knows enough about
packaging JavaScript in Debian to confirm I've not broken anything.

   Description : Pretty-print tabular data in Python

  Pretty-print tabular data in Python, a library and a command-line utility.
  The main use cases of the library are:
   - printing small tables without hassle: just one function call, formatting
 is
 guided by the data itself
   - authoring tabular data for lightweight plain-text markup: multiple output
 formats suitable for further editing or transformation
   - readable presentation of mixed textual and numeric data: smart column
 alignment, configurable number formatting, alignment by a decimal point

  I have now begin packaging this library. But I am novice at packaging
  ECMAScript, and could use some advice!

 Any update?

I’ll assume that the lack of answer means something like “no, [something
rude]”. Holding the effort on this packaging during almost two years is
not really welcome.

Bug#782140: ITP: python-tabulate -- Pretty-print tabular data in Python

2015-06-30 Thread Sandro Tosi
Great, I will contact you shortly, after I reviewed the current
package. In the meantime, would you consider joining DPMT
(https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/PythonModulesTeam) and maintain the
package there? There's a guide about the team and git
(https://wiki.debian.org/Python/GitPackaging) but we just need to move
the package in the dpmt git area (I can do that for you, if that's
quicker).

  Description : LWP::UserAgent with caching based on CHI

This is a User Agent for caching responses to HTTP requests. It uses
the new and flexible CHI caching framework, and it has been developed
using Moo, which makes it easy to modify certain behaviour.

There exists several caching user agents already, but they all do
small parts of the standard, and some do not really do caching at all,
only validation. The focus of this module is support for RFC7234 and
RFC7232. Support for the former is quite complete allready. Also, it
is not tied to a single caching mechanism, since it uses CHI.

  The conditional context manager comes handy when you always want to
 execute a with-block but only conditionally want to apply its context
 manager.

An entire package for just 18 lines of python? 3 of those lines are
docstring. Even if a few packages import it, it doesn't really seem
worth packaging separately. Just wondering.

at work we use it, so why not package it properly instead of keeping a
private deb?
