Bug#792014: ITP: repo -- repository management tool built on top of git

2015-07-10 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Hans-Christoph Steiner h...@eds.org

* Package name: repo
  Version : v1.12.22
  Upstream Author : Google, Inc
* URL : https://source.android.com/source/developing.html
* License : Apache 2.0
  Programming Lang: Python
  Package source  :
https://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=android-tools/repo.git
  Description: repository management tool built on top of git

 Repo is a repository management tool that we built on top of Git. Repo
 unifies the many Git repositories when necessary, does the uploads to our
 revision control system, and automates parts of the Android development
 workflow. Repo is not meant to replace Git, only to make it easier to work
 with Git in the context of Android. The repo command is an executable Python
 script that you can put anywhere in your path. In working with the Android
 source files, you will use Repo for across-network operations. For example,
 with a single Repo command you can download files from multiple repositories
 into your local working directory.
 .
 repo is an unusual tool because it downloads all of the python modules it
 needs to run using GPG-signed git tags, and stores those files as part of the
 project that it is working with. So this package just provides the wrapper
 script, which provides the GPG signing keys for verifying that the correct
 python code was downloaded.

Bug#792018: ITP: commandbox -- CFML REPL, CLI, Package Manager, and Embedded Server

2015-07-10 Thread Brad Wood
package: wnpp

Severity: wishlist

Owner: 'Brad Wood' b...@ortussolutions.com

* Package name: commandbox
  Version : 2.1.0
* URL : http://www.ortussolutions.com/products/commandbox
* License : LGPL v3
  Programming Lang: Java, CFML
  Description : CFML REPL, CLI, Package Manager, and Embedded Server

CommandBox is a CLI tool for CFML developers built on a command-based
architecture that includes a REPL, package management, and embedded server
for starting up CFML websites quickly. It's only dependency is to have
Java installed and it comes with an old-school snake game and cool ASCII
art generation. A getting started guide is available in our docs here:

http://ortus.gitbooks.io/commandbox-documentation/content/getting_started_guide.html

The tool is distributed for Window, Max, and Linux. We have Debian and RPM
packages created as part of our Ant build. The current stable .deb file is
on our artifacts server here:
http://downloads.ortussolutions.com/ortussolutions/commandbox/2.0.0/commandbox-debian-2.0.0.deb

User can install CommandBox by adding deb
http://downloads.ortussolutions.com/debs/noarch / to their sources list
but we'd like to make CommandBox generally available via the main Deb ian
repos to allow for easier installations in server environments such as
Travis CI which just recenlty removed the ability to run install scripts as
sudo.

Thanks!

~Brad

  Description : A systems and service monitoring system.

Prometheus is a systems and service monitoring system. It collects metrics from
configured targets at given intervals, evaluates rule expressions, displays the
results, and can trigger alerts if some condition is observed to be true.

Prometheus' main distinguishing features as compared to other monitoring
systems are:

* A multi-dimensional data model (timeseries defined by metric name and set of
  key/value dimensions).
* A flexible query language to leverage this dimensionality.
* No dependency on distributed storage; single server nodes are autonomous.
* Timeseries collection happens via a pull model over HTTP.
* Pushing timeseries is supported via an intermediary gateway.
* Targets are discovered via service discovery or static configuration.
* Multiple modes of graphing and dashboarding support.
* Federation support coming soon.

* Package name: chemps2

  Description : spin-adapted DMRG for ab initio quantum chemistry

 chemps2 provides a free open-source spin-adapted implementation of the
density
 matrix renormalization group (DMRG) for ab initio quantum chemistry. This
 method allows to obtain numerical accuracy in active spaces beyond the
 capabilities of full configuration interaction. For the input Hamiltonian
and
 targeted symmetry sector, the library performs successive DMRG sweeps
 according to a user-defined convergence scheme. As output, the library
returns
 the minimal encountered energy as well as the 2-RDM of the active space.
The
 latter allows to calculate various properties, as well as the gradient and
 Hessian for orbital rotations or nuclear displacements.

Usefulness: chemps2 will be needed for psi4 (http://www.psicode.org/),
horton (http://theochem.github.io/horton/), and
pyscf (https://github.com/sunqm/pyscf). psi4 is, and horton will
be, packaged for debian and redhat.
Maintaining: As the upstream author of chemps2, developed at Ghent
University,
 I want my library to be useful for others. Therefore the
library
 will be integrated in other quantum chemistry packages. Since I
 have an ongoing employment in academia, I will continue to
 maintain the upstream source as well as the package for this
 intent.

I intend to orphan the wxmaxima package.

The package description is:
 wxMaxima is a graphical user interface for the computer algebra system
 Maxima. It eases the use of Maxima by making most of its commands available
 through a menu system and by providing input dialogs for commands that
 require more than one argument. It also implements its own display engine
 that outputs mathematical symbols directly instead of depicting them with
 ASCII characters.
 .
 wxMaxima also features 2D and 3D inline plots, simple animations, mixing of
 text and mathematical calculations to create documents, exporting of input

2015-07-10 Thread W. Martin Borgert

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Package name: ajenti
Version : 1.2.22
Upstream Author : Eugene Pankov e...@ajenti.org
URL : http://ajenti.org/
License : AGPL3
Programming Lang: Python
Description : multilingual web-based server administration panel

With Ajenti, it is possible to configure operating system internals,
such as users, files, services or configuration files, as well as
modify and control open source apps, such as the nginx, PHP, cron
and others.

Ajenti is running as its own process and web server. It defaults to
TCP port 8000 for communicating, and is configured to use SSL with
an automatically generated self-signed SSL certificate by default.

AFAIK, all dependencies are already fulfilled in Debian.

  Description : Plugins to use PostgreSQL as a database back-end to Orthanc

Orthanc PostgreSQL are a set of 2 plugins to Orthanc, a lightweight, RESTful
Vendor Neutral Archive for medical imaging. These plugins override the default
SQLite engine of Orthanc with a PostgreSQL back-end. They bring scalability
to Orthanc, making it enterprise-ready.

This package should ideally be maintained by the Debian Med team, who
already maintains Orthanc.

 This repo contains unofficial code related to Google Cloud Platform services;
 in particular a package for interacting with Google Cloud Storage. The latter
 is just a wrapper around code that exists elsewhere, presenting it with a
 different API.

This is a dependency of gcsfuse, a fuse file system for Google Cloud Storage.

Bug#792075: ITP: git-lfs -- Git Large File Support. An open source Git extension for versioning large files

2015-07-10 Thread Asheesh Laroia
Hi Stephen! I'm excited to see this land in Debian.

I'm curious if you know if there a free software backend that is compatible
with the git-lfs protocol. If so, that'd be great to see in Debian as well
one day.

If not, if I understand Policy correctly, you would need to take care to
set the package's section to contrib. See
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html for more
information.

(As I understand policy, if there *is* a git-lfs compatible backend that is
free software, it's fine to have git-lfs in main, even if that backend
isn't currently available in Debian.)

Again, nice to see your enthusiasm, and I hope you can find a sponsor for
this package.

Bug#792075: ITP: git-lfs -- Git Large File Support. An open source Git extension for versioning large files

2015-07-10 Thread Stephen Gelman
Github provides a reference implementation:

https://github.com/github/lfs-test-server
https://github.com/github/lfs-test-server

I believe that qualifies it to go in main. In addition the API is open source.

Bug#792082: ITP: libtext-mediawikiformat-perl -- Convert Mediawiki markup into other text formats

2015-07-10 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: wnpp
Owner: Axel Beckert a...@debian.org
Severity: wishlist
Control: block 792077 by -1

* Package name: libtext-mediawikiformat-perl
  Version : 1.04
  Upstream Author : Gábor Szabó ga...@pti.co.il
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Text-MediawikiFormat
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Convert Mediawiki markup into other text formats

Wikipedia and its sister projects use the PHP Mediawiki to format
their pages. Text::MediawikiFormat attempts to duplicate the Mediawiki
formatting rules. Those formatting rules can be simple and easy to use, while
providing more advanced options for the power user. They are also easy to
translate into other, more complicated markup languages with this module. It
creates HTML by default, but could produce valid POD, DocBook, XML, or any
other format imaginable.

The most important function is Text::MediawikiFormat::format(). It is not
exported by default, but will be exported as wikiformat() if any options at
all are passed to the exporter, unless the name is overridden explicitly. See
EXPORT for more information.

It should be noted that this module is written as a drop in replacement for
Text::WikiMarkup that expands on that modules functionality and provides a
default rule set that may be used to format text like the PHP Mediawiki. It
is also well to note early that if you just want a Mediawiki clone (you don't
need to customize it heavily and you want integration with a back end
database), you should look at Wiki::Toolkit::Formatter::Mediawiki.

---

This is actually an reintroduction of this package. It had been
removed in April 2014 (#743341) due to being

* RC-buggy (#711619, FTBFS with no response from upstream),
* low-popcon, and
* a leaf-package.

Since then the package's upstream has been taken over by someone else
whose first release fixed that RC-bug.

Reason for the reintroduction is that it's a dependency of
libtext-markup-perl, see #792077.

The package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Perl
Group.

  Programming Lang: fonts
  Description : Set of the 35 PostScript Language Level 2 Base Fonts
 A commercial-quality set of the basic 35 PostScript Type 1 fonts.
 Each font includes .pfb (outlines), .afm (metrics), and .pfm (Windows printer
 metrics) files. The fonts are compatible with general Type 1 manipulation
 tools as well as with Ghostscript.

This package will contain an updated set of the 35 PostScript base fonts, that
has been made available by upstream author URW++ to Artifex, the developers of
Ghostscript, and is already shipped as part of ghostscript 9.09. It is intended
to replace the gsfonts package, which contains a fork of an ancient version of
these fonts with added cyrilic glyphs. However, that fork is long unmaintained
upstream and the glyphs are of reportedly questionable quality, which I cannot
judge for myself, though. The package will also integrate the effort to make
the fonts available to an X server and thus replace the gsfonts-x11 package.
Finally, I am going to convince the texlive maintainers to replace their copy
of these fonts in the texlive-fonts-recommended package (used for the psnfss
latex-package) with this pristine release. All corresponsing package
maintainers are in CC.

I am going to maintain this package under the umbrella of the pkg-fonts team.
The license for the fonts used to be GPL, but a corresponding note has
apparently been forgotten in the current release. This issue is reported as
#720906 in Debian (against the ghostscript package, which already ships an
updated version of these fonts, but not yet this latest update) and has been
brought to the attention of ghostscript upstream who will strive for
clarification with URW++ in the short term.

  Description : pure-python2 library for parsing ELF and DWARF

 pyelftools is a pure-Python library for parsing and analyzing ELF
 files and DWARF debugging information. It can be used to query
 information about compiled binaries and libraries from your Python
 code.

This package is required for a newer versions of pax-utils [1]. However,
it is interesting on its own - it provides Python 2 3 compatible
library to parse ELF files and reimplementation of readelf from
binutils.

I can maintain it myself (I already maintain pax-utils). I've already
did the preliminary packaging [2].

The source package builds 3 binary packages: Python2 library, Python3 library
and pyreadelf which depends on Python3 library.

Cheers,
Tomasz
