Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Paulo Kretcheu* Package name: pingo Version : 0.2.0 Upstream Author : Luciano Ramalho * URL : http://pingo.io * License : MIT Programming Lang: Python Description : Generic API for controlling boards with programmable IO pins Pingo provides a uniform API to program devices like the Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone Black, pcDuino etc. just like the Python DBAPI provides an uniform API for database programming in Python. The API is object-oriented but easy to use: a board is an instance of a Board subclass. Every board has a dictionary called pins which lists all GPIO pins on the board. Each pin is an instance of a Pin subclass with attributes that you can inspect to learn about its capabilities. The name Pingo is a tribute to Garoa Hacker Clube, where the project started (the words pingo and garoa are related in Portuguese). To our English-speaking friends we like to say that it means "pin, go!".

They do not provide any intelligent defaults of HTTP-specific methods. They are simply aimed at providing an easy means to address the mechanics of header parsing. . The output style is designed to mimic CGI.pm and HTTP::Headers, so that users familiar with these interfaces will feel at home with these functions. Bug#617296: Please provide a way to exclude all third party code from build process
Hi Bertrand, We applaud you for taking on this work, however you should know that we plan on doing it as well in due time. The biggest issue you will face in attempting to package RStudio is the fragility of certain dependencies (mostly QtWebKit). i.e. the product breaks in subtle ways when moving from one minor Qt release to the next. That's the main reason to date that we have chosen to pin versions of various dependencies. Another reason is that often we need the *very latest* (or even a patched) version of large complex software like Boost, Qt, or GWT to work correctly. We are an *extremely* small team and having the software work against a large matrix of these dependencies is too much to keep up with right now. There's a philosophical and practical issue in play here: many large/complex software projects choose embedded dependencies both as a way to achieve a sane test matrix and as a way of exercising required control over patches / bug fixes in dependencies. As you start to unroll this it gets harder and harder to keep up (i.e. you could package GWT but then it in turn has a bunch of embedded dependencies, you could package those as well but then you get further off of being able to track to the latest GWT release or even to GWT trunk). Net: it's really hard for a large product developed by a small team like RStudio to take all dependencies dynamically without either (a) Escalating the engineering and testing cost unacceptably; or (b) Making it so folks running RStudio on mainstream distros aren't stuck running much older versions of the product. As an example, we recently migrated from Qt 4.7 to Qt 5.4 to get dramatically improved UI performance. We found that we were unable to run against Qt 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 for various reasons (some missing features, some difficult to track down bugs). We made the move to Qt 5.4 and can now support that on Ubuntu 12.04+. Had we not been using embedded dependencies though we actually couldn't even support Ubuntu 14.04 (since it includes Qt 5.2). It's not acceptable to most customers to run Debian testing just to use the latest version of RStudio. In fact, just moving to Qt 5 would have forced us to drop Ubuntu 12.04. This would have been a complete non-starter so we'd need the product to compile and run correctly against BOTH Qt 4 and Qt 5. Not impossible (QtCreator does it) but a large cost for a small team. The same thing will be playing out again with Qt 5.6 where we'll move to using QtWebEngine (Chromium). It's just too much for us to maintain two versions of the code (one that supports QtWebKit and one that supports QtWebEngine) and much, much better for customers to run against the faster Chromium engine. Again, I applaud your efforts but I think that you'll find you need to maintain your own branch of a heavily modified RStudio in order to sustainably keep it packaged for Debian. We'll ultimately take this work on ourselves once we feel that dependencies are sufficiently stable (likely after Qt 5.6 this winter). J.J. Bug#800361: ITP: libnunc-stans -- Thread pool based event framework wrapper
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Timo Aaltonen* Package name: libnunc-stans Version : 0.1.5 Upstream Author : Red Hat * URL : http://fedorahosted.org/nunc-stans * License : GPL-3+ Programming Lang: C Description : Thread pool based event framework wrapper Nunc-stans is an event framework wrapper that provides a thread pool for event callback execution. It provides thread safety to event frameworks by isolating and protecting the thread safe parts from the non-thread safe parts, and allows multi-threaded applications to use event frameworks that are not thread safe. It has been primarily developed using libevent, but has also been tested with tevent. Nunc-stans uses lock free data structures where possible, to avoid mutex contention. The liblfds library is used.
Bug#788994: denyhosts maintainer
It appears the denyhosts package has now been uploaded to the NEW queue and I am still listed as the maintainer. Since the package was removed from Debian, I have not been maintaining it and do not currently have time to maintain it moving forward. I have no objection to the package re-entering Debian (And in fact, I hope to see the new open source denyhosts sync server follow as well). However, I do ask that you remove my name as maintainer. The person mainly responsible for the recent activity and packaging seems to be Jan-Pascal van Best. He is already an approved Debian Maintainer and is listed as an uploader in the new package. It seems logical that he should now be listed as the maintainer as well. Thanks - Kyle Willmon

Bug#800055: ITP: testssl.sh -- Command line tool to check TLS/SSL ciphers, protocols and cryptographic flaws
On Sat, 26 Sep 2015 14:30:53 +0800 ChangZhuo Chenwrote: > Package: wnpp > Severity: wishlist > Owner: "ChangZhuo Chen (陳昌倬)" > > * Package name: testssl.sh > Version : 2.6 > Upstream Author : Dirk Wetter > * URL : https://testssl.sh/ > * License : GPL-2 > Programming Lang: bash > Description : Command line tool to check TLS/SSL ciphers, > protocols and cryptographic flaws > > (Include the long description here.) ^^^ Please remove this line: it's a placeholder for the long description you're writing, not a part of it. > testssl.sh is a free command line tool which checks a server's > service on any port for the support of TLS/SSL ciphers, protocols as > well as recent cryptographic flaws and more. > . > Key features > . > * Clear output: you can tell easily whether anything is good or bad > . > * Ease of installation: It works for Linux, Darwin, FreeBSD and >MSYS2/Cygwin out of the box: no need to install or configure >something, no gems, CPAN, pip or the like. ^^^ This item is not needed: Debian has nothing to do with all the stuff cited. And installation here is a matter of calling `apt install packagename`, you know. > * Flexibility: You can test any SSL/TLS enabled and STARTTLS service, >not only webservers at port 443 > . > * Toolbox: Several command line options help you to run YOUR test and >configure YOUR output > . > * Reliability: features are tested thoroughly > . > * Verbosity: If a particular check cannot be performed because of a >missing capability on your client side, you'll get a warning > . > * Privacy: It's only you who sees the result, not a third party > . > * Freedom: It's 100% open source. You can look at the code, see > what's going on and you can change it. Heck, even the development is > open (github) ^^^ Everything which is in the Debian's main archive is free software by definition, so this point is not needed as well. Please also note that playful speech and jargonisms (like "Heck, ...!" style exclamations) have no place in the description of Debian packages. They should be neutral.
