Description : a C library that creates moodbars from video files

The tool creates colorful video barcodes, which can be used for navigation
within the video.

nordlicht converts video files into colorful barcodes. It's heavily inspired by
the "moviebarcode" tumblr. It takes the video's frames in regular intervals,
scales them to 1px width, and appends them.
The resulting barcodes can be integrated into video players for simplified
navigation.

There is no package yet in the archives which provides similar functionality.

I haven't found a suitable maintainer group yet, therefore I plan to maintain
it on my own for now. If anybody wants to take the package into a team, I am
very happy about that.

* Package name: python-progress
  Version : 1.2
  Upstream Author : Giorgos Verigakis

Description : easy progress reporting for Python

License note: ISC is this OSI approved license:

progress is a library for displaying progress meters for command line
Python applications. It is a relatively new dependency for pip, and
getting progress into Debian is a blocker for updating to the latest
version of pip.

We do have progressbar already in Debian, but I think it's still worth
getting progress in too for several reasons. One obviously is the pip
dependency. Upstream pip is amenable to contributed patches for
progressbar as an alternative, but this is a fair bit of work that to
be honest I don't want to block on in order to get pip updated (we're
woefully behind upstream here).

The other reason is that it's not entirely clear which package is
better supported upstream. progressbar itself appears to be
stalled/abandoned upstream. While it's last PyPI entry is dated
2015-02-20, it's last upstream github commit is dated 2012-12-25.
PyPI has a completely rewritten and not 100% compatible progressbar2,
but getting that into Debian would require an ITP anyway.

The last upload to PyPI for progress is dated 2013-11-28, but its
last upstream github commit is dated today (2016-01-27) so it's
clearly still active upstream, although it appears to be newly so.

On balance I think it is thus worth getting progress into Debian as
python-progress, for the pip dependency.

I plan to maintain this package as part of the Debian Python Modules
Team.

Description : static HTML+JavaScript photo album generator

“fgallery” is a static photo gallery generator with no frills that has a
stylish, minimalist look. “fgallery” shows your photos, and nothing else.
 .
There is no server-side processing, only static generation. The resulting
gallery can be uploaded anywhere without additional requirements and works with
 any modern browser.
 .
 * Automatically orients pictures without quality loss.
 * Multi-camera friendly: automatically sorts pictures by time: just throw your
(and your friends) photos and movies in a directory. The resulting gallery
shows the pictures in seamless shooting order.
 * Adapts to the current screen size and proportions, switching from
horizontal/vertical layout and scaling thumbnails automatically.
 * Includes original (raw) pictures in a zip file for downloading.
 * Panoramas can be seen full-size by default.

I'm packaging this because although the output is static, the resulting
galleries are quite dynamic, and different from other web album software
like album, bins, llgal, et cetera. The output is also quite pleasing
visually, without requiring any configuration of HTML and/or CSS
templates, and also allows keyboard navigation of a gallery.

Optionally, fgallery can make use of face detection software
(facedetect, which I might package separately later), to ensure images
with faces in them have their thumbnails centered on those faces.

Description : convert installed Python packages to wheels

The purpose of this package is to make it easier to devendorize other
packages which bundle various upstream packages. An example of this
is pip, which bundles a half-dozen or so other upstream packages. In
Debian and other distros, such vendoring is frowned upon. To make it
easier to devendorize, dirtbike turns installed system packages into
wheels, and these wheels can then be used instead of the vendored
packages.

The intent is for dirtbike to be solely a Build-Depends for a limited
set of other packages such as python-pip, python-virtualenv, and any
other packages which vendorize their dependencies.

For now, I plan to maintain this myself (perhaps with other upstream
authors who are also Debian Developers), but it may eventually migrate
to the Python Applications Packaging Team (PAPT).

Bug#745027: Missing dependencies

2016-01-29 Thread Filip Pytloun
Hello,

I've almost finished packaging of vdirsyncer but it requires
dependencies not currently in sid:
python-click-log and python-atomicwrites

It shouldn't be difficult to package these as well, but any help is
welcome :-)

Bug#745027: Missing dependencies

2016-01-29 Thread Filip Pytloun
I am pretty new to maintaining official Debian packages but if new
release won't introduce some new dependencies (especially that are not
packaged yet), creating new package version should be almost automatic.

Of course there's some unstable -> testing -> stable release process,
but unfortunately I have no practical experience with this yet.

A question: If I release an update of vdirsyncer the day after it is packaged
for Debian, how long would it take to reach the repo? Which intermediate
staging repos are there that would delay an immediate update of the package?

Description : fast lossless compression algorithm

Zstd, short for Zstandard, is a fast lossless compression algorithm, targeting
real-time compression scenarios at zlib-level compression ratio. Zstd can also
offer stronger compression ratio at the cost of compression speed. Speed /
Ratio trade-off is configurable by small increment, to fit different
situations. Note however that decompression speed is preserved and remain
roughly the same at all settings, a property shared by most LZ compression
algorithms, such as zlib.

This will be co-maintained under Debian Med.

  Programming Lang: C++
Description : C++11 library for serialization

cereal is a header-only C++11 serialization library. cereal takes arbitrary
data types and reversibly turns them into different representations, such
as compact binary encodings, XML, or JSON. cereal was designed to be fast,
light-weight, and easy to extend - it has no external dependencies and can
be easily bundled with other code or used standalone.

This program is a dependency for salmon.

This package will be maintained as part of the Debian Med packaging team.

Bug#686447: What can be done to make zfs-linux easier to review?

2016-01-29 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Hi.

Is there anything that can be done outside the ftpmaster team to make it
easier to review the zfs-linux package in NEW? Personally I use zfs on
my storage server, and would love to be able to use packages from the
official Debian mirror instead of unofficial packages from elsewhere.
Apparently Ubuntu already got zfs packages in universe, but I would like
Debian to have it too. According to https://bugs.debian.org/686447 >
the previous legal issues have been resolved, and thus I hope the road
is paved to get zfs into Debian.

Earlier, Thorsten Alteholz told me that normally a long time in NEW
means that there is something wrong with the package, but nobody found
the time to write the REJECT-mail.

But we have no clue what could be wrong, and thus do not know where to
try to improve it.

I know it is obvious from
https://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html > that there
is still quite a long backlog in NEW, and that you are processing it as
quickly as you can, so I do not mean to interrupt to try to push zfs
ahead in the queue on the expence of some other package, but just wanted
to check if there is some way we can reduce your work load and from our
end increase the chance of zfs getting past NEW.

Please let us know if there is. We are happy to update the package and
upload new versions if it make your review process easier.

Cc to the alioth mailing list that is the community who is going to
maintain zfs-linux in Debian.

Happy hacking
Petter Reinholdtsen

Description : Kick ass affine-invariant ensemble MCMC sampling for Python
emcee is an extensible, pure-Python implementation of Goodman &
Weare's Affine Invariant Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) Ensemble
sampler. It's designed for Bayesian parameter estimation.

This package will maintained within the Debian Astronomy Working Group.
A git repository will be created on alioth [1].
