Bug#813245: RFA: apt-listchanges -- package change history notification tool
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the apt-listchanges package. The package description is: The tool apt-listchanges can compare a new version of a package with the one currently installed and show what has been changed, by extracting the relevant entries from the Debian changelog and NEWS files. . It can be run on several .deb archives at a time to get a list of all changes that would be caused by installing or upgrading a group of packages. When configured as an APT plugin it will do this automatically during upgrades.

Bug#813246: O: libkdtree++ -- C++ template container implementation of kd-tree sorting
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I no longer have any use for libkdtree++, so I am orphaning it. Description: C++ template container implementation of kd-tree sorting libkdtree++ is a C++ template container implementation of k-dimensional space sorting, using a kd-tree. It: . - supports an unlimited number of dimensions (in theory) - can store any data structure, provided the data structure provides operator[0 - k-1] to access the individual dimensional components (arrays, std::vector already do) and a std::less implementation for the type of dimensional components - has support for custom allocators - implements iterators - provides standard find as well as range queries - has amortised O(lg n) time (O(n lg n) worst case) on most operations (insert/erase/find optimised) and worst-case O(n) space - provides a means to rebalance and thus optimise the tree - exists in its own namespace - uses STL coding style, basing a lot of the code on stl_tree.h . libkdtree++ only exists as a -dev package as it's only a bunch of C++ header files. Therefore, no static or shared library is necessary, allowing for ultimate flexibility. Cheers -- Sebastian Ramacher signature.asc Description: PGP signature

The alarming component of Aodh, first delivered in the Havana version, allows you to set alarms based on threshold evaluation for a collection of samples. An alarm can be set on a single meter, or on a combination. For example, you may want to trigger an alarm when the memory consumption reaches 70% on a given instance if the instance has been up for more than 10 min. . This package provides the client Python module and CLI.
Bug#813212: O: polygen -- generator of random sentences from grammar definitions
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the polygen package. The package description is: PolyGen is a program for generating random sentences according to a grammar definition, that is following custom syntactical and lexical rules. . Formally, it is an interpreter of a language itself designed to define languages, where to interpret means executing a source program in real time and eventually outputting its result. . Here a source program is a grammar definition, the execution consists in the exploration of such grammar by selecting a random path and the result is the sentence built on the way. . Though PolyGen is quite a serious piece of software then, what else would be more noble for it than being used as a parody tool for linguistical habits, stereotypes and trends of this foolish era? . Principles of parody are focusing a ridiculous topic and eventually abstracting its rules and schemes (here in terms of a grammar definition) by which reproducing it through the variatio device. And randomization is perfect at this purpose thanks to its purely asemantic behaviour =:) Rationale is at https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2016/01/msg00729.html

I don't see any other > reverse dependency in the archive but the one I just mentioned above. > Please reply to this question. Sorry as I said, I did not reply only because I was very busy at the start of this year. To reply to your question: the only problem I see here is that you can't push commit on DPMT repositories, right? I will be happy to accept any patch that improve the packaging, and you know I'm usually fast on handling issues (yes, writing email has a low priority... :D). Is this still a concern for you? I was thinking from a bit of time, this email only reminded my thoughts: since PKG-OpenStack team maintains also packages not strictly related to OpenStack (I'm not involved so I would not be a good choice to help there) it would be accepted a request to join the team from me, only to do QA work on OpenStack dependencies (To be more clear, I mean packages like python-invocations, python-greenio, etc: so general packages used by OpenStack)? This way I will be more involved on PKG-OpenStack side and maybe you will have less concern on having betamax on DPMT. :) Cheers, -- Daniele Tricoli 'eriol' https://mornie.org signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Bug#813236: O: debiancontributors -- Manage submissions to contributors.debian.org
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the debiancontributors package. Bug#808880: Package uploaded
On 01/30/2016 11:57 PM, Daniele Tricoli wrote: > To reply to your question: the only problem I see here is that you can't push > commit on DPMT repositories, right? That's not the only problem. Betamax will (and currently is) an imporant dependency of OpenStack packages. Meaning that having it to pop in the PKG OpenStack makes a lot of sense. Also, usually for OpenStack, I very much dislike being slowed down because I can't update one of the dependencies (I do at least 5 or 6 uploads every day). Or is it that Betamax is about to be used by anything else than OpenStack? > I will be happy to accept any patch that improve the packaging, and you know > I'm usually fast on handling issues (yes, writing email has a low priority... > :D). > Is this still a concern for you? Yes, as I would have like to be a co-maintainer, and push updates myself to the Git, so things can be done in 30 minutes instead of a minimum of 3 days (for emails to go back and forth). > I was thinking from a bit of time, this email only reminded my thoughts: > since > PKG-OpenStack team maintains also packages not strictly related to OpenStack > (I'm not involved so I would not be a good choice to help there) it would be > accepted a request to join the team from me, only to do QA work on OpenStack > dependencies (To be more clear, I mean packages like python-invocations, > python-greenio, etc: so general packages used by OpenStack)? I very much would welcome help. For these 2 packages, I tried to fix things, and couldn't find a solution yet. As they aren't really used *yet* (ie: it's to be used by Fuel, which I didn't start uploading to Debian yet), it has a lower priority. So by all means, please help on these 2 packages. > This way I will be more involved on PKG-OpenStack side and maybe you will > have > less concern on having betamax on DPMT. :) Are you interested in OpenStack? :) Cheers, Thomas Goirand (zigo)

Bug#808880: Package uploaded
> That's not the only problem. Betamax will (and currently is) an imporant dependency of OpenStack packages. It doesn't seem that important to me. It's currently been added as a *test* dependency and it's only in *one* project (http://codesearch.openstack.org/?q=betamax=nope==). Yes keystoneauth will soon be adopted by an increasing number of projects but betamax is not only a *test* dependency, it's an *optional* test dependency meaning that projects may choose to use it or not. An increasing number of other projects (like the requests-toolbelt) are adopting Betamax at the same time and being packaged by DPMT. Since I think the adoption story will be much wider outside of OpenStack I see little benefit to this being in PKG OpenStack. > I very much would welcome help. I applied to the team, offered help, and then ~1 year later had my membership declined. If I re-apply, would I be able to help with other projects now? > Are you interested in OpenStack? :) "Interested" is a strong word. ;) Cheers, Ian
Bug#813201: O: apt-xapian-index -- maintenance and search tools for a Xapian index of Debian packages
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the apt-xapian-index package. The package description is: This package provides update-apt-xapian-index, a tool to maintain a Xapian index of Debian package information in /var/lib/apt-xapian-index, and axi-cache, a command line search tool that uses the index. . axi-cache allows one to search packages very quickly, and it also interfaces with the shell command line completion in a smart way, providing context-sensitive keyword and tag suggestions even before the search command is actually run. . update-apt-xapian-index allows plugins to be installed in /usr/share/apt-xapian-index to index all sorts of extra information, such as Debtags tags, popcon information, package ratings and anything else that would fit. . The index generated by update-apt-xapian-index is self-documenting, as it contains an autogenerated README file with information on the index layout and all the data that can be found in it. Rationale is at https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2016/01/msg00729.html

Bug#813200: O: buffy -- Heavy duty browser for mail folders
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the buffy package. The package description is: Buffy is a program that displays a compact summary of your mail folders, and allows to invoke a command (usually a mail reader) on them. It is written with the intent of being a handy everyday tool for people handling large volumes of mail. For mutt users, this can be a nice front-end to supplement the simple built-in folder browser when one has many folders to keep track of. . Buffy tries hard to work out of the box: it looks for mail folders in sensible places and comes with reasonable defaults. . The program is functional but still very young, and only Maildir and Mailbox format are supported at the moment. Rationale for the orphaning is at https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2016/01/msg00729.html
Bug#813204: O: debtags -- Enables support for package tags

A package tag is a small label that gets attached to a Debian package to represent one of its qualities. . A package tag database in the system can enable advanced package search techniques, and advanced package browsing functions in programs that support it. . This package has been made as a way to deploy and test package tags support until it gets integrated in the normal Debian workflow. Rationale is at https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2016/01/msg00729.html
Bug#813202: O: cfget -- featureful tool to read values from config files
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the cfget package. The package description is: cfget is a simple yet featureful tool to read values from configuration files. It is useful, for example, to create configurable shellscripts or makefiles. . Besides retrieving values, it can dump the information in several convenient ways, like a set of sh exports commands that can be conveniently passed to eval. It can also use the configuration values to expand template files. . It can also be configured to support virtual configuration values that, if not present in the config file, are automatically computed from the existing values. This makes it convenient, for example, to get a "duration" value from a configuration file that only contains a "start date" and an "end date". . It is also easy to create plugins to provide custom templating systems, export styles, dynamic values and even custom configuration file parsers. Rationale is at https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2016/01/msg00729.html

Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the libept package. Bug#813197: RFP: nik4 -- Mapnik to image export
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: nik4 Version : git Upstream Author : Ilya Zverev* URL : https://github.com/Zverik/Nik4 * License : WTFPL Programming Lang: Python Description : Mapnik to image export Nik4 is a mapnik-to-image exporting script. It requires only mapnik-python bindings. Nik4 takes great care to preserve values you feed it. If you say you need a 800×600 image, it won't take a pixel less or more. It won't shrink a bounding box or distort lines when specifying so called "scale factor". When you need a 300 dpi image, you tell it --ppi 300 and can be sure you will get what you intended. Also it can use real-world units, that is, millimeters (and prefers to). Specify dimensions for printing, choose bounding box and ppi scale — and the result won't disappoint. Options are intuitive and plenty, and you will be amazed how much tasks became simpler with Nik4.

Bug#813253: O: wmtv
Package: wnpp Severity: normal Hi, I’m hereby orphaning the wmtv package. I haven’t given this package any care for years, my last upload was in 2005. I also don’t use WindowMaker anymore, and I don’t use anymore any bt848- or bt878-based video capture card (and I can’t anyway since analog TV broadcast hast stopped in France). The package has also been dead upstream for as long as I have known it. Given its low popcon-score, this package might be a good candidate for removal. -- Nicolas signature.asc Description: Digital signature
