Bug#745027: Missing dependencies

2016-02-02 Thread Markus Unterwaditzer
Sorry to insist, but I'd really like to have a definitive answer on this before
vdirsyncer is packaged.

I suspect that if vdirsyncer makes its way into stable before 1.0, it
essentially means I'm forced into long-term support of whichever release is in
stable. However, ideally I'd like to only support the latest release of
vdirsyncer.

If being in stable would really hinder timely updates, I'd prefer vdirsyncer to
stay in testing/unstable forever.

Bug#813504: ITP: erlang-luerl -- implementation of Lua in Erlang

2016-02-02 Thread Philipp Huebner
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Philipp Huebner

* Package name: erlang-luerl
  Version : 0.2015.12.10
  Upstream Author : Robert Virding
* URL : https://github.com/rvirding/luerl
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Erlang
  Description : implementation of Lua in Erlang

 An experimental implementation of Lua 5.2 written solely in pure Erlang
 .
 When to use Luerl:
 .
 Fast Language Switch: Luerl should allow you to switch between Erlang and Lua
 incredibly fast, introducing a way to use very small bits of logic programmed
 in Lua, inside an Erlang application, with good performance.
 .
 Multicore: Luerl provides a way to transparently utilize multicores. The
 underlying Erlang VM takes care of the distribution.
 .
 Microprocesses: It should give you a Lua environment that allows you to
 effortlessly run tens of thousands of Lua processes in parallel, leveraging
 the famed microprocesses implementation of the Erlang VM. The empty Luerl
 State footprint will be yet smaller than the C Lua State footprint.
 .
 Forking Up: Because of the immutable nature of the Luerl VM, it becomes a
 natural operation to use the same Lua State as a starting point for multiple
 parallel calculations.
 .
 However, Luerl will generally run slower than a reasonable native Lua
 implementation. This is mainly due the emulation of mutable data on top of an
 immutable world. There is really no way around this. An alternative would be
 to implement a special Lua memory outside of the normal Erlang, but this would
 defeat the purpose of Luerl. It would instead be then more logical to connect
 to a native Lua.
 .
 Some valid use cases for Luerl are:
  * Lua code will be run only occasionally and it wouldn't be worth managing
an extra language implementation in the application;
  * the Lua code chunks are small so the slower speed is weighed up by Luerl's
faster interface;
  * the Lua code calculates and reads variables more than changing them;
  * the same Lua State is repeatedly used to 'fork up' as a basis for
massively many parallel calculations, based on the same state;
  * it is easy to run multiple instances of Luerl which could better utilise
multicores.

This package is a dependency of the next ejabberd release.

With my Kde team member on, we intend to orphan the virtuoso-opensource package.

virtuoso was part of the dependencies needed for nepomuk and with it's end of

 It provides transactions, a smart SQL compiler, hot backup, SQL:1999
 support, a powerful stored-procedure language supporting server-side
 Java or .NET, and more. It supports all major data-access interfaces,
 including ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, and OLE/DB.

* Package name: setop

  Upstream Author : Frank Stähr
* URL : http://github.com/phisigma/setop
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : apply set operations like intersection to text inputs

setop is a simple console utility for handling multiple inputs from files or
other streams as mathematical sets.
That is you can apply typical set operations like union, intersection, or set
difference and print a resulting set (sorted and with unique string elements)
to standard output or you can give answer to special queries like number of
elements.

Up to now, there is no similar package in the repository. Programs like sort,
uniq, comm, join, grep, awk, cat, combine, wc etc. can only inconveniently deal
with some (in each case one or two) features of setop, but none of these is as
universal, flexible, and easy to use as setop itself, including non-standalone
utilities like script languages.

I already asked at for the need of something
like setop and got at least a slightly positive feedback, mixed with references
to the above mentioned "workarounds", Python and LISP. See
.

Further maintance (e. g. translations, new features and of course bug fixing)
are planned, but at first I need a sponsor and am going to ask at
debian-mentors.

Owner: Andreas Tille

* Package name: ngs-sdk
  Version : 1.2.3
  Upstream Author : National Center for Biotechnology Information
* URL : https://github.com/ncbi/ngs
* License : public domain
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Next Generation Sequencing language Bindings
 NGS is a new, domain-specific API for accessing reads, alignments and
 pileups produced from Next Generation Sequencing. The API itself is
 independent from any particular back-end implementation, and supports
 use of multiple back-ends simultaneously. It also provides a library for
 building new back-end "engines". The engine for accessing SRA data is
 contained within the sister repository ncbi-vdb.
 .
 The API is currently expressed in C++, Java and Python languages. The
 design makes it possible to maintain a high degree of similarity between
 the code in one language and code in another - especially between C++
 and Java.

Remark: This package is a new dependency of the sra-sdk package and
maintained by the Debian Med team at
  git://anonscm.debian.org/debian-med/ngs-sdk.git

* Package name: python-kineticstools
  Version : 0.5.1
  Upstream Author : Pacific Biosciences
* URL : https://github.com/PacificBiosciences/kineticsTools
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : detecting DNA modifications from single molecule, real-time
sequencing data

kineticsTool loads IPDs observed at each position in the genome, and compares
those IPDs to value expected for unmodified DNA, and outputs the result of
this statistical test. The expected IPD value for unmodified DNA can come
from either an in-silico control or an amplified control. The in silico control
is trained by PacBio and shipped with the package. It predicts predicts the
IPD using the local sequence context around the current position. An amplified
control dataset is generated by sequencing unmodified DNA with the same
sequence as the test sample. An amplified control sample is usually generated
by whole-genome amplification of the original sample.

This package is part of the SMRT Analysis suite and is to be handled by the
Debian Med team.

  Description : terminal manipulation library for OCaml

 Lambda-term is a cross-platform library for manipulating the
 terminal. It provides an abstraction for keys, mouse events, colors,
 as well as a set of widgets to write curses-like applications.
 .
 The main objective of lambda-term is to provide a higher level
 functional interface to terminal manipulation than, for example,
 ncurses, by providing a native OCaml interface instead of bindings to
 a C library.
 .
 Lambda-term integrates with zed to provide text edition facilities in
 console applications, and helps with encoding management, by
 providing a high-level interface to iconv.

  Description : A simple and extensible shell script for managing your
todo.txt file

If you have a file called todo.txt on your computer right now, you're in the
right place.

So many power users try dozens of complicated todo list software applications,
only to go right back to their trusty todo.txt file.

But it's not easy to open todo.txt, make a change, and save it—especially on
your touchscreen device and at the command line. Todo.txt apps solve that
problem.
Simplicity is todo.txt's core value.

You're not going to find many checkboxes, drop-downs, reminders, or date
pickers here.

Todo.txt apps are minimal, todo.txt-focused editors which help you manage your
tasks with as few keystrokes and taps possible.

Bug#813464: ITP: ciscocmd -- Expect script to send a set of commands to a set of Cisco devices

2016-02-02 Thread Octavio Alvarez
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Octavio Alvarez

* Package name: ciscocmd
  Version : 1.11
  Upstream Author : Alain Degreffe
* URL : http://cosi-nms.sourceforge.net/alpha-progs.html
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: Expect/TCL
  Description : Expect script to send a set of commands to a set of
Cisco devices

 ciscocmd is a Tcl/Expect script. With this tool, you can send a set of
 command to a large number of ios target hosts and get a separated report
 for each node.

 I use this program on a day-to-day basis and I have contributed code
 to it.

 Because this program is a single-file Expect script, package maintenance
 should be simple. I plan to maintain it by myself.

 I will need a sponsor for this package, though.
