I see that the package has now entered the “NEW” queue.

Bug#768772: License-Grant field in ‘debian/copyright’

Yes, the specification does not mention this field. Use of
“License-Grant” is permitted by the specification,

See https://bugs.debian.org/786470> for an ongoing discussion of
standardising the “License-Grant” field.

Thanks for asking, and I hope you like this field I'm promoting :-)

Much better. I've uploaded with one minor correction: I moved

  * Initial Debian release.
(Closes: bug#768772)

up to 1.4.3-1 paragraph.

Could you please tell me where copyright/License-Grant fields came from?
I've seen no mentioning of such fields in

http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/1.0/

As for future improvements please consider integrating xkcdpass with system-
wide wordlist at "/usr/share/dict/words" (see corresponding packages
"wamerican" and "dictionaries-common").

Also (I'm sure I've already mentioned it) you might want to consider
maintaining your copyright information in "copyright" file and therefore
remove redundant fragment from "rules".

Thanks.

As I should have expected, it is already in dh-python:

   pyremove files
If you want to remove some public modules (i.e. files
in .../dist-packages/ directory) installed by build system
(from all supported Python versions or only from a subset of
these versions), add them to debian/pkg.pyremove file.

I will remove the ugly patch code, leave the source unchanged, and use
the ‘foo.pyremove’ facility instead.

Unusual patch management is exactly the problem we should be careful about.

Try "unapply-patches" in "debian/source/local-options".

I'm not pleased with using the overrides to patch and un-patch the
source. If there were a way to simply have a patch that says “remove
these files”, which is also un-applied during the clean target, I'd be
happy.

That is rather opaque to my view. Isn't there a better way to get the

What you did is hard to understand/maintain and I'm not comfortable with
those (IMHO unjustified) overrides. I think it will be much easier to replace
contents of "debian/xkcdpass.examples" with "xkcdpass/example_*.py" and drop
quilt overrides.

If want to remove examples from module directory in a more straightforward
manner then it might be easier to do so from "override_dh_auto_install" with
something like

$(RM) -v debian/*/usr/lib/*/*/*/example_*.py

Please keep the packaging simple.

Description : Classic Theme Restorer is an add-on for Mozilla

The Australis theme now employed by Mozilla Firefox (Iceweasel)
is by no means an undisputed improvement. Of the new features,
perhaps the most complained on are the lack of the “status bar”
(which could, however, be fixed by using xul-ext-status4evar
already in Debian) and the presence of the unremovable “menu”
button to the right of (the customizable part of) the toolbar.

As per the description, and also some Mozilla “forum” topics,
the Classic Theme Restorer addon is the way to revert (in whole
or in part) the changes brought in by Australis.

Please thus package this addon for Debian.

TIA.

Description : hardware cryptography support for IBM System z hardware

I would like to package libica 2.5.0 component of openCryptoki project
for s390x Debian port. This is a userspace support library, that
provides hardware accelerated cryptography in userspace, with fallbacks
when hardware acceleration is not available. This is part of the
dependency stack to provide e.g. accelerated openssl on s390x.

Improved description for the debian/control file are welcomed, as I lack
literacy skills to write those nicely. Currently I have:

"""
Description: hardware cryptography support for IBM System z hardware
libica library provides hardware acceleration for cryptographic
functions and is part of the openCryptoki project.
"""

Regards,

Dimitri.

The Validator.nu HTML Parser is an implementation of the HTML5 parsing
algorithm in Java for applications. The parser is designed to work as
a drop-in replacement for the XML parser in applications that already
support XHTML 1.x content with an XML parser and use SAX, DOM or XOM
to interface with the parser.

I'm renaming this ITP because of the confusion it is causing various
Debian scripts -- one of them incorrectly renamed my RFS. Please feel
free to rename your ITP if you don't like my "helm-synth" suggestion.

Bug#768772: [sponsor] xkcdpass/1.4.3-1 released

The patch system of ‘debian/patches/’ (which IIUC uses Quilt format)
cannot handle file renames. So I am hooking into the “apply patches to
source” and “reverse the patches to source”, in order to run ‘mv’
commands to rename the files.

The renames are to work around an upstream issue I reported
https://github.com/redacted/XKCD-password-generator/issues/33>.
The change will hopefully be accepted upstream. The module renames
within ‘debian/rules’ can be removed after that point.

QSopt-ex is an implementation of a simplex-based algorithm that returns exact
rational solutions, taking advantage of the speed of floating-point
calculations and attempting to minimize the operations performed in
rational arithmetic.

A fork of the original project is maintained at
, which is what will be targeted for the
Debian packaging.
This program can be used as a backend solver for python-cobra, a systems biology
modeling toolkit. The package will be maintained by the Debian Med team.

Description : GNU R package of HTTP and WebSocket Server Library

The R package httpuv provides low-level socket and protocol support for
handling HTTP and WebSocket requests directly from within R. It is primarily
intended as a building block for other packages, rather than making it
particularly easy to create complete web applications using httpuv alone.
httpuv is built on top of the libuv and http-parser C libraries, both of which
 were developed by Joyent, Inc.

The R httpuv package ( https://github.com/rstudio/httpuv ) is needed for
RStudio's Shiny Server ( https://www.rstudio.com/products/shiny/shiny-server/
), which is licensed under the AGPLv3; see also
https://github.com/rstudio/shiny-server . We plan to run Shiny Server at
Tilburg University.

I'm working on the httpuv packaging using debian-science's git at Alioth, at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=debian-science/packages/r-cran-httpuv.git /
git://anonscm.debian.org/debian-science/packages/r-cran-httpuv.git .

Bug#814641: ITP: sisu-mojos -- Sisu Maven Plugin

2016-02-14 Thread Emmanuel Bourg
Hi Christopher,

> Please let me know if you think I should be doing something different?

I'd suggest trying to use the sisu-maven-plugin in Debian first and see
if it works. For example the eclipse-aether package also uses the sisu
plugin from Eclipse, but we modified it to use the sisu plugin from
Sonatype and it worked fine.

If the Sonatype plugin doesn't work then I'd suggest upgrading the
existing sisu-maven-plugin package and switching it to the Eclipse
version. This will avoid two almost identical plugins in Debian.

* Package name: perspective-el
  Version : 1.12
  Upstream Author : Natalie Weizenbaum
* URL : https://github.com/nex3/perspective-el
* License : GPL-3
  Programming Lang: Emacs Lisp
Description : tagged workspaces in Emacs

A popular Emacs Lisp extension. Upstream description:

This package provides tagged workspaces in Emacs, similar to
workspaces in windows managers such as Awesome and XMonad (and
somewhat similar to multiple desktops in Gnome or Spaces in OS X).

perspective.el provides multiple workspaces (or "perspectives") for
each Emacs frame. This makes it easy to work on many separate projects
without getting lost in all the buffers.

Each perspective is composed of a window configuration and a set of
buffers. Switching to a perspective activates its window
configuration, and when in a perspective only its buffers are
available by default.

I intend to maintain this as part of the pkg-emacsen team.
