Hi C.J.,
great to hear that you want to help as well - I'm sure it will get great.
We are Currently three people:
- Luca Boccassi - DM, already applied for package upload permissions
- Martin Thiago - Experienced in experimenting with DPDK/Debian/Ubuntu,
giving us a broad testing&usage range
- Myself - Packaging DPDK for Ubuntu, Testing DPDK with integrated tests
and Openvswitch-DPDK

You would be a great addition to our group - more Debian experience will
surely help.

>From what I learned with packaging DPDK 2.2 for Ubuntu 16.04 there are a
lot of things that can fail with DPDK.
It is a great, but also fast moving and bleeding edge project.
So testing and patching is needed - more packages "Consuming" the library
and thereby more diverse test exposure help exactly with that.

The three of us kind of agreed on the following rough schedule:
- (Now / Luca) Requesting upload permissions for DPDK
- (Now / Me) Completing testing and fixing DPDK packaging in ubuntu
- (11th of May / All of us) start a kick off for packaging DPDK in Debian

The next DPDK release changes a lot regarding the build system and the
shared library handling, so on one hand IMHO it would avoid a lot of
restructuring if we start with 16.04 release.
But OTOH consuming packages might need older DPDK API / shared library
handling versions that might no more be supported.
But among many other things - that is one of the bigger topics we want to
discuss and agree on the kick-off.

I hope that schedule works for you and it would be great to add you to the
kick-off and our later work.
I'll invite you to the kick-off.

P.S. I hope not - but if you are in a hurry with the FD.io packaging let me
know on IRC and we can discuss our options.

I'm interested in co-maintaining this package, and I've been a Debian user
for a couple of decades now. I've even been an uploader, years ago.

I've submitted an ITP for the FD.io group of packages:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=819516

These depend on DPDK, so I've got an interest in making sure the DPDK
packages are good.

Well, there were some progress as I recently did some work on "gogoprotobuf"
precisely to address FTBFS in docker-containerd... Unfortunately updating
"gogoprotobuf" was not enough and it looks like we might need beta version of
"protobuf" which packaging is not very well maintained... :(

Arg, that's a pile of sadness, although not entirely unexpected. :'(

Thanks for sharing your notes! Hopefully we can come up with
something clever that doesn't involve a snapshot of protobuf-compiler.

You've beated me to this one. :) :)

I've been trying to compile it but got the following FTBFS:

It will be the "guts" behind Docker 1.11+, but should also be useful as

The infrastructure I needed letsencrypt.sh for enables the proxy module
in a virtualhost, rather doing it the debian-"mods-enabled"-way. That's
why it was a virtualhost (it had to be loaded at the very end to work).
But this is a rather uncommon setup and providing a config snippet is
definitely the way to go here. Thanks for changing it and switching to
dh_apache2.

Great this is will be maintained within Debian's letsencrypt-devel. I
just closed the old packaging repository on GitHub in favor of the new
one at anonscm.d.o.

I'm fine with the changed repository layout, meaning the primary
packaging work will be done in debian/master. I updated d/gbp.conf
accordingly, as well as README.source. As already mentioned in private
to you, I implemented 'When upstream uses Git/No upstream tarballs' [1]
here.
>From my understanding we do not need to track upstream changes in a
branch at all, since gbp defaults to '--git-upstream-tree=TAG'. Thus we
most likely can drop the branch 'upstream/master' from the Debian
packaging repo - hence I'm not 100% sure about that.

I've pushed some commits to debian/master, you might want to have a look
at them.

I have quite some infrastructure that I would like to use it for. I
check if I can migrate one candidate to fully make use of the packaging
later this week.

Yeah, you're right - pretty unhandy. I renamed it to simply
letsencrypt.sh-apache2 in debian/master - but feel free to propose an
other name.

I would like to see the following features added to the packaging:
- Ship some automatism, so the renews do not need to be done manually
- Add ngnix support (similar to the apache2 one)

Besides that, it would be wise to deny execution by user root per
default, but this should better be implemented upstream. I'll try to
work on this later this week - or more likely on the weekend.

Greetings
Daniel

Strange since any DD should have commit permissions. I've simply added
user georgesk to the Debian Science team. Please confirm whether this
was successful.

I never had any trouble with this - may be you really need to ask
listmaster. For the sake of testing I CC the list - just check whether
you receive this mail also via the list.

Kind regards

Andreas.

Bug#819477: RFA: prima

2016-03-29 Thread Bas Zoetekouw
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Is anyone interested in taking over the prima package? I've packages
this years ago as a dependency for libsubtitles-perl, which is
currently maintained by the perl team. The package is quite out of
date (1.28 packaged, 1.46 upstream release), en needs some care
(incorporate old NMUs, update packaging to 21st century standards,
etc).

Package: libprima-perl

Bug#819476: RFA: quotatool

2016-03-29 Thread Bas Zoetekouw
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'd like to pass the quotatool package over to someone who still
actually uses disk quotas. I haven't used quotas in quite a while, so
I'm not really interested in this package any longer. The quotatool
tool is still quite useful, though.

Package: quotatool

Description-en: tool to edit disk quotas from the command line
Quotatool is a utility to set filesystem quotas from the commandline.
Most quota-utilities are interactive, requiring manual intervention
from the
user. Quotatool on the other hand is not, making it suitable for use
in
scripts and other non-interactive situations. This is very useful to
edit
 disk quotas from scripts.
