Bug#892524: ITP: r-bioc-pcamethods -- BioConductor collection of PCA methods

2018-03-09 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Tille

* Package name: r-bioc-pcamethods
  Version : 1.70.0
  Upstream Author : Henning Redestig
* URL : https://bioconductor.org/packages/pcaMethods/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: GNU R
  Description : BioConductor collection of PCA methods
 Provides Bayesian PCA, Probabilistic PCA, Nipals PCA,
 Inverse Non-Linear PCA and the conventional SVD PCA. A cluster
 based method for missing value estimation is included for
 comparison. BPCA, PPCA and NipalsPCA may be used to perform PCA
 on incomplete data as well as for accurate missing value
 estimation. A set of methods for printing and plotting the
 results is also provided. All PCA methods make use of the same
 data structure (pcaRes) to provide a common interface to the
 PCA results. Initiated at the Max-Planck Institute for
 Molecular Plant Physiology, Golm, Germany.

Bug#892522: ITP: r-bioc-bitseq -- transcript expression inference and analysis for RNA-seq data

2018-03-09 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Tille

* Package name: r-bioc-bitseq
  Version : 1.22.0
  Upstream Author : Peter Glaus, Antti Honkela and Magnus Rattray
* URL : https://bioconductor.org/packages/BitSeq/
* License : Artistic-2.0
  Programming Lang: GNU R
  Description : transcript expression inference and analysis for RNA-seq
data
 The BitSeq package is targeted for transcript expression
 analysis and differential expression analysis of RNA-seq data
 in two stage process. In the first stage it uses Bayesian
 inference methodology to infer expression of individual
 transcripts from individual RNA-seq experiments. The second
 stage of BitSeq embraces the differential expression analysis
 of transcript expression. Providing expression estimates from
 replicates of multiple conditions, Log-Normal model of the
 estimates is used for inferring the condition mean transcript
 expression and ranking the transcripts based on the likelihood
 of differential expression.

it may be used with the standard crypto/ecdsa packages provided with go. A
comprehensive suite of test is provided to ensure proper functionality.
Package btcec was originally based on work from ThePiachu but it has

  Description : An embedded key/value database for Go, especially CoreOS's

 bbolt is CoreOS's fork of Ben Johnson's Bolt key/value store

 .
 The purpose of this fork is to better cater to the needs of CoreOS's etcd

 maintenance and development target for Bolt; the goal is improved reliability
 and stability. bbolt includes bug fixes, performance enhancements, and
 features not found in Bolt while preserving backwards compatibility with the

 Bolt is a pure Go key/value store inspired by Howard Chu's and the LMDB
 project. The goal of the project is to provide a simple, fast, and reliable
 database for projects that don't require a full database server such as
 Postgres or MySQL.

Reason for packaging:
 CoreOS's etcd (>= 3.2.10) began depending on this fork
 instead of the original github.com/boltdb/bolt, starting 2017-11-16.

I intended to run some Python scripts against Salsa and realised that
the packaged pyapi-gitlab is way outdated but had some better success
with latest upstream 7.8.4. I was about to ping the maintainer Benjamin
Drung (in CC) about the status. In any case I agree that we do not need
an outdated API which is not even actively maintained any more.

I cloned this for testing the package and the files in your pristine-tar
branch are not properly named accourding to the source package name. If
you want me to push my fix I can do so. I'll let you know about other
issues I might face when testing the package.

Apropos name choice: I do not fully understand why you choose the
repository name python-pygitlab (instead of python-gitlab) nor why you
do not maintain this in Debian Python Modules Team (where it should
belong to IMHO).

Kind regards

  Andreas.

  Description : a header-only Qt moc replacement

>From https://woboq.com/blog/verdigris-qt-without-moc.html:
"Verdigris is a header-only library that can be used with Qt.
It uses macros to create a QMetaObject
that is binary compatible with Qt's own QMetaObject without requiring moc.
In other words, you can use Verdigris macros in your Qt or QML application
instead of some of the Qt macros and then you do not need to run moc."

In addition, unlike Qt moc,
Verdigris supports modern C++ (templates, nested classes).
It requires C++14 (e.g., GCC 5.2) compiler (needs extended contexpr features).
