Bug#855666: ITP: peek -- create animated GIF screencasts

Hi kretcheu,

As previously said in upstream repository, I intend to take over this
ITP bug. This ITP hasn't seen any activity for over 1 year thus this
looks reasonable.

I will now proceed with packaging. If you have any idea, don't
hesitate to tell me.

The HSTS preload list offers a way for http clients to automatically
opt into encrypted connections. libhsts offers a way for any http
client to easily access information about the preload list.

Note that the preload list itself should be shipped separately, since
it is likely to be updated more frequently than libhsts itself (see
https://bugs.debian.org/893159).

AIUI, future versions of wget will want to use something like libhsts
to improve communications security for the user.

* Package name: dkimpy-milter
  Version : 0.9.5.1
  Upstream Author : Scott Kitterman
* URL : https://launchpad.net/dkimpy-milter
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Python milter implementation of DomainKeys Identified Mail
(DKIM)

 The dkimpy-milter is a Sendmail/Postfix Milter application that signs
 and verifies DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail). It supports both traditional
 RSA (RFC 6376) signatures and the new ed25519 based signatures being
 developed by the IETF DCRUP (DKIM Crypto UPgrade) Working Group.
 .
 DKIM provides a way for senders to confirm their identity when sending email
 by adding a cryptographic signature to the headers of the message.
 .
 It uses the OpenDKIM configuration option naming and definitions, for the
 options it implements, to make it easy for OpenDKIM users to experiment with
 this alternative.

The primary alternative, which I also maintain, is opendkim. Upstream isn't
dead, but it appears to be on life support. I wrote this as an alternative so
I would have something modern and supported. Currently it is the only DKIM
option for Postfix/Sendmail that supports ed25519 (there's also an unreleased
Exim implementation that this has been tested with to verify
interoperability).

Yes, it's python2.7, but the milter bindings it uses, python-milter, are not
yet avaialble for python3. When they are, it'll be ported.

I plan to maintain this within the Python Applications Packaging Team.

* Package name: python-numpysane

  Description : more-reasonable core functionality for numpy

Numpy is widely used, relatively polished, and has a wide range of
libraries available. At the same time, some of its very core
functionality is strange, confusing and just plain wrong. This module
intends to improve the developer experience by providing alternate APIs
to some core numpy functionality that is much more reasonable.

2018-03-16 Thread gregor herrmann
Package: wnpp
Owner: gregor herrmann
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian-p...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: libobject-forkaware-perl
  Version : 0.005
  Upstream Author : Karen Etheridge
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Object-ForkAware
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : module to make an object aware of process forks and threads

Object::ForkAware invisibly wraps your object and makes it fork-aware,
automatically checking $$ on every access and recreating the object if the
process id changes. (The object is also thread-aware; if the thread id
changes, the object is recreated in the same manner.)

The object can be safely used with type checks and various type constraint
mechanisms, as isa() and can() respond as if they were being called against
the contained object itself.

Rationale: If you've ever had an object representing a network connection to
some server, or something else containing a socket, a filehandle, etc, and
used it in a program that forks, and then forgot to close and reopen your
socket/handle etc. in the new process, you'll know what chaos can ensue.
Depending on the type of connection, you can have multiple processes trying
to write to the same resource at once, or simultaneous reads getting each
other's data, dogs and cats living together... It's horrible, and it's an
easy problem to run into.

The package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Perl Group.

  Description : Self-hostable web productivity suite & webapp package
manager

Sandstorm is a package manager and sandbox meant for people to easily install
and self-host web applications, such as collaborative documents, blog systems,
project management tools, ...

Sandstorm provides a unified access control model to documents, based on object
capabilities, and secures against vulnerable or malicious applications by
executing each instance separately, and in a sandbox with extremely limited
attack surface.

As a side-note, one of the sandstorm upstream developpers, Asheesh (in
X-Debbugs-CC), is also a Debian developper, and the Debian community already has
a Sandstorm instance hosted at storm.debian.net.

Bug#891939: What python-gitlab to use? (Was: using the salsa issue tracker for internal package maintainer tracking)

2018-03-16 Thread Andreas Tille

Besides this might be interesting I have another question. You are using

   import gitlab

Which python3-gitlab are you using here? Is this python3-gitlab 7.5.0-1
maintained by Benjamin Drung in collab-maint[1] (which is lagging
heavily behind upstream and seems unmaintained neither supporting API
v4) or rather the freshly ITPed (#891939) from Federico Ceratto which I
have set to Version 1:1.3.0 in Git[2] to have a higher version than the
old one.

I can confirm that I have successfully written a script to gather
metadata of Blends packages from Salsa[3] by using the latter. I think
we should move forward and get some working python Gitlab module since
the need for this will increase. Unfortunately both maintainers did
not respond yet to any of my mails (modulo a broken SPAM filter on my
side) and I wonder how we should proceed from here.

My favourite way of action would be to move the ITPed #891939 to
Python modules team, finalise the package, make it conflict with the
old package and remove the old one from Debian.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

Description-en: secure encryption and decryption of files and streams
 ccrypt is a utility for encrypting and decrypting files and streams. It was
 designed as a replacement for the standard unix crypt utility, which is
 notorious for using a very weak encryption algorithm. ccrypt is based on the
 Rijndael cipher, which is the U.S. government's chosen candidate for the
 Advanced Encryption Standard (AES, see http://www.nist.gov/aes). This cipher is
 believed to provide very strong security.

Bug#790814: also interested

may try to help in other ways.

@陳昌倬, you could start by sharing a repo on salsa.debian.org.

Thanks,
