  Description : private digital currency

>From the website:
Monero is a private, secure, untraceable, decentralised digital
currency. You are your bank, you control your funds, and nobody can
trace your transfers unless you allow them to do so.

Privacy: Monero uses a cryptographically sound system to allow you to
send and receive funds without your transactions being easily revealed
on the blockchain (the ledger of transactions that everyone has). This
ensures that your purchases, receipts, and all transfers remain
absolutely private by default.

Security: Using the power of a distributed peer-to-peer consensus
network, every transaction on the network is cryptographically secured.
Individual wallets have a 25 word mnemonic seed that is only displayed
once, and can be written down to backup the wallet. Wallet files are
encrypted with a passphrase to ensure they are useless if stolen.

Untraceability: By taking advantage of ring signatures, a special
property of a certain type of cryptography, Monero is able to ensure
that transactions are not only untraceable, but have an optional measure
of ambiguity that ensures that transactions cannot easily be tied back
to an individual user or computer.

Hi Mehdi,

I've created an initial version of the package in salsa:
https://salsa.debian.org/ocaml-team/ppx-tools-versioned
Tested building it with sbuild (and adt-run) for both amd64 and mips.
Would you review it?

Best regards,
Andy

Bug#901933: ITP: prometheus-bird-exporter -- Prometheus exporter for the BIRD routing daemon

2018-06-20 Thread Daniel Swarbrick
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Daniel Swarbrick

* Package name: prometheus-bird-exporter
  Version : 1.2.1
  Upstream Author : Daniel Czerwonk
* URL : https://github.com/czerwonk/bird_exporter
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Go
  Description : Prometheus exporter for the BIRD routing daemon

Prometheus exporter for the BIRD routing daemon, which collects metrics
via the BIRD Unix socket.

This exporter provides useful information for network administrators to
monitor the health of BGP / OSPF peering of the BIRD daemon. We are
currently testing it in a cloud hosting environment.

I think / hope I can maintain this more or less singlehandedly, however
it will be my first package contribution to Debian (do I need a
sponsor?), so any help will be gladly accepted.

 Puppet lets you centrally manage every important aspect of your system using a
 cross-platform specification language that manages all the separate elements
 normally aggregated in different files, like users, cron jobs, and hosts,
 along with obviously discrete elements like packages, services, and files.
 .
 This module manages both the installation and configuration of Redis.

  Programming Lang: JavaScript
  Description : GZIP in pure JavaScript (works in the browser)

 This module is a pure JavaScript implementation of the GZIP file format. It
 uses the DEFLATE algorithm for compressing data.
 .
 Please note that since this is a pure JavaScript implementation, it
should NOT
 be used on the server for production code. It also does not comply 100%
with
 the standard, yet.
 .
 The main goal of this project is to bring GZIP compression to the browser.
 .
 Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.

Build dependency of jquery 2.x (gitlab needs the node source as it
runs webpack during install and since grunt and other build dependencies
are now in archive, this could be used to generate libjs-jquery without
maintaining a custom build script).

Offline HTML Indexer: http://people.ds.cam.ac.uk/ssb22/gradint/ohi.html
Simple Python script, GPL, should be easy to package if
anyone's interested. It's a small utility to create
HTML-based references that are searchable offline using
Javascript; for example you can use it to put dictionaries
and other references onto a mobile phone for offline lookup
(an example using the CEDICT dictionary is shown on that page).

Thanks.

lexconvert: http://people.ds.cam.ac.uk/ssb22/gradint/lexconvert.html
It's just one Python file and should be easy to package.
GPL licensed. Recommends espeak, suggests festlex-oald.

It can convert between the phoneme formats of Festival,
eSpeak, SAPI (for MS Windows), Cepstral, Mac, X-SAMPA,
Acapela UK, CMU, and Unicode IPA. (Oh, and the BBC Micro.)

Thanks.

Is anybody interested in packaging Gradint? It's GPL v3
and it requires python (2.x), and virtually requires sox
and libsox-fmt-all. Recommended (highly) is espeak and python-tk.

It's a learning tool for creating vocabulary practice sessions
using the "graduated-interval recall" memory technique.
Please see http://people.ds.cam.ac.uk/ssb22/gradint/
Packaging might simply be a matter of renaming gradint.py
and putting it into /usr/bin, but I'm happy to make changes
to the way Gradint runs if needed.

Packages to put in its "suggested" list might include:
  - python-tksnack (for recording);
  - mpg123, mpg321, madplay, or mplayer (if sox doesn't have MP3 support);
  - unzip (for installing the optional extra voice data);
  - gzip (if you want your progress files to be compressed);
  - festival or flite (if espeak is not available);
  - lame, faac, oggenc, toolame, or speexenc (for non-realtime output);
  - leafpad, gedit, nedit, kedit or xedit (text editors)
but none of these are really required.

The additional voice data for Mandarin and Cantonese
(downloaded from the link in the sidebar) would increase
the package size rather a lot; perhaps that should be
optional (if it's included at all).

Thanks.

Web Adjuster: http://people.ds.cam.ac.uk/ssb22/adjuster/
it lets you set up a server to provide arbitrary
customization of websites for use with your mobile phone
etc. License is Apache 2. Requires python-tornado and
python (2.x), suggests python-imaging (for optional font
rendering), poppler-utils (for pdftotext), and calibre.

It's only one file, adjuster.py. Packaging it should
simply be a matter of giving it an appropriate name and path.
I'm happy to make changes upstream if needed.

(There's also a related program, Annotator Generator, but
I'm not sure if that should be in the same package.)

Thanks.

Bug#901961: ITP: libtest-http-localserver-perl -- local HTTP server for testing other perl modules

2018-06-20 Thread gregor herrmann
Package: wnpp
Owner: gregor herrmann
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian-p...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: libtest-http-localserver-perl
  Version : 0.63
  Upstream Author : Max Maischein
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Test-HTTP-LocalServer
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : local HTTP server for testing other perl modules

Test::HTTP::LocalServer implements a tiny web server suitable for running
"live" tests of HTTP clients against it. It also takes care of cleaning %ENV
from settings that influence the use of a local proxy etc.

Use this web server if you write an HTTP client and want to exercise its
behaviour in your test suite without talking to the outside world.

This description was automagically extracted from the module by dh-make-perl.

The package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Perl Group.

Description : functions that implement a high-level library for
retrieving and uploading files using Uniform Resource Locators

While a strong part of the FreeBSD disto there's no reason this code
can't be packaged for use elsewhere. It seems to have been used
elsewhere already such as a dependency in Arch and some ssl
implementations.

man page: http://www.unix.com/man-page/freebsd/3/fetch/
description of libfetch vs. similar code.

After the library is packaged this user level program can be packaged:
